Abstract

Background: Premature rupture of membranes (KPD) is the rupture of the amniotic membrane before there are signs of labor and after one hour is not followed by labor. Sectio caesarea (SC) or cesarean section is a surgical procedure to remove the fetus through an incision or action on the uterine and abdominal walls, provided that the fetus is healthy and weighs more than 500 grams. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between premature rupture of membranes and cesarean section delivery. Methods: This type of research is quantitative using observational analytic research design, with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was the medical record data of patients with maternity pathology or with inpatient complication with simple random sampling. The results of the study were analyzed by the chi-square test. Results: There were 49 mothers diagnosed with premature rupture of membranes with sectio caesarean delivery with an expected value of (42.6%) with mothers who experienced premature rupture of membranes who performed sectio caesarean delivery and 23 mothers with an expected value of (20%) who experienced premature rupture of membranes and did not perform sectio caesarean delivery. The results of the study obtained a P-Value of 0.002 <0.05. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between premature rupture of membranes and cesarean section delivery at Budi Kemuliaan Hospital, Batam City in 2022.

Abstract

Menstruation is an important part of a woman's reproductive cycle, but menstrual problems can affect the normal lives of teenagers and adult women. Menstrual disorders that occur are irregular or infrequent menstrual cycles. Menstrual cycle disorders due to imbalance of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinezing Hormone (LH) so that estrogen and progesterone levels are not normal. Several studies addressing the problem of psychosocial risk, infertility. This type of research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional study conducted at Harapan Utama High School in January. The sampling technique is total sampling with a total sample of 94 students. The results of the study were analyzed by Chi-square. Research Results 94 respondents, there were 10 students (55.6%) who had a high-efficiency BMI and a menstrual cycle of more than 8 students (44.4%) who had a very-good IMT recently had a menstrual cycle. Then as many as 28 students (58.3%) who had a normal BMI increased the normal menstrual cycle and as many as 20 students (41.7%) who had a normal BMI increased the menstrual cycle. In addition, as many as 6 students (21.4%) who had obesity-obesity BMI increased the normal menstrual cycle and as many as 22 students (78.6%) who had obesity-BMI increased obesity. Chi-square test results obtained p = 0.006 (p≤0.05).Based on this study, there is a relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and Menstrual Cycle Disorders in Batam Harapan Utama High School Students in 2020

Abstract

Background: Prenatal education interventions are widely implemented in routine antenatal care to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes. However, evidence regarding their effectiveness remains inconsistent across populations and intervention modalities. Objective: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of prenatal education interventions in reducing maternal anxiety and improving birth-related outcomes. Methods: A systematic search of PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and PsycINFO was conducted from database inception to January 2024. Eligible studies included randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental designs assessing prenatal education interventions with outcomes related to maternal anxiety and birth metrics. Two reviewers performed screening, data extraction, and risk of bias assessments independently, following PRISMA guidelines and utilising the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. Results: Twenty-eight studies encompassing 5,847 participants were included. Meta-analysis showed a significant reduction in maternal anxiety associated with prenatal education (standardised mean difference [SMD] = –0.42, 95% CI: –0.58 to –0.26, p < 0.001). While significant improvements were observed in maternal knowledge (SMD = 0.65) and self-efficacy (SMD = 0.51), evidence for effects on clinical outcomes such as cesarean delivery rates and birth weight was limited and inconsistent. Conclusions: Prenatal education interventions are effective in reducing maternal anxiety and enhancing maternal knowledge and self-efficacy. However, their impact on clinical birth outcomes remains unclear, highlighting the need for further high-quality studies with standardised methodologies and long-term follow-up.

Abstract

Background: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in Indonesia remain high and pose significant challenges in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030. One of the contributing factors is the low awareness among pregnant women regarding the danger signs of pregnancy. This community service activity aimed to improve maternal health literacy through structured education on pregnancy danger signs at Tridi Clinic, Batam. Methods: The intervention involved 60 pregnant women and employed pre-test and post-test assessments, lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, and the distribution of educational materials. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the percentage increase in knowledge. Results: A significant improvement was observed in participants’ knowledge, with scores increasing from 52.3% in the pre-test to 83.7% in the post-test. The educational methods used proved effective, supported by participants’ motivation, health facility support, and the competence of the facilitator team. Conclusion: Structured education on pregnancy danger signs effectively enhances pregnant women's knowledge. Similar programs should be replicated regularly to support efforts in reducing maternal and infant mortality in Indonesia.
