Abstract

The study explores the Historical role of women in service the first centur through a qualitative historical approach with a literature review. The findings show that various tradition in the first century limiting women’s rights and roles. However, historical and biblical research records reveal significant female figures who contributed to religious and social life. Women were actively involved in early Christian communities, played crucial roles in biblical narratives, participate in service. The study highlights the how important the presence of women, especially in service, half of various traditions that existed in the first century limiting women’s rights and roles. The research is giving women an understanding and realize that there are roles and responsibilities that must be carried out ini the midst of challenges that require women to continue to try and fight for their lives individually and with others.

Abstract

This research discusses the History of the Fourth Century Church Council and its Relevance for GMIM. The research method used is a qualitative method with a historical approach. The aim of this research is so that congregations can learn about the history of the fourth century church council and its relevance for GMIM. It is hoped that the results of the research will provide the congregation with an understanding and knowledge of the history of the fourth century church council and its relevance for GMIM. To be able to grow, develop and learn from history and become a congregation that continues to be a blessing. The conclusion obtained is that the GMIM, which is a member of the church, must continue to be updated and reformed so that it can understand the church council of the fourth century and can be a lesson for the church today.

Abstract

Dalam tatanan sosial masyarakat, status pernikahan seseorang sering kali menjadi suatu hal yang rentan dengan stigmatisasi. Bagi kalangan anak muda, pernikahan bukanlah masalah yang mudah untuk diputuskan sehingga membutuhkan banyak pertimbangan. Ada yang memilih untuk menikah, dan apa pula yang memilih untuk tidak menikah. Hal tersebut dapat dialami baik oleh laki-laki maupun perempuan. Namun sering kali bagi perempuan, pilihan untuk tidak menikah dianggap sebagai hal yang merendahkan status. Menyadari pula bahwa ada sektor-sektor tertentu yang mewajibkan seseorang untuk menikah, bahkan pula gereja atau lembaga keagamaan. Padahal orang yang tidak menikah tidak mengurangi status mereka sebagai manusia yang utuh. Melalui penelitian yang dilakukan lewat kajian-kajian pustaka dan melihat realitas gereja dan masyarakat, maka didapati ada masalah-masalah yang harus dihadapi oleh orang-orang, khususnya dalam hal ini perempuan, yang tidak menikah. Didapati pula sifat-sifat yang umumnya dimiliki oleh perempuan yang tidak menikah, dan alasan mengapa tidak menikah. Selain itu pula ternyata ada keuntungan tersendiri bagi orang yang memilih untuk tidak menikah. Karena itu gereja terpanggil juga untuk memberi tempat kepada perempuan yang memilih untuk tidak menikah dan memberikan pelayanan yang utuh kepada semua anggotanya. Pada akhirnya pernikahan merupakan pilihan dan jika memilih untuk tidak menikah maka hiduplah terus bergantung pada Yesus Kristus yang setia.

Abstract

In this research, the aim is to find out why the GMIM Damai Sejahtera Lahendong Youth did bad things in worship gatherings. Along with the development of science and technology, it also greatly influences the behavior of young people in worship gatherings. The increasingly easy use of the internet has been misused by many people, especially young people. The author sees that bad behavior continues to occur and develops in worship fellowships. Therefore, this research will look at the causes of the youth of GMIM Damai Sejahtera Lahedong doing things that are not good in worship fellowship. With this research, it is hoped that this research can be of interest to pay more attention and provide guidance for the youth. This research uses data collection techniques using qualitative methods including namely: interviews, observation, and literature study.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran dan implementasi pelayanan pastoral gereja kepada Orang Dengan Gangguan Jiwa (ODGJ) di Rumah Sakit Jiwa (RSJ) Ratumbuysang dalam perspektif teologi praksis. Fokus penelitian diarahkan pada bagaimana gereja menghadirkan iman Kristen secara nyata melalui pendampingan rohani yang holistik, inklusif, dan kontekstual. Manfaat penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi teologis dan praktis bagi gereja dalam mengembangkan pelayanan pastoral yang berpihak pada kelompok rentan serta memperkaya kajian teologi praksis dalam konteks kesehatan mental. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi literatur, observasi lapangan, dan wawancara mendalam dengan tenaga medis dan pihak yang terlibat dalam pendampingan pasien ODGJ di RSJ Ratumbuysang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelayanan pastoral berupa ibadah, doa, dan kehadiran gereja memberikan dampak positif terhadap penguatan batin, pemeliharaan iman, dan pengharapan pasien ODGJ. Namun, penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa keterlibatan gereja, khususnya dari denominasi besar, masih belum konsisten dan berkelanjutan. Kesimpulannya, pelayanan pastoral kepada ODGJ perlu dipahami sebagai bagian integral dari misi gereja yang menuntut kehadiran nyata, empatik, dan berkesinambungan, sehingga gereja sungguh-sungguh menjadi sarana kasih Kristus yang memulihkan martabat dan menghadirkan pengharapan di tengah luka jiwa manusia.

Abstract

This research aims to examine and analyze in-depth a digital theology-based pastoral care model as a response to pastoral challenges in the digital age. This approach goes beyond the use of technology as a mere tool, but rather integrates core theological principles such as the theology of presence, theology of embodiment, and theology of community with virtual tools and spaces. The methodology used is a qualitative literature study, analyzing key works by digital theologians such as Heidi A. Campbell and Tim Hutchings, and integrating these with pastoral practice.The results of this study demonstrate that effective digital pastoral care requires an understanding of technology as an environment, not just an instrument. This requires spiritual directors to "incarnate" in the digital space, establishing an authentic presence through platforms such as video calls, social media, and chat. Furthermore, digital care enables the formation of supportive virtual communities, bridging geographical synchronization and providing ongoing support. Ethical challenges such as privacy, data security, and non-verbal meanings are also identified as crucial issues that must be addressed through a robust theological framework.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and elaborate on the concept of offering according to theologian J.L. Ch. Abineno and its relevance in the GMIM Betania. Although offering is often understood as an act of giving material things, Abineno offers a deeper theological perspective, where offering is seen as a response of faith and an act of gratitude of the people based on the holy offering of Christ on the cross. The methodology used is a qualitative literature study with a theological-analytical approach to Abineno's works,. The results of the study show that Abineno distinguishes offerings into two main types: Sacrificium (Christ's perfect and once-for-all offering) and Oblatio (the offering of the people as a response of gratitude). Material offerings (money, possessions) are only one concrete manifestation of a more essential offering, namely the complete offering of oneself. Abstract

This study examines the historical development of the GMIM Batak Language Congregation in Manado from 1970 to 2024. This phenomenon is unique because GMIM, founded in the Minahasa region, has opened itself to diverse ethnic groups, including the Batak community. Using a qualitative historical approach, the study reveals that Batak migrants who settled in Manado have made a significant contribution to the life of GMIM by preserving their language and culture in worship. The results show that the establishment and growth of GMIM Batak Language Congregation reflect cultural adaptation, unity in diversity, and the ecumenical spirit of GMIM. The study concludes that this congregation has not only enriched GMIM’s mission but also serves as a model of intercultural Christian fellowship in North Sulawesi.

Abstract

This paper reports a quantitative research on CM Christian forgiveness, reconciliation, and life in GMIM churches in Indonesia. This study examines the actualization of theological beliefs regarding forgiveness in daily relationships using a cross-sectional survey of adult members of various congregations and their role in the vitality of congregations. The concept of forgiveness is heavily asserted as a non-negotiable Christian ministry, and it is commonly experienced as peace in the soul. Respondents associated the forgiveness of other people with obedience to God and the release of anger and bitterness, and they considered other spiritual practices, such as prayer, to be relevant supports towards release. Simultaneously, the participants have a reticent and discriminating attitude: they note that they find it more demanding to forgive serious or recurrent crimes, and they always distinguish between intrapersonal forgiveness and interpersonal reconciliation. It is typically considered that reconciliation would only be acceptable where there is repentance, change of behavior, and relational safety, and in most cases under the mediation of pastors or elders. The sense of congregational climate indicates that teaching forgiveness is perceived to be consistent and clear, and practices of conflict handling and leadership modelling are perceived to be uneven. The patterns of correlation show that a better sense of belonging, perceived unity, and active engagement in ministries are linked to stronger forgiveness and reconciliation orientations. This study concludes that forgiveness and reconciliation are not just theological principles but also practical sources of congregational well-being and valuable tools in Christian witness in a plural and postcolonial society.

Abstract

This study examines how the Christian book, the Buku Renungan Harian Keluarga (RHK), influenced the formation of faith among the members of GMIM Baitel Eris in the Tandengan District. Set in the context of the overall discussion on Protestant spiritual formation and family worship, the study deals with the current application of RHK in home worship, its perception by congregants, and its contribution to spiritual development and family life. Data were collected using a qualitative case study design, where semi-structured interviews with adult congregants, parents, youth, Sunday school teachers, column leaders, and office-bearers of the church were used, supplemented by participatory observations during family and sectoral worship venues and document analysis of RHK editions and church records. Thematic data analysis was conducted in accordance with the steps of data analysis presented by Braun and Clarke. The results indicate that RHK is more strongly integrated into GMIM Baitel Eris' daily piety, and thus, it is a domestic liturgical script that reflects congregational worship. The devotional reflection part is the experience that is found to be the most valuable, as it connects Scripture and everyday life. According to the respondents, they experienced improved spiritual knowledge, increased intimacy with God, self-character development, and improved family relations. The first barrier to regular use was busyness, and the digital formats and proposed interactive features are hints of what needs to be changed in the future. The paper concludes that Christian books continue to play a crucial role in the formation of faith in local GMIM settings and makes pastoral suggestions to support and revitalise the practices of family-oriented devotion in the face of modern-day social and technological transformation.
