Abstract

Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) is one form of implementation of the Tri Dharma of higher education, namely community service. In the KKN activities carried out in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village, Lembar District, the Mataram University KKN student group carried out various activities with the main target of handling problems in the field. In the KKN PMD activities carried out in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village, Lembar District, West Lombok Regency, the KKN PMD Student group of Mataram University carried out various activities with the main target of addressing problems in the context of Green Economy. Jembatan Kembar Timur Village is a village where most of the population earns a living as farmers and breeders. In this village there is one hamlet that is located on a high hill, the hamlet is Tibu Lilin Hamlet which is the only hamlet in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village that is located on a hill. There are still many people who are not aware of the importance of cleanliness and how to manage waste properly. Therefore, the purpose of implementing this KKN PMD activity is to overcome several problems related to the community's difficulty in minimizing household waste, and the community's dependence on the use of chemical fertilizers which can have a negative impact on crop yields and damage the soil, lack of community knowledge about the use of compost. There are several methods carried out, namely surveys and socialization, as well as training in making fertilizer from household waste. Household waste is often a complex problem in various regions, including in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village, West Lombok. One solution to overcome this problem is to process organic waste into compost using a biopore system. This KKN PMD UNRAM activity aims to identify the effectiveness of the biopore system in processing household waste into compost, and analyze its impact on soil quality and the environment in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village. The methods used include making biopore holes, filling in organic waste, and monitoring the decomposition process. The results showed that the biopore system is able to accelerate the decomposition process of organic waste, produce quality compost, and provide significant benefits in improving soil fertility and reducing the volume of waste that must be disposed of. In addition, the implementation of this system at the household level is also proven to increase public awareness of the importance of environmentally friendly waste management. Thus, the biopore system can be a sustainable solution in household waste management in rural areas.

Abstract

The abstract nature of mathematics often makes students feel challenged, bored, and even anxious during the learning process. Therefore, mathematics learning should be interactive, enjoyable, and motivating. This study aimed to develop ethnomathematics-based comic learning media that connects the concept of cylindrical solid geometry with the traditional Sasak musical instrument Gendang Beleq to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of 29 seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Lingsar, consisting of 10 male and 19 female students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), but was limited to the Develop stage. Research instruments included validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The analysis focused on the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the media. The results indicated that the developed comic media was categorized as “highly valid” with an average percentage of 81.73%, “highly practical” with an average percentage of 92.65%, and “effective” with an N-Gain score of 0.73 (high category). Furthermore, this media successfully increased students’ learning interest, reinforced contextual conceptual understanding, and fostered an appreciation of local culture. The visual and narrative presentation of the comic made the learning process more enjoyable and meaningful.

Abstract

Background: Mass media plays a crucial role in constructing political conflict discourse through discursive strategies that can influence public perception. The tension between West Java Governor and Regional Representative Council (DPRD) reflects complex local political dynamics where media construction becomes significant in shaping public opinion. Objective: This study aims to analyze how online media constructs the conflict between West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi and West Java DPRD through Teun A. Van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis approach, focusing on macro structure, superstructure, and micro structure in news texts. Method: This research employs qualitative descriptive method with critical discourse analysis. Population and Sample: The population consists of all online news texts discussing the conflict, with one representative news text selected through purposive sampling. Instrument and Data Analysis: The researcher serves as human instrument with Van Dijk analysis table covering three structural levels. Data analysis follows Van Dijk's model encompassing macro structure (topics and subtopics), superstructure (schematic), and micro structure (semantic, syntactic, stylistic, and rhetorical). Results: The analysis reveals that online media is not neutral in constructing political conflict discourse, using pro-executive framing strategies, "us versus them" dichotomization, and active-passive sentence construction to strengthen executive dominance. Conclusion: Critical awareness of media discourse construction is essential for healthy democratic processes and balanced journalism practices.

Abstract

Background: Literary works often portray complex psychological conditions through characters’ inner struggles, providing insight into human emotional dynamics. Specific background: The novel Tersesat Setelah Terlahir Kembali presents a protagonist who experiences profound psychological turmoil following traumatic loss. Knowledge gap: Previous literary studies in Indonesia frequently describe inner conflict superficially and rarely integrate psychoanalytic and humanistic psychological frameworks in a structured manner. Aims: This study aims to examine the stages of the protagonist’s inner conflict and psychological disturbance using Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic concepts and Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Results: The findings reveal three sequential phases of inner conflict: initial emotional pressure, psychological breakdown, and posttraumatic emotional confusion, marked by imbalance among id, ego, and superego alongside unmet psychological needs. Novelty: This study offers an integrated reading of Freudian and Maslovian perspectives to explain the gradual progression of literary inner conflict. Implications: The results contribute to literary psychology by demonstrating how fictional narratives reflect complex human psychological processes and provide a deeper understanding of trauma representation in literature. Highlights The protagonist’s inner conflict unfolds through three psychological stages. Trauma is portrayed as a gradual and cumulative psychological process. Freudian and Maslovian perspectives offer a complementary literary reading. Keywords Literary Psychology, Inner Conflict, Psychological Trauma, Psychoanalytic Theory, Humanistic Psychology
