Abstract

This research examines a Toraja culture-based mathematics learning model, known as Beradat, through a literature study method. The Beradat model consists of five continuous stages: ma'parapa (motivation and problem identification), ma'kombongan (problem posing and small group discussion), ma'kombongan kalua' (class discussion), feedback, and mantaa and didosa (reward and reinforcement). Each stage is designed to create a conducive learning atmosphere, respect local culture, and develop students' mathematical skills and understanding comprehensively. The research found that the Beradat model has a number of advantages, including high cultural integration, increased active student engagement, a motivating reward system, and the development of social skills and a positive classroom environment. The model also adopts the principles of problem-based learning, encourages group work, and creates a respectful social system. However, there are challenges in its implementation, such as the need for strong training and support for teachers, time challenges in a collaborative approach, and potential implementation failure if not well supported. Overall, the Toraja culture-based mathematics learning model has great potential in improving students' mathematical understanding and social skills. However, its success requires adequate preparation and support to be effectively implemented in various eduational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the conceptual change of prospective elementary school teachers after participating in science learning based on local wisdom using Conceptual Change Texts. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method involving 30 Primary School Teacher Education students from Universitas Kristen Indonesia Toraja enrolled in the Basic Science Concepts course. The level of conceptual change was identified through a four-tier diagnostic test and assessments in the Student Worksheet, following established guidelines for determining levels of conceptual change. The results showed that approximately 12.97% of students were at the level of Initial Scientific Conception (ISC), 6.98% at the Static (S) level, 77.18% at the Reconstruction (R) level, 4.01% at the Construction (C) level, and none at the Disorientation (D) level. This study demonstrates that science learning based on local wisdom, using conceptual change texts, effectively minimises misconceptions and leads students to achieve conceptual change at the construction and reconstruction levels.

Abstract

This research was conducted at UPT SMPN 1 Makale Selatan and was motivated by the limited availability of digital teaching materials and printed books in the Informatics subject for Grade VIII, particularly on the Computer System topic. Although students have been permitted to use Android devices in the learning process, their utilization has not been optimal and is still limited to searching for additional information. The objectives of this study are: (1) to identify the needs for developing Android-based digital teaching materials, (2) to design Android-based digital teaching materials, and (3) to test the validity and practicality of Android-based digital teaching materials in the Informatics subject for Grade VIII. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Richey & Klein development model, which consists of three stages: Planning, Production, and Evaluation. The research subjects included media experts, material experts, teachers, and 29 students of Grade VIII A. The instruments used in this study were observation, interviews, and questionnaires for validity and practicality testing. The results showed that the Android-based digital teaching materials developed obtained a validity score of 91.25% from media experts (very valid) and 90% from material experts (very valid). The practicality test results reached 88.06% from students (very practical) and 87.5% from the teacher (very practical). Thus, it can be concluded that the Android-based digital teaching materials developed using the Kodular platform are valid, practical, and feasible to be used in teaching Informatics for Grade VIII at UPT SMPN 1 Makale Selatan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Kristen Makale. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kebutuhan pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis e-book interaktif, desain pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis e-book interaktif , tingakat validitas dan kepraktisan bahan ajar berbasis e-book interaktif. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan R&D (Research & Development) dan mengadopsi model Alessi & Trolip yang memiliki tiga tahap yaitu perencanaan, desain, & pengembangan. Model ini dikembangkan oleh Stephen M. Alessi & Trolip. Hasil temuan masalah ditemukan bahwa penggunaan bahan ajar masih belum dioptimalakan sedangakan fasiltas seperti koneksi internet sudah cukuo memadai. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu (1). Bentuk penyajian bahan ajar e-book interaktif yang dirancang disesuaikan dengan tujuan pembelajaran, (2) desain pengembangan bahan ajar dalam bentuk link. (3) bahan ajar ini termasuk kedalam kateori “sangat valid” dengan nilai persentase 91,1% dari ahli media, dan 93,3% pada kategori “sangat valid” pada penilaian ahli materi serta multimedia pembelajaran interaktif terintegrasi evaluasi termasuk kedalam kateori “sangat praktis” berdasarkan penilaian kepraktisan guru 95,65%, dan penilaian kepraktisan oleh siswa 94,4%, sehingga bahan ajar berbasis e-book interaktif ini dinyatakan sangat praktis digunakan dalam pembelajaran.
