Abstract

Health problems such as metabolic disorders, which cause osmotic diuresis and dehydration, are experienced by diabetes mellitus patients, with manifestations of nocturia, as well as stress and anxiety disorders that result in reduced sleep quality. This can influence the management of diabetes mellitus treatment to be less than optimal. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Benson relaxation on sleep patterns in diabetes mellitus patients. The type of research used is a quasi experiment with a pre and post test design without control group, which means that this research design does not have a comparison group. The population in this study were 74 patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus which resulted in sleep pattern disturbances at RSU Royal Prima Medan during the last month. The sample in this study was 62 people using purposive sampling. Data collection in research uses instruments in the form of observation sheets. Research data analysis was univariate and bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon rank test. The results of the study explaining the sleep patterns of diabetes mellitus patients before using the Benson relaxation technique showed that the majority of respondents' sleep patterns were poor, 43 people (69.4%), the sleep patterns of diabetes mellitus patients after using the Benson relaxation technique, it was found that the majority of respondents' sleep patterns were good, 32 people. (51.6%), and there was an influence of the Benson relaxation technique on improving sleep patterns in diabetes mellitus patients (p= 0.048). The conclusion of this research is that there is an influence of the Benson relaxation technique on improving the sleep patterns of diabetes mellitus patients at RSU Royal Prima Medan.

Abstract

Abstrak. Bimbingan konseling merupakan salah satu sarana yang berupaya untuk mewujudkan tujuan pendidikan nasional dan tujuan sekolah MAN 1 Medan. Siswa di sekolah dan madrasah, baik sebagai individu maupun sebagai anggota masyarakat, memiliki masalah dengan tingkat saling melengkapi yang berbeda-beda. Permasalahan siswa di sekolah dan madrasah disebabkan oleh kondisi dalam dirinya sendiri dan ada pula yang disebabkan oleh kondisi di luar siswa. Bimbingan belajar merupakan upaya untuk mengatasi kesulitan dalam belajar. Ketertarikan pada pelajaran matematika yang dimiliki siswa di kelas X MIPA 7 membuktikan bahwa siswa yang memiliki niat belajar untuk memahami sesuatu pasti akan berusaha untuk memahaminya. Tenaga pengajar di MAN 1 Medan mengajar dengan baik sehingga berdampak besar terhadap minat belajar matematika siswa di MAN 1 Medan khususnya untuk kelas X MIPA 7 yang merupakan kelas yang kami teliti. Namun, masih ada siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami pembelajaran matematika. Pada dasarnya guru memberikan informasi, membimbing, mengajar, memotivasi dan mengevaluasi siswa dalam rangka membantu mengatasi hambatan yang dialami siswa sehingga guru dapat mewujudkan interaksi dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar yang sedang berlangsung selama pembelajaran. Guidance and counseling is one of the means that seeks to realize the goals of national education and the goals of the Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Medan school. Students in schools and madrasas, both as individuals and as members of society, have problems with varying degrees of complementarity. The problems of students in schools and madrasas are caused by conditions within themselves and some are caused by conditions outside the students. Tutoring is an effort to overcome difficulties in learning. The interest in mathematics that students in class X Mathematics-Natural Science 7 have proves that students who have the intention of learning to understand something will definitely try to understand it. The teaching staff at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Medan teach well so that it has a big impact on students' interest in learning mathematics at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Medan, especially for class X Mathematics-Science 7 which is the class we are researching. However, there are still students who have difficulty in understanding mathematics learning. Basically the teacher provides information, guides, teaches, motivates and evaluates students in order to help overcome the obstacles experienced by students so that teachers can realize interactions in ongoing teaching and learning activities during learning.
