Abstract

Learning batik motif design at Vocational High Schools requires learning media that can facilitate conceptual understanding visually and interactively in accordance with students’ characteristics. However, the use of interactive learning media that supports the improvement of students’cognitive abilities at SMKN 3 Pekalongan is still limited. This study aims to develop interactive learning media using Genially and to analyze its effectiveness in improving students’ cognitive abilities in traditional and contemporary batik elements at SMKN 3 Pekalongan. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model. The research subjects consisted of 61 eleventh-grade KKBT students, who were divided into an experimental class and a control class to examine the effectiveness of the developed learning media. The efectiveness test showed an increase in the learning outcomes in the experimental class from 74.45 to 89.55, with N-gain value 0.657 (moderate category), while the control class obtained an N-gain of 0.21 (low category). The Independent Sample Test results indicated a significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. Therefore, the Genially-based interactive learning media is declared feasible, practical, and effective for use in learning.

Abstract

The assumption that achievement in microteaching directly translates into effective teaching practice performance remains widely accepted in teacher education, yet empirical evidence, particularly in vocational contexts such as fashion education, remains limited and inconclusive. This study aims to examine the relationship between microteaching achievement and teaching practice performance among preservice teachers in fashion education. Employing a quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design, the study involved 33 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected from institutional academic records and analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality testing, and Spearman's rho correlation. The results indicate that both microteaching achievement and teaching practice performance are in the high category with low variability; however, the correlation between the two variables is not strong enough to suggest a direct or linear relationship. These findings imply that competencies developed in simulated teaching environments do not automatically transfer to authentic classroom contexts, particularly in vocational education that requires the integration of technical and pedagogical skills. The study highlights the need to redesign microteaching to be more contextually authentic and aligned with real teaching demands, thereby contributing to the improvement of teacher education programs and the development of more adaptive and context-sensitive teaching competencies.

Abstract

Party wear is a fashion product that continues to develop in response to the increasing demand for formal attire that not only serves functional purposes but also reflects aesthetic value and cultural identity. This study aimed to create a women's party dress entitled Rynetta Dress, which integrates traditional elements and embellishments into a modern design. The study employed a creative research method consisting of design planning, pattern making, fabric cutting, sewing, garment structure installation, and decorative finishing. The main materials used were satin fabric combined with lining, tricot, boning, beads, pearls, and floral appliqués as decorative elements. The result is a women's party dress featuring an I-line silhouette and a mermaid-style skirt that creates an elegant and feminine appearance. The uniqueness of the design lies in the use of a detachable bolero with patterned fabric accents on the shoulder area as the garment's focal point, complemented by embellishment details that enhance its aesthetic value. The results indicate that the product demonstrates compatibility between the design concept, material selection, construction techniques, and the characteristics of the target users, namely women aged 20–35 years. This work is expected to serve as an alternative reference for developing party dress designs that harmoniously combine modern and traditional elements.
