Abstract

The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) states that the literacy and numeracy of students in Indonesia are in the low category. Indonesia scored 366 and ranked 68 out of 81 countries. Previous research discussed parental involvement in developing early childhood literacy. This study aims to investigate parents' policies in developing numerical literacy in adolescent children. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through questionnaires filled in by parents and interviews related to the interaction between parents and children in the context of numerical literacy. There are 9 respondents, namely mothers of adolescent children who will be studied. The results showed that parents' policies in supporting numerical literacy include providing direct support in learning mathematics, providing adequate learning resources, and implementing daily activities related to numeracy. Obstacles to implementing this policy include parents' limited time, children's lack of interest in numerical literacy, and others. This study concludes that parents view the development of numerical literacy as “very important”. Parents' policies support the development of numerical literacy in adolescent children by involving children in financial management and playing an active role in their activities of adolescent children.

Abstract

The results of the PISA survey conducted by the OECD serve as one of the indicators that the mathematical literacy skills of Indonesian students remain low. Ranking 66th out of 81 countries also indicates that Indonesia is still lagging behind other nations. The purpose of this study is to improve students’ mathematical literacy skills through two alternative learning approaches: Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach to collect data. The population consisted of a junior high school in Yogyakarta, with a sample of two eighth-grade classes. The research instrument was a mathematical literacy test based on PISA-type questions.  The findings indicated that the CTL and PBL approaches were both successful in enhancing students’ mathematical literacy skills. Further analysis through a comparative effectiveness test revealed that the CTL approach was superior to PBL. It is hoped that this research can serve as an alternative reference for educators and future researchers in efforts to enhance students’ mathematical literacy.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical values contained in the traditional house of the Samin community and determine the application to use the concepts in mathematics learning. Ethnographic approach and triangulasi method are used in qualitative research analysis. Data collection techniques were carried out by literature study, participatory observation, documentation and interviews. Triangulasi is used for data variation and validation while ethnografi is used to study and develop cultural understanding. The results showed that there are ednomathematics concepts that are relevant to be applied to mathematics learning such as the shape of the roof, poles, doors, windows and the middle room. The discovery of the concept of flat shapes (square, rectangle, triangle, trapezoid), spatial shapes (block, prism), geometrict transformations (translation, rotation, reflection), and similarity. The mathematical concept in this research can be applied to the school curriculum from elementary to high school. Practical value, this research help students understand mathematics through their own enviroment and cultural. Cultural value, ednomathematics based learning strengthens local identity and cultural presenvation. Use value, the math learning approach is more contextual, fun and relevant ro real life.

Abstract

Kata kunci: Kalkulator, Deep learning, Literatur Review Abstract: Calculators are the most widely used learning media in classrooms. Since their emergence, calculators have undergone significant developments and provided many positive impacts on students. Furthermore, there are four models of calculator integration activities: representation, computation, exploration, and affirmation. Deep learning is an instructional approach that can be integrated with calculators. Its inherent nature, which requires students to construct their own knowledge through exploratory activities, makes it highly suitable for such integration. Deep learning integrated with calculators helps teachers create a learning environment that allows students to study mathematical concepts in depth. However, few studies have examined how to implement calculators within deep learning. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relevance of calculators in mathematics learning and to provide alternative learning settings that integrate calculators based on a selected literature review. The method used is a systematic literature review, in which the researcher collects articles from various databases and selects them according to the PRISMA Statement procedures until eligible articles are obtained. Based on the analysis, it was found that calculators can be integrated into exploration- and inquiry-based learning settings, one of which is deep learning. Keywords: Calculator, Deep learning, Literature Review
