Abstract

White oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) is a type of wood fungus that can be consumed and has high nutritional content such as carbohydrates, calcium, protein, iron, fat, potassium and phosphorus. This study aims to determine the benefits of oyster mushroom growth and production (Pleurotus ostreatus) using various compositions of growing media that incorporate coffee grounds. The study was conducted from June to December 2024 at the oyster mushroom cultivation facility of the Faculty of Agriculture, Christian University of Indonesia Toraja, located in Tallunglipu District, North Toraja Regency. The research consists of three stages: the production of oyster mushroom baglogs with coffee grounds as an additional substrate, testing the effectiveness of coffee grounds as a supplementary substrate in the growing media for oyster mushrooms, and analyzing the farming business based on the production results of oyster mushrooms. The research method employed a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five treatments: without additional coffee grounds (0%); with additional coffee grounds at 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The results indicate that the treatment with 10% coffee grounds yielded the best results, with an average of 35.67 caps, a cap diameter of 9.38 cm, a stem diameter of 1.78 cm, and a mushroom weight of 391.00 grams.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of gamal leaf compost on the vegetative growth of tomato plants, with a focus on improving soil physical and chemical properties, increasing nutrient availability, and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. Four treatment combinations were replicated three times, resulting in 12 experimental plots. Each plot consisted of five plants, resulting in a total of 60 tomato plants, effectively increasing tomato growth. The results of this study indicate that the application of 3 kg of gamal leaf compost and 1 kg of soil (B3) significantly impacted tomato growth and yield. This also provides a solution for horticultural farmers and supports sustainable agriculture. Keywords: gamal leaf compost, tomato plants

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pupuk organik dari kompos daun gamal (Gliricidia sepium) terhadap pertumbuhan dan kualitas tanaman sawi hijau (Brassica juncea). Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan empat perlakuan: B0 = Kontrol, B1 = 1 ton/ha (1 kg/polybag), B2 = 2 ton/ha (2 kg/polybag), dan B3 = 2,5 ton/ha (2,5 kg/polybag). Setiap ulangan terdiri dari 60 tanaman yang dibagi menjadi empat plot, masing-masing plot berisi lima tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan B3 (2,5 kg/polybag) memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman sawi, dengan tinggi tanaman rata-rata 28,47 cm, jumlah daun 13,78 helai, lebar daun 28,93 cm, dan bobot basah tanaman sebesar 302,11 gram. Pupuk kompos ini tidak hanya efektif meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman, tetapi juga memberikan solusi pengelolaan limbah ternak dan mendukung praktik pertanian berkelanjutan. Penggunaannya lebih aman dibandingkan pupuk kimia, menjaga kelembapan akar, serta tidak mencemari lingkungan. Analisis kelayakan ekonomi menunjukkan bahwa usaha pupuk kompos layak dikembangkan. Berdasarkan uji R/C ratio sebesar 3,44, usaha ini memberikan keuntungan, dengan Break Even Point (BEP) produksi minimal 871,83 kg dan harga jual minimal Rp 1.356/kg. Jika harga jual di bawah Rp 1.356/kg, usaha akan mengalami kerugian. Hasil Return on Investment (ROI) sebesar 3,44 menunjukkan bahwa setiap unit investasi menghasilkan keuntungan bersih sebesar 2,44 unit.
