Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has destroyed almost all of the world's tourism activities. But behind that, the pandemic brings opportunities to change the tourism industry, such as creating new trends for people to travel such as nature tourism, staycations, and road trips because they are considered safer. One of the destinations that tourists choose to unwind is Borobudur. The tourist village located in the buffer zone of the Borobudur destination is Pagerharjo Village which has 10 hamlets. However, until now there has been no pattern of travel involving all hamlets in the Pagerharjo Village area. This study aims to produce recommendations for several travel patterns based on an inventory of tourist attractions, facilities and infrastructure, accessibility, distance and travel time in Pagerharjo Village. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods using in Ibrahim (2015). The data obtained were based on interviews with the Borobudur Authority Agency (BOB), the Village Head of Pagerharjo Village and Kompepar of Pagerharjo Village. So that the resulting recommendations will make it easier for tourists to travel in Pagerharjo Village.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the critical success factors for promoting gastronomic tourism, focusing on the role of local culinary attractions and the compelling power of storytelling. A systematic literature review was conducted, utilizing databases such as Google Scholar to gather relevant publications from 2020 to 2022. Key terms like “gastronomy,” “tourism,” and “promotion” guided the search, and only high-quality articles published in reputable journals were included, resulting in twenty selected publications for analysis. The findings reveal that tourism-related factors are the most frequently mentioned in the literature, highlighting their significance in shaping the overall gastronomic tourism experience. Additionally, local cuisine and destination image were identified as crucial elements, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach to promotion strategies. This approach should integrate various aspects, including food, destination appeal, and positive imagery, to create compelling and memorable tourism experiences. The study concludes that an effective gastronomic tourism promotion strategy must integrate these critical success factors, with storytelling playing a key role in connecting tourists to a destination’s cultural and culinary heritage. This research contributes to the literature by comprehensively analyzing the essential elements in promoting gastronomic tourism. It offers insights for developing strategies that promote gastronomic tourism, preserve cultural heritage, support local economies, and create a deeper connection between tourists and their destinations.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the integration stages of gastronomic tourism in the Likupang Special Economic Zone. Several potential culinary icons have been identified and can be developed as gastronomic tourism attractions for the SEZ Likupang. The research method used is qualitative. The data collection techniques used include field observations, in-depth interviews, and literature studies to obtain a complete picture of the efforts to integrate gastronomic tourism in the development of the SEZ Likupang destination. In-depth interviews were conducted during observations with 7 key informants across SEZ Likupang stakeholders, namely the government, entrepreneurs, and culinary practitioners. This research aims to identify key factors influencing gastronomic tourism integration in the Likupang SEZ and measure its feasibility through stakeholder perspectives and policy alignment. Specifically, it evaluates the level of current integration efforts and identifies the economic and cultural impact of gastronomic tourism on the local community. The purpose of this research is to analyze the conditions and identify the potential so that it can provide strategic recommendations for the central and regional governments to initiate the integration stages of gastronomic tourism using the methodological framework developed by the UNWTO. The results of this study indicate that the SEZ Likupang is still in the early stages of destination development and has not made systematic efforts to integrate its gastronomic tourism potential. In addition, there are also 14 culinary icons and 10 recommendations for the integration strategy stages of gastronomic tourism that can be developed and implemented in the development of the SEZ Likupang.
