Abstract

This Study aims to explain a model of community empowerment through ecotourism development in Sumber Rejo Village, Balikpapan District. Qualitative descriptive methods are used to describe tourism development planning models based on community empowerment and describe ecotourism development strategies. Data analysis was carried out on data from in-depth interviews to determine the community's response regarding the stages of the ecotourism development process through community empowerment. The research results explain that the community is aware of the importance of developing their own capacity to form attitudes, behavior and thought patterns that can foster confidence, enthusiasm and motivation in developing Sumber Rejo Village with its various potentials so that it becomes ecotourism. The community has knowledge and skills in organizational development, as well as building values of togetherness, cooperation, mutual appreciation and respect, mutual help, mutual trust, hard work, a sense of justice and motivation. The research results also explain that the ecotourism development strategy is branding, upgrading, legality, packaging and marketing to maximize the production of processed water spinach and maximize sales results so as to increase opportunities for sustainable development of tourist villages.

Abstract

Tingkat pengangguran terbuka yang tinggi di kalangan lulusan Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK), termasuk SMKS Sabilal Muhtadin Balikpapan, menunjukkan adanya ketidaksesuaian antara keterampilan yang dimiliki lulusan dengan kebutuhan dunia kerja dan industri. Masalah ini diperparah oleh kurangnya pengalaman praktik dan kemampuan soft skill yang dibutuhkan di era digital. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan intervensi strategis melalui pendekatan pembelajaran yang inovatif dan aplikatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan metode Project Based Learning (PjBL) dalam rangka meningkatkan keterampilan kewirausahaan siswa melalui kegiatan berbasis proyek usaha nyata. Metode yang digunakan dalam program ini meliputi pendekatan partisipatif-kolaboratif, experiential learning, mentoring, serta evaluasi-reflektif. Tahapan pelaksanaan program terdiri dari tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan proyek, evaluasi, dan keberlanjutan. Pendekatan PjBL memungkinkan siswa untuk terlibat secara aktif dalam mengidentifikasi masalah, merancang ide bisnis, menyusun Business Model Canvas dan Business Plan, serta melaksanakan dan mengevaluasi proyek usaha melalui kegiatan Market Day. Selain itu, integrasi teknologi digital dan bimbingan dari praktisi kewirausahaan turut memperkuat pencapaian hasil pembelajaran. Hasil program menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan PjBL mampu meningkatkan keterampilan praktikal, kolaboratif, dan kepemimpinan siswa, serta membangun ekosistem kewirausahaan yang berkelanjutan di sekolah. Program ini juga membuka peluang integrasi PjBL ke dalam kurikulum formal dan pembentukan komunitas kewirausahaan siswa sebagai wadah pengembangan usaha pasca program. Dengan demikian, PjBL menjadi strategi efektif dalam menjawab tantangan link and match antara dunia pendidikan dan dunia industri.
