Abstract

Natural disasters floods are the most common disasters found almost everywhere, floods can cause damage and can even take lives. The city of Padang is often hit by flood disasters which result in damage and loss for those affected. This research aims to 1) To find out the results of identifying flood-prone areas by utilizing remote sensing and spatial analysis techniques in Padang City; 2) To determine the level of flood vulnerability by utilizing remote sensing and spatial analysis techniques in Padang City. This research uses an overlay method which combines several parameters. Parameters for identifying areas that have the potential for flooding in this research include slope, rainfall, land use, elevation, soil type, and river buffer. Each of these parameters is given a different scoring value and weight, then an overlay analysis is carried out and a flood hazard map will be produced as a result of the combination of parameters used. After obtaining the results from the overlay analysis of all parameters, the map of potential flood areas will be divided into 3 vulnerability classes, namely low, medium and high vulnerability classes. The results of the research are that the low vulnerability class has an area of 33854.4 ha with a percentage of 49% of the total area of Padang City, the medium vulnerability class has an area of 26337.6 with a percentage of 38.2% of the total area, and the high vulnerability class has an area of 8823.3 ha with a percentage of 12.8% of the total area.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze land suitability for rice cultivation in Nagari Panampuang using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the matching method. This method compares land characteristics, such as soil texture, slope, water availability, and climate, with the growth requirements of rice plants. The data used include topographic maps, land use maps, and climate and soil data. The analysis results show that most areas in Nagari Panampuang have varying levels of land suitability for rice cultivation, with some locations recommended for further development. Map overlays indicate that S1 land (Highly Suitable) covers 226 hectares in Jorong Kubu, Surau Labuah, Surau Lauik, and Lurah, with highly supportive conditions. S2 land (Moderately Suitable), covering 17 hectares in Surau Labuah, has minor constraints, while S3 land (Marginally Suitable), covering 116 hectares in Bonjo, Lundang, and Sungai Baringin, has significant limitations. S1 land has the greatest potential, while S2 and S3 lands require more effective management.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of teacher communication with students so as to influence student learning activities in geography subjects at SMA Negeri 1 Baso. The type of research in this study is ex-post facto research with a quantitative approach. This research consists of two variables, namely the independent variable (X), namely the teacher's communication pattern with students and the dependent variable (Y) learning activity. The population in this study were all class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Baso who studied geography subjects totalling 251 students and a sample was drawn so that 71 students were obtained as respondents. Data collection is done by means of observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistical analysis, simple regression, hypothesis testing, correlation analysis and the coefficient of determination. The results of this study indicate that one-way communication patterns are in the high category, two-way communication is in the medium category, many-way communication patterns are at the medium category level, and student learning activities are at the medium category level. Based on simple regression analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant positive influence between teacher communication with students and learning activities in geography subjects at SMA Negeri 1 Baso.
