Abstract

International trade, involving interactions between nations, has now become critically important for the future growth and development sustainable. This study examines various trade theories, including absolute advantage, comparative advantage, and the Heckscher-Ohlin model, along with their effects on economic policies that promote growth. The analysis of these theories indicates that the outcomes of international trade have a significant impact on the development strategies of developing countries. This research underscores the crucial role of international trade in fostering economic growth in developing nations, such as Indonesia, through open trade policies that enhance exports and competitiveness. International partnerships, like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) between Indonesia and China, showcase considerable potential for improving infrastructure and connectivity, thereby supporting economic expansion and job creation. Nonetheless, challenges such as safeguarding domestic markets and ensuring the equitable distribution of trade benefits remain to be tackled. Consequently, developing nations need to design balanced trade policies that emphasize economic growth, sustainability, and social welfare, while continuously crafting adaptive strategies to navigate global changes.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out by the Real Work Lecture (KKN) team of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) with the aim of developing ecoprint products as an environmentally friendly innovation as well as a means of empowering creative MSMEs in the environment of SD 040479 Perteguhen, Simpang Empat District, Karo Regency. This program was motivated by the low level of public awareness of the importance of sustainable natural resource management and the limited skills in utilizing the potential of the environment to create products with economic value. This activity is also expected to provide an educational experience for elementary school students in learning about environmentally friendly concepts and creative entrepreneurship from an early age. The activity was held on August 9, 2025, involving participants from among students, teachers, and the community around the school. The implementation method included four stages, namely (1) socialization and environmental education on the basic principles of ecoprint, (2) technical training in ecoprint making, (3) hands-on practice using natural materials, and (4) evaluation and reflection on the results of the work. The technique used was the method of soaking tote bags in hot water at a temperature of 80–90°C using natural materials such as teak leaves, guava leaves, cassava leaves, and hibiscus flowers available around the school. The results of the activity showed that the hot water soaking technique produced soft natural motifs, harmonious color gradations, and leaf patterns

Abstract

The ongoing global energy crisis from 2022 to 2025 has significantly affected the economic and political stability of developing countries, including Indonesia. The fluctuation of oil, natural gas, and coal prices due to geopolitical conflicts and global energy transition has placed strong pressure on Indonesia’s national energy subsidy policy. This study aims to analyze how the global energy crisis influences Indonesia’s energy subsidy policy through a political economy perspective. A qualitative descriptive approach was applied using document and policy discourse analysis, drawing on sources such as Indonesia’s 2025 State Budget Financial Note, reports from the International Energy Agency (IEA), the World Bank, and various government statements. The findings reveal that Indonesia’s energy subsidy policy is not merely economically driven but is also shaped by complex political considerations aimed at maintaining social stability and regime legitimacy. The government utilizes energy subsidies as a political instrument to preserve public trust amid fiscal pressures resulting from global energy price volatility. This study contributes theoretically by strengthening the understanding of energy subsidies as a politicaleconomic instrument, and practically by providing policy recommendations for a more transparent, gradual, and sustainable energy subsidy reform aligned with Indonesia’s energy transition goals.
