Abstract

This study examines existentialism from the perspective of the Qur'an by emphasizing the concept of individual freedom and responsibility. Existentialism, which developed in Western philosophy through the thoughts of figures such as Martin Heidegger and Jean-Paul Sartre, emphasizes individual freedom in determining the meaning of life. In Islam, this freedom is balanced with moral and spiritual responsibility as explained in the Qur'an. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a content analysis method to examine the verses of the Qur'an, such as QS. Asy-Syams, QS. Al-Insan, and QS. Al-Kahfi. The results of the study show that the Qur'an emphasizes human freedom in choosing a path in life, but every choice has consequences that must be accounted for before Allah. In addition, this study identifies the differences between existentialism in Islam and the West. In Islam, individual freedom is always related to submission to Allah and ethical values, while Western existentialism emphasizes individual autonomy without transcendental attachment. This study confirms the relevance of existentialism in facing the challenges of modern life, especially in the search for the meaning of life and identity. This research is expected to enrich academic studies on the integration of existentialism and Islamic values in various fields, such as education, ethics, and social life.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of philosophy in the development of modern pedagogical science, focusing on the application of Islamic philosophy in education during the era of globalization. The background of this research lies in the increasingly complex challenges of education, such as the advancement of digital technology, cultural diversity, and the demands for competency-based learning. This study aims to explore how philosophy, particularly Islamic philosophy, can provide a strong philosophical foundation for developing educational theories and practices relevant to the needs of modern society. The method employed is a qualitative approach with a literature review. Data were collected by analysing literature related to educational philosophy, epistemology, ontology, and axiology. The findings reveal that philosophy, especially Islamic philosophy, provides a robust theoretical basis for developing holistic education that integrates intellectual, moral, and spiritual dimensions. Applying Islamic philosophical values can cultivate academically intelligent, morally upright individuals capable of addressing global challenges. This study concludes that Islamic philosophy is highly relevant in addressing modern educational challenges by integrating academic, moral, and spiritual aspects into a comprehensive educational curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of speech acts in Ustadz Adi Hidayat's lecture entitled "The Key to Success and Happiness", with a pragmatic approach through the theory of speech acts developed by J.L. Austin and John Searle. Austin's theory classifies speech acts into three types, namely locution, illocution, and perlocution, which are then further elaborated by Searle into five illocutionary categories: assertive, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with content analysis techniques on video transcripts of lectures. The results of the study showed that locutionary acts were used to convey literal information about Islamic values. Illocutionary acts were found in the form of assertive (affirmation), directive (advice and command), expressive (expression of emotion and belief), and interrogative (rhetorical questions). Meanwhile, perlocutionary acts successfully formed psychological and spiritual effects on listeners, such as religious awareness, increased motivation for worship, and a more transcendental orientation to life. These findings confirmed that religious lectures contained rhetorical and pragmatic power that had a significant impact on the audience. This study contributes to enriching the study of pragmatics, especially in the context of Islamic preaching communication.

Abstract

This article explores the role of aqidah in shaping Muslim character in the digital era through the perspectives of theology and psychology. The study is motivated by a moral crisis amidst rapid technological advancements. Through a literature-based approach, the study highlights aqidah as the foundation of Islamic beliefs that shapes behavior aligned with the values of the Qur'an and Sunnah, both in relationships with Allah and with fellow humans. Aqidah reinforces values such as honesty, responsibility, and justice, including in the digital space, which is fraught with challenges like misinformation and hate speech. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating aqidah education with psychology, such as behaviorism theory, through three stages: understanding, loving, and practicing good values. Instilling aqidah from an early age is deemed critical for character development. This article offers an interdisciplinary solution to the moral challenges faced by younger generations, demonstrating that strong aqidah equips individuals to manage digital behavior, adhere to Islamic values, and become dignified, ethical, and responsible individuals. The study provides both practical and theoretical contributions to Islamic character education relevant to the modern era.
