ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS di Kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila Kabupaten Bone Bolango Provinsi Gorontalo melalui model pembelajaran problem based learning. Model penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek yang dikenai tindakan adalah seluruh siswa di kelas VII.5 SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila Kabupaten Bone Bolango Provinsi Gorontalo yang berjumlah 24 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi angket, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dari keseluruhan hasil analisis data, baik data observasi awal maupun data pada siklus 1 dan siklus 2 menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa pada setiap tahapan penelitian. Pada saat observasi awal, motivasi belajar siswa di Kelas VII.5 SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila Kabupaten Bone Bolango Provinsi Gorontalo dengan jumlah siswa 24 orang hanya terdapat 9 siswa yang mencapai KKM (75) atau 37,5% dan siswa belum mencapai KKM yaitu 15 siswa atau 62,5%, namun setelah diberikan tindakan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran problem based learning pada siklus 1 siswa yang mencapai KKM meningkat menjadi 16 siswa atau 66,67% dan siswa yang belum mencapai KKM adalah 8 siswa atau 33,33% sedangkan pada siklus 2 mengalami peningkatan hingga mencapai 22 siswa atau 91,67% mencapai KKM dan 2 siswa atau 8,33% belum mencapai KKM. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis tindakan yang berbunyi; “Jika dalam pembelajaran digunakan model pembelajaran problem based learning maka motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS di Kelas VII.5 SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila Kabupaten Bone Bolango Provinsi Gorontalo akan meningkat “ maka penelitian ini dinyatakan berhasil atau hipotesisnya diterima. Kata Kunci: Problem Based Learning, Minat Belajar Siswa, Pembelajaran IPS ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to increase students' learning motivation in social studies subjects in Class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Tilongkabila, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province through a problem based learning model.
