Abstract

The Tebar Huffadz program is a mosque-based initiative aimed at disseminating Qur'anic education within the community. This study seeks to analyze the persuasive communication strategies employed in the Tebar Huffadz program at Masjid Ibadurrahman Cembor, as well as to assess their effectiveness in enhancing community engagement and addressing existing social barriers. Adopting a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research focuses on the persuasive communication strategies implemented in the program. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with the mosque’s management board (takmir), religious figures, and community members involved, as well as through program documentation. The findings reveal that the persuasive communication strategies used in this program include a personal approach to religious leaders, the use of familiar terminology within the community, and message delivery rooted in local and socio-religious values. These strategies have proven effective in introducing and implementing mosque-based programs in environments with strong religious affiliations. The utilization of community-recognized terminology, the involvement of religious leaders as primary communicators, and message delivery that prioritizes social and spiritual values are the key factors behind the program’s success

Abstract

Islam is a religion that assigns its people to broadcast and disseminate Islam to each other, therefore Islam is also called the religion of da’wah. Da’wah bil hal is da’wah with an emphasis on concrete actions, not just saying but also giving an example as a good figure. Following good communication, it will make it easier for preachers to preach. This study aims to find out the forms of the communication strategy of da’wah bil hal. The method in this study uses literature review as qualitative research. The results prove that the practical forms of the communication strategy of da’wah bil hal are divided into four, namely the strategy of da’wah bil hal through communication, the strategy of da’wah bil hal through social action, the strategy of da’wah bil hal through example, and the last one through the mosque.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the influence of Service Quality and Worship Motivation on the attendance of dawn prayer congregations at Al Iman Mosque in Surabaya, both individually and simultaneously. A quantitative approach was used with a survey method involving 70 congregants selected through purposive sampling. The data were analysed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the SmartPLS 4 application. The results showed that Service Quality did not have a significant effect on Congregation Attendance, with a p-value of 0.834 (>0.05), while Worship Motivation had a positive and significant effect on Congregation Attendance, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). Simultaneously, both variables affect Congregation Attendance with an R-square value of 0.209, indicating that 20.9% of the variation in Congregation Attendance can be explained by Service Quality and Worship Motivation, while the rest is influenced by other factors outside the model. The limitations of this study lie in its scope, which only covers one mosque and focuses on congregants attending the dawn prayer, so the generalisation of the findings is still limited. Practically, the results of this study provide input for mosque managers to place greater emphasis on strengthening the spiritual motivation of congregants, not just on improving physical services. Socially, these findings show that strengthening ukhrawi values can be key to building sustainable religious participation in urban communities.
