Abstract

This study presents a waste management intervention model based on Jürgen Moltmann’s Theology of Hope at the GMIM Sion Woloan congregation in the Tomohon Two region. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, documentation, interviews, and literature review, then analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that although theological motivation regarding the importance of reduction, separation, and recycling has been conveyed in sermons by designated ministers, actual practices in the field have yet to be implemented. This is also underpinned by a lack of segregated facilities, technical understanding, and cross-sector synergy. Therefore, the formulation of an integrated homiletics of hope, enhancements to infrastructure, and partnerships with government bodies and recycling institutions are key to realizing a sustainable ecological liturgy. These findings affirm that eschatological hope can mobilize the congregation to care for creation in concrete ways.

Abstract

This research aims to understand how the meaning of this tradition is formed through social interactions, using the symbolic interactionism approach of George Herbert Mead. The main question posed is how individuals and the community of Pangian Barat Village develop shared meaning through participation in the Kolubung tradition. The research methodology employs a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, along with thematic analysis. Data were collected from members of the community involved in the Kolubung tradition and analyzed to identify the social meanings that are formed in the practice. The results of the study indicate that the Kolubung Tradition functions as a symbol of mourning and as a space for building social solidarity and strengthening relationships among community members. This finding highlights the importance of preserving local traditions as part of social identity and community solidarity, even in the face of changing challenges. This research enriches the understanding of the role of symbols in local traditions and can serve as a foundation for further research regarding the role of the younger generation in maintaining these traditions.

Abstract

The development of the morality of young Christians in the Mandolang Satu area still shows some engaging in free association, leading them to fall into promiscuity, drug abuse, and excessive drinking. The research aims to highlight and describe the characters of millennial youth shaped within Christian family life and to examine the exemplary figures in the Bible that impact the moral development of millennial youth. This study employs a qualitative method, where the researcher acts as the primary instrument and adapts to the typical situations regarding the collection of predominantly qualitative data. The researcher will describe various perspectives and experiences of informants regarding their moral development based on Christian moral norms and principles, compared to the examples set by Jeremiah and Timothy. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentary studies. The research findings conclude that the character of millennial youth is shaped from childhood and carries on into adulthood within Christian family life. The examples set by Jeremiah and Timothy in the Bible have positive impacts on the moral development of millennial youth but are still limited to understanding and not yet practiced in daily life. The moral development of young people in the millennial era is declining due to societal changes, and free association is considered acceptable, making it difficult for parents and the church to transform the character of millennial youth who no longer follow the examples of Jeremiah and Timothy.
