Abstract

From a review of previous research on global reactions to food crises, most studies have focused on economic aspects. This review identified the following gaps: (1) There is no study discussing the synergy between the church and the government in addressing food crises; (2) No research is available on the role and social anticipation of communities in the context of food crises. This research is urgently needed because synergy between the government and the church is crucial in the context of food security in North Sulawesi. The objective of this research is to fill this research gap through a holistic and comprehensive approach to the synergy between the Provincial Government of North Sulawesi and the Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa in anticipating the global food crisis by enhancing farming and livestock activities in North Sulawesi. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative design through content analysis combined with a missiology analysis approach of the church. Data collection was carried out using participatory observation, interviews, and literature studies.  The novelty of this research includes: (1) The synergy between the Provincial Government of North Sulawesi and the Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa in responding to and anticipating the global food crisis; (2) The combination of content analysis methods with church missiology analysis as a new approach. The output of this research is a conceptual framework and a strong missiological approach strategy in building and optimizing relevant and effective synergy.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the role of worship as a medium for dialogue between religious communities, focusing on a missiological perspective. Highlighted issues include the lack of comprehensive understanding regarding the role of worship in promoting interfaith dialogue and the scarcity of research specifically linking worship with a missiological approach. This gap needs to be addressed. The research method used is a qualitative approach, conducting a comprehensive literature review on worship, interfaith dialogue, and missiology theory. The results of this study are expected to provide a better understanding of worship's role in facilitating interfaith dialogue. This research is also anticipated to contribute new insights to the field of missiology by exploring how worship can be a powerful tool for the church in fostering understanding and cooperation between different religious communities. The conclusion provides practical recommendations for church leaders, religious figures, and missiology practitioners to use worship as an effective medium for dialogue. By promoting interfaith dialogue through worship, it is hoped to strengthen tolerance, mutual understanding, and cooperation among religious communities, building harmony and peace in a pluralistic society. Ultimately, the goal is to create greater awareness of the importance of respecting religious differences and promoting cooperation through inclusive and dialogical worship practices.

Abstract

Using a missiological lens, this study investigates the GMIM Yerusalem Kinolow church's involvement in human resource development and the congregation's economic empowerment. The purpose of the study is to investigate how the church combines spiritual and material elements to improve the wellbeing of its members. The study centers on the church's handicraft training program, established to equip the congregation with entrepreneurial skills while reinforcing Christian virtues and values. It includes qualitative approaches, such as observations and interviews. Church members who took part in the program provided data, which was then evaluated to find important themes about social effect, spiritual development, and economic growth. The findings demonstrate how well the church's program enhanced the members' technical proficiency and capacity for entrepreneurship. The training's incorporation of Christian concepts led to participants reporting a greater feeling of accountability, integrity, and discipline. Additionally, the program helped participants develop a feeling of solidarity and community, which aided in their spiritual and financial development. Additionally, the church was instrumental in helping members access new economic prospects, even though there are still obstacles to overcome in terms of increasing market access and integrating technology, especially for senior members. The conversation emphasizes the significance of a comprehensive missiological strategy that takes into account people's material and spiritual concerns. The results imply that by using spiritual teachings to direct economic behavior, the church can effectively serve as a facilitator of socio-economic reform. Nonetheless, additional assistance is required to improve market penetration and technical flexibility. This study adds to the body of knowledge on missiology by illuminating the ways in which churches might uphold their theological purpose while promoting economic empowerment. Additionally, it provides helpful suggestions for enhancing church-based economic initiatives, such as the necessity of outside assistance and specialized training to meet the various demands of the membership

The problems related to the revival and re-existence of the old Minahasa beliefs affect the congregation's faith in Minahasa today. The method to solve this problem is qualitative research, which involves collecting scientifically tested literature, such as books and journals, without neglecting field data. Through this discussion, the author offers a new perspective that the old Minahasa religion needs to be studied critically and constructively to highlight its local wisdom to enrich theological efforts in the Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa. A conclusion that confirms that the goal has been achieved and the problem has been answered. This study concludes that the manguni bird symbolizes the fusion of Christianity and Minahasa old traditions that illustrate the identity of salvation and the church's role as the guardian of truth. Progressivity in Minahasa is not only caused by GMIM or the influence of Protestantism but also by actual theological teachings that affect life attitudes based on the foundation of the Bible and GMIM confession of faith; the Manguni bird as a symbol of GMIM represents religious values,  historical, sociological, and anthropological as well as the role of the church in building contextual theology, there is a hereditary call to preserve nature and build Minahasa culture based on biblical teachings with the duty to fellowship and serve amid the diversity of society.

Abstract

Transformation is a change that has taken place totally in this case, both in terms of essence and form. Reformation is a reneval to restore it to its original position. True transformation is change. Transformation is not the same as modivication, because modification only changes the surface, but not the contents. Transformation is dynamic and depends on the vision and mission of an institution, such as the Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa (GMIM) as the context. Although etymologically the transformation and reformation are very different, but both of them influence each other. Transformation does not occur without reform. Transformation moves forward and dumps its original essence, depending on the context. The Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa (GMIM) has stepped up. The highest synod assembly has taken ecclesiological decision to change ecclesiology. Ecclesiologicsl transformationis as institutional awareness of the institution concerning his calling assignments in this world. The impact that occurred after the 78th special synod assembly session, doted 17 to 18 – May – 2016 at walene Tou Tondano, was seen as a motivating force to continue to rise up to carry out the task of calling the church whitch belongs to God. The Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa is a church that has a vision from God and a mission that is driven by the power of the holy Spirit, it must be flexible but firm in its stance to realize the task of calling the church. The Church will not disband and die with various waves of criticism an dissatisfaction as a result of an ecclesiastical decision, but will instead continue to be strong and grow. The Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa is no longer local but has changed to National and Global.

Abstract

This thesis is to highlight, describe, and analyze the relevance of Tontemboan local language in the creative liturgy of the 5th week in the congregation of GMIM Bukit Zaitun Tewasen Amurang IV Region. The problem that arises is that the congregation has begun to forget the Tontemboan language, which is the mother tongue and the identity of the Bukit Zaitun Tewasen congregation, so the author wants to see the relevance of the Tontemboan regional language. Tontemboan language, as an important element of culture, must be passed down from generation to generation so that the congregation will still recognize it. The advancement of globalization and technological advances is now one of the factors that influence the language culture to begin to erode. Through creative liturgy using the Tontemboan local language, it will provide a new atmosphere for the congregation in worship. The research method used to solve the problem is qualitative research, with stages of collecting scientifically tested literature, such as books and journals, without ignoring field data. The author's view is that the Tontemboan language culture is a wealth that only belongs to the Tontemboan tribe and that we must continue for generations. Being inculturated, Tontemboan language culture is integrated with worship but still runs according to the teachings of the Word of God.

This thesis aims to conduct an in-depth study of Offerings in the Alfa Omega Rinegetan congregation in the perspective of Mission Theology. Offerings are a form of gratitude form believers and the offerings given by these believers are collected to sustain the work of church ministry which is part of the implementation of God’s Mission in this world. Making offerings, then, is one way as believers to assist in God’s missionary service through the church. However, the reality that occurs in the GMIM Alfa Omega Rinegetan congregation is that the lack of understanding and meaning of the congregation to give offering also affects the way they give. And in this study the author used qualitative research methods. The results of this study will explain the understanding of the congregation and the responsibility as believers in making offerings in order to help God’s mission work in this world through the church. The end of this paper is a conclusion that affirms the answer to the purpose of the study.
