Abstract

Religious moderation does not belong to a particular religion alone, but is a value that exists in various religions and civilizations of the world. This study aims to explore the concept of religious moderation and analyze the role of moderation from the perspective of the Qur'an and Sishu Wujing in preventing religious conflict. With a comparative approach to the Qur'an and Sishu Wujing, this research explores the views of moderation contained in both sources as guidelines for peaceful coexistence. Through understanding the values of religious moderation, it is hoped that concrete strategies can be formulated to promote inter-religious harmony and prevent conflict. This research concludes that religious moderation is very important, especially in the current era, where the goal is to produce a generation that is moderate and not easily influenced by radicalism spread through cyberspace. In both Islam and Confucianism, both religions uphold a sense of tolerance, with the belief that differences are an unavoidable reality and should be a source of strength to complement each other, not to divide.

Abstract

This study critically examines Bukhari Hadith number 5101, which narrates Abu Lahab's exemption from punishment attributed to his act of freeing the slave Tsuwaibah. Methodologically, this library-based research employs the matn criticism approach developed by Shalahuddin Al-Idlibi. Primary data sources include hadith collections, while secondary data comprises various scholarly books, journal articles, Qur'anic interpretation, sirah nabawiyah, and other literature relevant to the research context. The research findings indicate that the hadith's matn does not contradict Qur’anic verses, other authentic hadiths, sirah nabawiyah, rationality, or existing historical facts, and does not have a haphazard meaning. The applied metanarrative criticism definitively confirms that the additional narrative concerning Abu Lahab’s exemption from punishment constitutes a narratorial insertion (idraj). Crucially, this insertion does not diminish the hadith’s overall authenticity, neither in its isnad nor its matn. This study particularly highlights the importance of matn criticism, an area that has historically received less academic attention compared to isnad criticism. Furthermore, it aims to foster the development of more applicable methods of matn criticism within contemporary hadith scholarship. The implications of this research are expected to both enrich existing hadith research methodologies and clarify public understanding regarding the validity of narratives about Abu Lahab’s exemption from punishment.

Abstract

Abstract The story of Noah's Ark is one of the most extensively studied historical narratives by researchers. Available literature remarkably envelops this tale, making it a phenomenal account. However, some texts conclude the narrative of Noah's Ark as soon as the great flood subsides. This has sparked significant curiosity among many. Therefore, this research aims to explore and analyze Noah's condition after the ark landed, what transpired after the great flood ended, who was on board the vessel, whether any humans survived outside Noah's Ark. These points form the core discussion and distinguish this study from previous research. The methodology employed in this study is a literature review, involving in-depth reading and analysis of the events surrounding Noah's Ark, Noah's descendants, and their subsequent dispersion. The findings of this research indicate that Noah's descendants spread across three major continents, becoming the pivotal transition point for civilization from the era of Adam. Keywords: Ark; Civilization; Noah; Transmission.   Abstrak Kisah Bahtera Nuh adalah salah satu cerita sejarah yang paling banyak dikaji oleh para peneliti. Literatur yang tersedia membungkus kisah ini dengan cara yang sangat menakjubkan, menjadikannya salah satu narasi fenomenal. Beberapa literatur hanya mengakhiri penceritaan Bahtera Nuh sampai air bah yang besar surut. Hal ini menimbulkan rasa ingin tahu yang besar bagi sebagian orang. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplor dan menganalisis bagaimana keadaan Nuh setelah bahtera mendarat, apa yang terjadi setelah air bah besar berakhir, siapa saja yang berada di dalam kapal, dan apakah ada manusia yang selamat di luar Bahtera Nuh, menjadi pokok bahasan sekaligus menjadi pembeda dari penelitian sebelumnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kajian Pustaka, yaitu dengan membaca dan menganalisis peristiwa bahtera Nuh, keturunan Nuh dan penyebaran keturunan Nuh secara mendalam. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penyebaran keturunan Nuh menyebar ke tiga benua besar dan menjadi kunci transisi peradaban dari peradaban Adam. Kata Kunci: Bahtera; Nuh; Peradaban; Penyebaran.

Abstract

The interpretation of the Qur'an in local languages is an effort to make Islamic teachings more easily understood by local communities. This study examines Tafsir Nurul Bajan by Moh. Romli and N.H.S. Midjaja, a Qur'anic exegesis written in the Sundanese language. The research aims to analyze its content, method of interpretation, and the Islamic values it contains, particularly within the Sundanese cultural context. Through a literature review, the study finds that this tafsir uses simple and easily understandable Sundanese. Its interpretation emphasizes ethics, sharia, Sufism, and moral messages relevant to daily life. The author also utilizes Sundanese proverbs and expressions to clarify the meaning of the verses. It is concluded that Tafsir Nurul Bajan is a significant example of local tafsir, demonstrating the vital role of Nusantara scholars in conveying Islamic teachings in a contextualized and grounded manner to their local communities.

Abstract

This study examines the multifaceted relationship between the Qur'an and the Hebrew and Aramaic languages, two cognate languages with a long history in the Near East. It aims to systematically analyze the linguistic evidence, including both cognates and loanwords, that demonstrates the profound connection between Quranic Arabic and its Hebrew and Aramaic counterparts. Using a comparative-linguistic and textual-historical approach, the research moves beyond the simple identification of loanwords to explore deeper morphological similarities, syntactic parallelisms, and narrative echoes. The findings indicate that while Quranic Arabic possesses a strong identity, it operates within a Semitic linguistic and religious continuum, particularly with Syriac-Aramaic, which served as the cultural lingua franca of the era. An analysis of core religious vocabulary, prophetic names, and narrative structures reveals a process of dialogue, correction, and theological reframing of pre-existing Jewish and Christian traditions. The paper concludes that this relationship is not one of mere passive borrowing, but rather a dynamic interaction that affirms the theological uniqueness of Islam while being firmly rooted in the broader Semitic landscape. Abstrak: Penelitian ini mengkaji relasi multifaset antara Al-Qur'an dengan bahasa Ibrani dan Aram, dua bahasa serumpun yang memiliki sejarah panjang di Timur Dekat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara sistematis bukti-bukti linguistik, baik berupa kognat maupun kata serapan, yang menunjukkan hubungan mendalam antara bahasa Arab Al-Qur'an dengan bahasa Ibrani dan Aram. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan linguistik-komparatif dan analisis tekstual-historis, penelitian ini melampaui identifikasi kata serapan sederhana untuk mengeksplorasi kesamaan morfologis, paralelisme sintaksis, dan gema naratif yang lebih dalam. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa meskipun bahasa Arab Al-Qur'an memiliki identitas yang kuat, ia beroperasi dalam sebuah kontinum linguistik dan keagamaan Semit, terutama dengan bahasa Aram-Suryani yang berfungsi sebagai lingua franca budaya pada masa itu. Analisis terhadap kosakata keagamaan inti, nama-nama nabi, dan struktur naratif mengungkapkan adanya proses dialog, koreksi, dan pembingkaian ulang teologis terhadap tradisi Yahudi dan Kristen yang telah ada sebelumnya. Makalah ini menyimpulkan bahwa relasi tersebut bukanlah sekadar peminjaman pasif, melainkan sebuah interaksi dinamis yang menegaskan keunikan teologis Islam sambil berakar kuat dalam lanskap Semit yang lebih luas.

Abstract

هذه رسالة تحاول كشف معنى كل ألفاظ في القرآن الكريم من ناحية أسرار اللغة وبدراسة دلالية تحليلية. وعلى سبيل المثال، لفظ جناح الذلّ، كثير من الباحثين وبعض المفسرين يستخدمون تفسير لفظ جناح الذلّ في سورة الإسراء الآية 24 لنتائج التربية فحسب. ولذالك يبحث الباحث لفظ جناح الذلّ من ناحية دقيق علم اللغة العربية من تفسير خواطري حول القرآن الكريم للشيخ متولي الشعراوي، وكما يعرف الباحث أن الشيخ متولي الشعراوي حينما يفسر كل ألفاظ في القرآن دقيقا وواسعا بنظرية العلوم اللغوية. وفي هذه الرسالة، استخدم الباحث طريقة الدراسة المكتبية في مطالعة الكتب المتعلقة بوثائق العلوم عن لفظ جناح الذلّ خصوصا في كتاب تفسير خواطري حول القرآن الكريم للشيخ متولي الشعراوي وبعض كتب التفسير الأخرى. ولحلّ المسألة في هذه الرسالة العلمية استخدم الباحث طريقتين وهما المنهج الوصفي لجمع البيانات ذات الصلة ووصفها، والمنهج التحليلي لتحليل البيانات التي قد جمعت من قبل. ونتائج البحث في هذه الرسالة أن الشيخ متولي الشعراوي يقول أن لفظ جناح الذلّ هو أن الحق سبحانه وتعالى يدعونا أن نقتدي من امثلة الطائر وأن نعامل الوالدين هذه المعاملة كاطائر الذي يحنو على صغاره، ولفظ جناح الذلّ كناية عن الطاعة والحنان والتواضع للوالدين، وينهى الشيخ متولي الشهراوي أن نكون كالطائر الذي يرفع جناحيه ليطير بهما متعاليا على غيره والمقصود هو التكبر على الوالدين وغيرهما، ومن آداب المعاملة للوالدين من معنى لفظ جناح الذلّ يعني الطاعة والحنان والخضوع والتواضع لهما

Abstract

Amidst the dominance of visual media in global popular culture and the challenge for Islamic da'wah to remain relevant, film has emerged as a crucial strategic medium for study. This article aims to explore the relationship between Islam and film through an interdisciplinary approach that includes a historical overview, visual aesthetic analysis, and contextual da'wah (Islamic preaching) values. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method through literature study, using thematic approaches, Islamic semiotics, and social hermeneutics. This study traces the development of cinema in the West, the East (particularly the Islamic world), and Indonesia, highlighting ideological and religious dynamics throughout film history. The analysis reveals that film holds great potential as a contemporary medium for da'wah, capable of symbolically and aesthetically articulating Islamic values. This article addresses a gap in previous studies, which have rarely integrated cross-regional film analysis with Islamic paradigms and modern da'wah.

Abstract

Integrasi filsafat dalam penafsiran Al-Qur'an sering memicu kekhwatiran berupa dikotomi sumber tafsir antara otoritas wahyu dan dominasi rasional. Muhammad Husain al-Dzahabi dalam Al-Tafsir wa al-Mufassirūn mengkritik tegas corak tafsir falsafi yang dianggap menyimpang karena mereduksi sakralitas teks demi justifikasi rasional semata. Penelitian ini bertujuan membedah struktur kritik Al-Dzahabi terhadap tafsir falsafi. Studi ini menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui pendekatan deskriptif-analitis berbasis kepustakaan, dengan mengkaji konsep tafsir falsafi, kitab al-Tafsir wa al-Mufassirūn, dan analisis kritik al-Dzahabi terhadap tafsir falsafi khusunya beberapa tokoh seperti al-Farabi, Ikhwan al-Shafa, serta Ibnu Sina. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Al-Dzahabi menolak pendekatan filsuf seperti Ibnu Sina dan Al-Farabi karena dinilai melakukan dikotomi sumber tafsir, di mana teks dipaksa tunduk pada premis logika melalui takwil yang terlepas dari makna akar kebahasaan dan riwayat yang shahih. Selain itu, analisis kritis penelitian ini juga menyingkap adanya diskursus standar ganda, di mana Al-Dzahabi menerima Fakhruddin Al-Razi yang juga filosofis, mengindikasikan bahwa penerimaannya bergantung pada keselarasan dengan ajaran agama. Secara signifikansi, kajian ini menawarkan perspektif penting bagi studi keislaman kekinian sebagai kritik terhadap tren hermeneutika liberal, menegaskan urgensi metodologi tafsir yang menempatkan wahyu sebagai sumber utama tanpa menafikan peran akal secara proporsional. Implikasinya, pemikiran Al-Dzahabi berfungsi sebagai filter metodologis untuk menjaga otentisitas pesan Al-Qur'an di tengah tantangan rasionalisme modern.

Abstract

This study discusses the contribution of the method of codification (tadwīn) of hadith to the development of early Islamic historiography. The relationship between the tradition of hadith and history is often viewed in a dichotomous manner; hadith is considered a strictly theological-juridical domain, while history (tārikh) is considered a loose narrative. This research aims to deconstruct this view by analyzing the crucial role of hadith codification (tadwīn) in shaping Islamic historiographic methodology. Using qualitative research methods with a descriptive-analytical approach, this study traces the epistemological transition from oral to written traditions in the early centuries of the Hijri. This study outlines four main contributions, namely: (1) hadith as a source of historical information, (2) hadith collection methods that influence historical data tracking techniques, (3) sanad and matan criticism methods that introduce the principle of validation in historical writing, and (4) methods of compiling hadith books that form the structure of historiographic writing, such as the use of tabaqāt approaches and biographies of figures. This paper shows that the methods in the study of hadith have provided a strong epistemological foundation for the Islamic historiographic tradition, especially in the aspects of source accuracy and systematics in the preparation of historical narratives.
