Abstract

Pelatihan ini dilakukan karena hasil data observasi awal tim pengabdi, ditemukan bahwa warga di desa Bincau, kabupaten Banjar, untuk saat ini masih belum ada warga desa yang bisa melakukan penyelenggaraan pengurusan jenazah khususnya memandikan dan mengkafani jenazah, meskipun ada rukun kematian tapi warga disekitar desa sering mendatangkan tokoh diluar desa untuk melakukan kepengurusan jenazah ini yakni memandikan dan mengkafankan. Tujuan diadakannya pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang memandikan dan mengkafani jenazah kepada masyarakat di desa Bincau, kecamatan Martapura, kabupaten Banjar, agar mampu melakukan pelaksanaan memandikan dan mengkafani jenazah dengan sempurna sesuai syariat Islam sehingga tidak perlu lagi mendatangkan tokoh dari luar desa. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah pelatihan, diskusi, dan pendampingan Adapun hasil dari pelatihan ini bisa dikatakan telah berhasil hal ini bisa dilihat dari hasil simulasi rata-rata sudah mampu melaksanakan baik memandikan maupun mengkafani jenazah. Dengan demikian kegiatan pengabdian ini bisa dikatakan memberikan kontribusi positif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat setempat dalam hal memandikan dan mengkafani jenazah. This training was carried out because the results of the service team's initial observation data found that currently there are no villagers in Bincau village, Banjar district, who can carry out the management of corpses, especially washing and shrouding corpses. Even though there is a death ritual, residents around the village often bring in figures from outside the village to carry out the management of corpses, namely washing and shrouding bodies. The purpose of holding this service is to provide knowledge and skills about washing and shrouding corpses to the community in Bincau village, Martapura subdistrict, Banjar district, so that they are able to carry out washing and shrouding corpses perfectly in accordance with Islamic law so that there is no need to bring in figures from outside the village. The methods used in this service activity are training, discussion and mentoring. The results of this training can be said to have been successful. This can be seen from the simulation results, on average they are able to carry out both washing and shrouding corpses. In this way, this service activity can be said to have made a positive contribution in increasing the knowledge and skills of the local community in terms of washing and shrouding corpses.

Abstract

Abstrak The conclusions are related to the two research problems: 1) The Extent of the Use of the CP and the PP in the English Broadcasting Conversations, The ten maxims of the CP and PP are applied in terms of the maxims observances. Their uses vary from the most to the least frequent used. It can be concluded that in carrying out conversations over telephone in MAS FM radio broadcast politeness or being civil turns out not to be as powerful and not as important as being cooperative since the focus is on the topic forwarded and not so much on politeness. Besides, it shows that there are a lot of overlapping and violating of the maxims. The most frequent violated is the Relation Maxim. It is reasonable because some audiences know the presenters, meaning they are regular audiences in the program. Since they are not newcomers in joining the program, they frequently make a mocking joke. Their conversations are even out of topic and prolix. Thus, an utterance could be analyzed based on various angles because it may contain several maxims based on various points of view. And 2) The Speakers Purposes in Terms of Illocutionary Acts (IA), From the four function of IA, the only function, which is not applied at all by the participants, is the Conflictive. The all sub functions: threatening, accusing, cursing, and reprimanding cause conflicts among the participants in carrying out their conversa- tions. In fact, the participants in the radio broadcasting conversations try to avoid conflicts with others because in carrying out a conversation over the telephone is a non face-to-face conversation which is conduc- ted without facial expressions and gestures. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research analyzes about lexical cohesion found in Opinion Column of The Jakarta Post. Lexical cohesion is the central devices for making texts hang together. Lexical cohesion is the way to know how the relationship from one word to another word in the text and lexical cohesion gives the most substantive contribution to the text. By this research is expected to understand and to know the relationship of the word in the text especially the text of Opinion Column of The Jakarta Post. To conduct this research the researcher uses descriptive qualitative method, because the data are in words, phrases, and sentences. The data of this research are opinion column of The Jakarta Post that they are: The Urgency of Economic Democratization, Mediating Indonesia Democracy: The Critical Role of The Media, Humanizing Our Hospitals: Start with Services, Islamic Parties at an Impasse, Need Reform to Avoid The Worst, Protecting The informal Sector in southeast Asia’s Megacities and APEC Summit Will Speed up Economic Integration. To analyze the data the researcher takes the data which consist of reiteration and collocation that are used in The Jakarta Post especially on opinion column. The result of this research show that lexical cohesion which consists of reiteration and collocation is used in The Jakarta Post’s Opinion Column and each kind of lexical cohesion has different function. By using lexical cohesion, the Jakarta Post’s opinion column has words are not monotonous to read. Finally, this research gives contribution to English students, lecturers and people who are interested in analyzing about lexical cohesion; because this study can lead the reader understand the relationship of the words in the text. For the next researches which have the same interest to analyze lexical cohesion, this research is expected that the result of the study is going to lead the next researcher as reference and comparison that might be relevant to their research. Hopefully, further researchers can analyze more deeply and use the new theory of lexical cohesion. Key Term: Lexical Cohesion, Reiteration, Collocation

Abstract

Abstract English speaking ability an experimental is one of the language skill which become the main purpose for the English language learner at the school. The purpose of CLLM is to help the students to communicate in their daily life, but the achievement of the CLLM is felt difficult practically, because in fact, many students are still passive in the classroom. When the students communicate in the target language, students might encounter a situation in which they cannot find words to convey meaning. When the flow of communication in this situation of communication breakdown, they used Community Language Learning Method (CLLM) method to prevent the stagnation in conveying that messages and make the students find it enjoyable to learn. Therefore, this study concerns with students’ ability in learning English by using CLLM.This study is attempt to discover students’ speaking ability for the eight year students’ of SMPN 3 Banjarbaru in the school year 2023/2024. Two research questions formulated: (1) to what extent is the achievement of the speaking ability for the eight year students of SMPN 3 Banjarbaru in the school year 2023/2024? (2) to what extent is the effect of CLL toward students’ speaking ability for the eight year students of SMPN 3 Banjarbaru in the school year 2023/2024?This study was experimental research. So there were two groups of sample, they were experimental and control groups. The population of this study was 160 students. The researcher took 40 students as the sample. As the research instruments which was developed to collect data, the researcher provided some pictures, the students were asked to describe the pictures. While the students were describing the pictures, the researcher recorded it.After collecting and calculating the data, the researcher found that the mean score of pre-test and post-test for experiment group were 46.45 and 51.85, while for control group were 41.2 and 45.3. And in testing the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test formula. The researcher found that t-test was 2.280 and t-table in significant rank 0.05 (5%) was 2.021. It proved that t-test was higher than t-table (2.280 > 2.021). So the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It indicates that Community Language Learning Method (CLLM) was effective in speaking teaching for the eight year students of SMPN 3 Banjarbaru in the school year 2023/2024.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe present study aims at describing the teachers’ method of teaching English writing in the second-semester students of English at Islamic University of Malang, which covers teaching procedures, writing material selection, and the use of instructional media. It also aims at finding the students’ perception of their teachers’ method of teaching writing.Besides the writing teachers of English, teaching method also plays a significant role in writing class since without a method the teachers will not be able to achieve the desired of learning. In writing instruction, there are many methods that can be applied by the writing teachers.This study used the descriptive design. The data were collected through observation, interview, questioners, and documentation and analyzed using a guideline analysis, while the data of the students’ questioners were analyzed using tally system to find the percentage.The subjects of this study consisted of two teachers and their students of English department at Islamic University of Malang. There are 25 students of class C and 23 students of class B.The findings showed that in general, the method of teaching writing applied by the two teachers of writing in Second Semester of English at Islamic University of Malang was in line with the theory of writing instruction, especially that proposed by the Community Language Learning Method. In general, the teaching procedures of the two writing teachers could be considered very good because they used various techniques in teaching writing. Their selection of writing material could be considered very good because they took the writing material from textbook and other resources. Their use of instructional media could be considered good, because the two teachers used two instructional media; whiteboard and its marker, and some pictures from newspapers.The other finding was the diary assignment done by one of the two classes, The students did it every day out of class during the semester. The purpose of this activity was to get students used to write and to make them practice the theory they had learned. Therefore, this activity could be considered very good. And the students’ perception of their teacher’s method of teaching was positive. The teacher successfully made students motivated.Based on the findings, it is suggested that teachers of writing should not use only one method, but also other methods with more variations in the teaching procedure, material selection, and the use of instructional media. In selecting the writing material, it is suggested that they select various writing materials. Because of the importance of instructional media, it is suggested that teachers of writing use and prepare them well. For the second-semester students of English at Islamic University of Malang, it is suggested that they are more independent and active in learning writing.Key words: teaching, methods, English, writing
