Abstract

This research conducts a juridical analysis of the Full Day School (FDS) policy in Indonesia, focusing on its impact on teacher welfare and children's rights. The primary objective is to evaluate how the policy aligns with legal frameworks such as Law Number 14 of 2005 on Teachers and Lecturers and Law Number 35 of 2014 on Child Protection. This study utilizes an analysis of specific legal documents and policy regulations, including Ministerial Regulation Number 23 of 2017 on School Days and Presidential Regulation Number 87 of 2017 on Strengthening Character Education. The findings indicate that the policy’s extended school hours may infringe upon children’s rights to rest and play, as guaranteed under Law Number 35 of 2014, and exacerbate teacher workloads, potentially conflicting with labour rights under Law Number 13 of 2003. Teachers report heightened stress and reduced work-life balance, while students face mental fatigue and diminished extracurricular opportunities. To comply with legal mandates and international conventions such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), the policy must be revised to balance instructional goals with the well-being of both educators and learners. Recommendations include reducing school hours, ensuring adequate rest periods, and aligning the policy with legal and international standards. Further exploration of the policy's long-term legal and social implications is essential for sustainable educational reform.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the 14th episode of the Merdeka Campus Curriculum policy in preventing sexual violence at Islamic religious higher education institutions in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach through literature reviews and in-depth interviews, the study identifies key challenges in policy implementation, including a lack of socialization, insufficient trained human resources, and cultural resistance. The findings indicate that while the policy provides a solid foundation for creating safe campus environments, its implementation requires significant improvements. Education based on moral values, strengthening specialized service units, and engaging all campus stakeholders are the primary recommendations. This research is expected to contribute practical insights toward fostering a more inclusive and responsive campus environment regarding sexual violence issues.

Abstract

This study examines the typology of crises, their multidimensional impacts, and the urgency of crisis management within Islamic Education Management (MPI) from a value-based perspective. The research adopts a qualitative literature review methodology to systematically synthesize theoretical and empirical studies related to crisis management, Islamic educational governance, and budget efficiency. Academic publications indexed in major scholarly databases were analyzed thematically to identify crisis patterns, impact dimensions, and value-oriented management responses. The findings reveal that crises in MPI can be categorized into internal and external types, both of which are shaped by complex interactions between managerial, social, and spiritual factors. Internal crises are closely associated with leadership conflicts, moral deviations, and financial inefficiencies, particularly budget efficiency policies that marginalize core Islamic educational programs, while external crises arise from environmental uncertainty, digital public pressure, natural disasters, and regulatory changes. The impacts of these crises are inherently multidimensional, affecting academic quality, psychological well-being, social trust, and spiritual identity simultaneously. The study highlights that neglecting Islamic values in crisis management risks not only operational disruption but also long-term erosion of institutional identity and legitimacy. Theoretically, this study advances crisis management discourse by positioning spiritual values as a central analytical dimension in faith-based institutions. Practically, it underscores the need for integrated crisis management strategies that align modern managerial practices with Islamic principles. The study is limited by its reliance on secondary data and the absence of empirical case analysis. Future research is recommended to empirically test the proposed integrated model across diverse Islamic education settings and to explore its long-term implications for institutional resilience.

Abstract

Purpose – This study investigates why formal eco-pesantren cleanliness regulations at MAN 2 Yogyakarta have not consistently translated into students’ everyday ecological behaviour. While Islamic environmental education has institutionalized cleanliness policies, a gap persists between normative rules and lived practice. This research addresses that gap by examining how boarding culture shapes, mediates, and is experienced in students’ cleanliness practices and ecological awareness. The principal argument advanced is that ecological behaviour in Islamic boarding schools is not solely regulation-driven but is constructed through layered meaning-making within micro-level room culture. Design/methods– A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed to capture students’ lived experiences. Fourteen purposively selected participants were involved, comprising one boarding supervisor, one musrifah, and twelve students representing five boarding rooms. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, participatory naturalistic observation conducted over a three-month period, and document analysis of institutional cleanliness policies. Data analysis followed a systematic coding procedure open, axial, and selective coding to identify thematic structures of ecological awareness formation. Findings – The findings reveal a three-layered developmental pattern of ecological awareness. First, most participants (12 of 14) initially framed cleanliness pragmatically in terms of personal comfort and avoidance of sanctions. Second, 10 participants demonstrated an emerging sense of collective responsibility shaped by shared room dynamics and peer regulation. Third, a smaller subset (4 participants) articulated ecological practice as religiously meaningful, conceptualizing cleanliness as amanah, adab, and an expression of the human role as khalifah. These results confirm that Islamic environmental education becomes effective when formal regulations are integrated with students’ lived experiences and room-based cultural interactions. Abstract

This study aims to examine the meaning of Islamic creed (ʿaqīdah) within the framework of multicultural theology and explore its integration into Islamic Religious Education (IRE) strategies to shape moderate character among Generation Z. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through library research, enabling a critical analysis of academic literature, policy documents, and curriculum frameworks. The findings reveal that Islamic creed, when interpreted inclusively through the lens of multicultural theology, functions not only as a spiritual foundation but also as a social ethic that nurtures the values of tolerance (tasāmuh), equality (musāwah), justice (taʿādul), and compassion (raḥmah). Contextual, participatory, and experience-based IRE strategies prove to be highly relevant for Generation Z, who are critical, adaptive, and digitally literate. The implications highlight the crucial role of curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, and teacher competence in delivering transformative religious education that simultaneously prevents radicalization. However, the study acknowledges its conceptual limitations, emphasizing the need for further empirical and comparative research to test the effectiveness of the proposed strategies across diverse educational and social settings. Accordingly, this study offers both theoretical and practical contributions to strengthening religious moderation among Generation Z in alignment with the vision of Islam as raḥmatan lil-ʿālamīn
