Abstract

The lack of engaging learning materials in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah triggers the need for innovative methods, such as pop-up books, to teach the values of heroism effectively and ensure technology accessibility. This research aims to develop innovative learning media in the form of a Pop-Up Book based on heroic values for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) students. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The research results show that the Pop-Up Book media developed is valid and suitable for use in learning with a validity level of 88%. Implementation on 13 class V students at MI Nurul Hidayah Prajekan Bondowoso showed a positive response with an acceptance rate of 86.15%. This media not only increases students' interest and understanding of the subject matter, but is also effective in instilling moral values such as courage, sacrifice and patriotism. Teacher training in the use of this media is very necessary to optimize its use in the learning process. This study's contribution lies in the development and validation of Pop-Up Book media, which shows its effectiveness in increasing students' interest in and understanding of heroic values. This study highlights the importance of teacher training for optimal media use, providing evidence that this visual and interactive learning approach can strengthen character education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Further research is recommended to develop other moral value-based learning media and evaluate the long-term impact of using Pop-Up Book media on student character formation.

Abstract

Training in Indonesia has undergone industry- and curriculum-focused reforms. The government built BLKs in the regions to align training with industry needs. However, at BLK Pemalang Regency, there is a lack of human resources for training needs analysis, a limited number of instructors, manual administration of attendance records, and a lack of long-term evaluation of graduates. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the CIPPO evaluation model in culinary training. The research used a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection involved observation techniques, interviews with the organizing committee, trainees, and instructors, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through the triangulation of sources and methods. The data analysis technique adopted the Miles & Huberman technique, consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research results showed that BLK has a legal basis and a supporting vision-mission, competent human resources, adequate facilities, and a systematic training process by the existing legal basis in improving participants' skills. However, in the outcome component, there is no post-training support and job placement facilities, which causes graduates to be independent in finding jobs, and there is no comprehensive evaluation of the absorption of graduates. It was concluded that there were improvements in participants' knowledge, attitudes, and skills, but BLK needs to strengthen post-training guidance and mentoring programs, improve administration with online systems, and make greater use of social media. This research reflects progress in evaluating culinary training at BLK Pemalang through the CIPPO model, which evaluates program outcomes and long-term benefits for graduates.

Abstract

Performance-based assessment (PBA) enables teachers to determine learners’ genuine language competency and promote critical thinking skills. The students applied their knowledge in practical ways during the teaching and learning process. Evaluating skill is one of the higher-order thinking abilities (HOTS) every individual should strive to master. Some research have indicated that this competence is under-evaluated. This study intends to elucidate the utilization of Performance-Based Assessment for evaluating students' skills in learning English. A qualitative research design was used to recruit an English teacher who met the study requirements and was teaching ninth-grade students at SMPN 2 Semarang. Information was collected through classroom observation, document analysis, and interviews. The study revealed that the teacher utilized probing questions in process-oriented assessment while applying performance-based assessment to evaluate students' skills in evaluating English acquisition. Challenging questions were asked during the learning activities to challenge students to think critically about their answers. The teacher led the pupils in a thorough discussion of the learning materials. The assessment questions were primarily open-ended WH questions designed to engage higher-order thinking skills
