Abstract

Tujuan umum dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuankognitif terhadap pemahaman report siswa text yang diajarkan dengan menggunakanVee Diagram lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajar dengan Kontekstual. Penelitianinimerupakan eksperimen.Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah Random Sampling.Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan menggunakan Anava duajalur yaitu 0,00 < 0,05 artinyakemampuan kognitif terhadap pemahaman repor text dengan menggunakan Vee Diagramlebih baik dari pada kemampuan pemahaman report textdenganmenggunakanKontekstual. Respon siswa pada kelas Vee Diagram 91% lebihtinggi dari pada Kontekstual 82% . Proses penyelesaian jawaban pada kelas VeeDiagram lebih baik dari pada Kontekstual.

Abstract

This study attempts to find out about the effect of diary on students’ writing skill in recount text. The objective of the study is to discover whether the effect of writing diary technique could significantly increase students’ interest in developing their writing skill especially in recount text. And to find out the ability of students before and after using this technique. This study was conducted by applying experimental design. Two classes where involved in this research, experimental class and control class. The experimental class consists of the students who received treatment. The subject of this study of tenth grade students of Raudlatul Hasanah which consisted of 30 students each class. The test is based on students’ writing on their daily diary with the component of writing : the content, organization, vocabulary which was analyzed by using T-test formula. It was shown from of the score of the students with the calculation of t-test (4,41) with degree of freedom (df) = 58 was higher than ttable (1,67) (p=58) . There is significant effect on students’ scores in each writing test. Therefore, it can be concluded that diary writing affected students’ recount text writing skill.

Abstract

There are some factors have influenced in teaching vocabulary. The creative teacher will use teaching method which appropriate with the students condition in the class and can attract them to be more interested in learning English especially vocabulary achievement. The aim of this research is to find the significance of Bingo Media in teaching English Vocabulary was observed and analyzed from students of eighth grade of SMP S Al – Washliyah 27 Medan. In this research, Bingo as media was implemented with discussion method in order was chosen in this research to solve the problem. The method of this research is quantitative by taking 60 students as the sample. The population of this research was all grade VIII students and the sample of this research were VIII – A as the experiment class, grade VIII – B as the control class. Instrument of the research was used multiple choice about Descriptive text. After the research gave the treatment by used Bingo in teaching Vocabulary it showed that pre-test average score of experimental group was 83,67 and control group was 69. Meanwhile, the post-test average of experimental groups was 59,33 and control group was 55. The research above the used Bingo and implementation of discussion method significantly affected on students vocabulary achievement. It could be concluded that the use of Bingo increasing students vocabulary achievement was affective. The result that found in this research was t observed was 6,94 and t table 2,00. It can state that there is significant difference between from students vocabulary scores taught by using Bingo and without Bingo. It means that Bingo Media are quite effective in improving students vocabulary achievement.

Abstract

Simple Present Tense is part of English language grammar that stated in tenses. It expresses action in daily activities and general truth. The purposed of this research is to analyze errors in learning simple present tense. The errors analyzed in this research are: error of omission, addition, misformation and misordering. The method of this research approach is descriptive qualitative. It was conducted at SMP Al washliyah 27 Medan, the sample was taken from 20 students in the 7th grade of their written test. After analyzing and locating the errors from their answer sheets. The researcher found some finding of the research. The types of errors made by the students on learning the simple present tense are based on surface strategy taxonomy which are classified into omission, addition, misformation and misordering. After counting the errors, the researcher found 317 total of errors which consist of 50 errors of omission, 39 error of addition, 132 errors of misformation and 96 errors of misordering. From the data above it can be seen that misformation error was the highest number of error made by the students and following by misordering of error. At SMP Swasta Al Washliyan 27 Medan, the researcher also can find some causes of errors. They are Interference and teacher-induced error. Interference is error that are influenced by the interference of students mother tongue. The students still apply indonesian pattern into English when they translate the sentences. Then, Teacher-induced errors which teacher's teaching method required to be enhance and adequate to make the students have interest in learning English language.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan menulis kalimat bahasa inggris menggunakan reality media pada siswa jurusan psikologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif, yang bertujuan untuk mengumpulkan data siswa agar dapat mengetahui permasalahan siswa dan kemampuan mereka dalam menulis kalimat bahasa inggris menggunakan reality media. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester satu jurusan Psikologi Universitas Medan Area sebanyak 30 orang. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data berbentuk memberikan test kepada siswa. Instrument yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data yaitu test latihan dan reality media.Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data diperoleh bahwa reality media atau gambar merupakan media yang sering digunakan oleh dosen untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis kalimat bahasa Inggris pada jurusan psikologi sebagai media gambar dengan menjelaskan dan memberikan gambar sebagai alat untuk menulis kalimat bahasa inggris sebagai kemampuan untuk menulis kalimat tersebut.. Meningkatnya kemampuan menulis kalimat bahasa Inggris di jurusan Psikologi dengan nilai rata – rata 80, 83 yang merupakan meningkatnya kemampuan menulis siswa dengan menggunakan reality media yaitu media gambar yang dikategorikan tinggi dan terdapat motivasi siswa untuk menulis kalimat bahasa inggris pada jurusan psikolgi meningkat dengan adanya reality media.

Abstract

Hate speech is defined as speech that involves hate and is meant to have specific consequences, either directly or indirectly. Hate speech is becoming more common as the internet era progresses. Hate speech can be delivered individually or in groups, resulting in heated debates and difficulties in the community. This study aims to explain the types of hate speech on Tiara marlen on social media. The method use in this research is descriptive qualitative method, data collection techniques in the form of viewing and documentation. The method used in supporting this research is utterances, to determine whether the comments are included in to positive or negative categories.In this study used were 15 coments as research object.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of using the Cooperative Script Method in reading comprehension. This research was conducted using experimental research methods. The research subjects were students of class X SMA Al Washliyah 3 Medan in the academic year 2021-2022, with their parallel classes and there were 60 students. Each class consists of 30 students and the entire population is taken as a sample, then divided into two groups. The first group as the experimental group was taught using the Cooperative Script Method, while the second group as the control group was taught without using the Cooperative Script Method. The instrument used to collect the data was a multiple choice test set. Pre-test and post-test were given. Data were collected statistically by applying the t-test formula. The results showed that the observed t was higher than the table value 5,24 > 1.67 at a significant level of 0.05 and the degree of freedom (df) was 58. The null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative was accepted. This implies that reading using the Cooperative Script Method has a significant effect on students' reading comprehension.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of using English song in students’ pronunciation skill. This research was conducted to the second grade students of SMP Al Washliyah 27 Medan in academic year 2020/2021. In this research, a pre-experimental design was used by the writer which two classes and the total number of students 60. Sample of this research consisted of two classes. The sample was devided into two groups, the first group is 30 students (Grade VII A) which is the experimental group and the second group is 30 students (Grade VII B) which is control group. The experimental group was taught by using English song while the control group was taught without using English song. The writer used the instrument for collectingthe data was oral test. The result of the analysis showed that the t-observed (2.35), it was higher than the t-table (2.00) with the level of significant (0.05) and the degree of freedom (df) (58). In conclusion, the effectiveness of the use English song is very strong to improve the students’ pronunciation skill.

Abstract

This research is aimed to find out the effect of using visual-picture sequences towards students’ ability in English writing descriptive text at the eighth grade students of SMP Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu in the academic year of 2022/2023. In this research, the researcher took two classes as the sample with their parallel classes and there were 60 students. Each class consists of 30 students and the entire population is taken as a sample then, divided into two groups. The instrument used in this thesis was an essay test. In collecting the data, the writer used pre-test and post-test. Before conducting post-test, the writer gave treatment. After getting enough data, the researcher calculated the data using ttest. Based on the computation, the mean score of pre-test in control group is 38 and the mean of post-test is 63. Meanwhile the mean score of pre-test in experimental group is 57 and the mean of post-test is 85. The results showed that the observed t was higher than the table value 2.5 > 1.67 at a significant level of 0.05 and the degree of freedom (df) was 58. The null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative was accepted. So, it can be stated that the hypothesis “the use of picture in teaching writing of descriptive text at the eighth grade students of SMP Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu in the academic year of 2022/2023 is accepted”. Based on the result finding, it can be concluded that the data presented is there is an effectiveness of using visual-picture sequences towards students’ writing ability in English writing descriptive text. The researcher hopes that the result of this study will be useful for students and English teacher in education field. The English teacher should improve their competencies by improving their material mastery, making use of appropriate and interesting media, so, their students’ English ability will be developed.
