Abstract

Hasil observasi yang dilakukan dengan 26 peserta didik kelas VIII SMPN 24 Semarang, diketahui kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPA tergolong rendah dibuktikan dengan hasil tes dengan soal yang memuat indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan model Learning Cycle 5E dengan praktikum riil dan praktikum virtual terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan menganalisis tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta. Pengambilan sampel penelitian ini menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Jenis penelitian yaitu penelitian eksperimen dengan desain penelitian quasi experiment dengan nonequivalent control group design. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan hasil analisis penelitian diketahui bahwa penerapan Learning Cycle 5E dengan praktikum riil dan praktikum virtual berpengaruh pada kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Pengaruh tersebut diketahui dari hasil analisis uji independent t-test adanya perbedaan signifikan kemampuan berpikir kritis kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik setelah diberikan perlakuan yaitu 18 peserta didik memperoleh hasil pada kriteria sangat tinggi dan 16 peserta didik pada kriteria tinggi. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Learning Cycle 5E berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada sub bab Getaran dan Gelombang.

Abstract

Pendidikan lingkungan melalui pembelajaran IPA dan program Adiwiyata berperan dalam membentuk sikap peduli lingkungan peserta didik serta meningkatkan kesadaran menjaga kelestarian lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan sikap peduli lingkungan antara peserta didik di sekolah Adiwiyata dan non-Adiwiyata di Kota Semarang. Populasi riset berikut adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VIII SMP/MTs, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling berdasarkan kriteria tertentu. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari peserta didik di SMP Negeri 3 Semarang dan SMP Negeri 13 Semarang sebagai sekolah Adiwiyata, serta MTs Negeri 1 Kota Semarang dan MTs Negeri 2 Kota Semarang sebagai sekolah non-Adiwiyata. Riset berikut menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan menggunakan desain deskriptif komparatif. Data diperoleh melalui angket berskala Likert yang sudah melewati uji validitas dan reliabilitas, lalu dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif serta uji Independent Sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara deskriptif rata-rata kedua kelompok tidak berbeda jauh, namun sekolah Adiwiyata memiliki nilai sedikit lebih tinggi. Secara inferensial, terdapat perbedaan signifikan (Sig. 0,019 < 0,05). Kesimpulannya program Adiwiyata berkontribusi positif dalam meningkatkan sikap peduli lingkungan peserta didik.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the difference and level of problem solving ability of students between before and after applying learning with PjBL-STEM on disaster mitigation sub-materials. This research is an experimental research with one group pretest-posttest research design. The data collection methods used are test and documentation methods. The instruments used include pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results obtained are the application of PjBL-STEM on disaster mitigation sub-materials can improve students' problem solving skills. This is indicated by the results of the t-Test which shows the difference in results between before and after the application of PjBL-STEM, as well as the results of the N-Gain test of 0.57 with a moderate category. The level of students' problem solving abilities after implementing PjBL-STEM as a whole is in good criteria. The highest level of students' problem solving abilities is in the indicator of understanding the problem, while the lowest level is in the indicator of devising a plan.

Abstract

Practical work is an important part of learning science. It is a hands-on activity that helps students to understand concepts by observing the phenomena presented. On average, science teachers in MGMP IPA Kota Semarang conduct practical learning in the laboratory 3-4 times per semester. However, the practical work carried out so far has been limited to cooking book experiments or activities with a low level of inquiry. Consequently, aspects such as planning and conducting investigations, which are key components of science process skills, have not been developed. It is necessary to implement training in high-level inquiry in science practicums (i.e., high-level inquiry-based science laboratory) with an orientation towards science process skills. The purpose of the training is to support the development of science teachers' pedagogical competence in designing junior high school science practicum activities that emphasize process skills. This program was implemented using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach at MGMP IPA Kota Semarang. The implementation of a high-level inquiry-based science laboratory (HisLab) to strengthen science teachers' laboratory skills was very well received. Two groups conducted open-inquiry labs, while the other two conducted guided-inquiry labs. Teachers are regarded as successful in applying the two types of inquiry labs categorized as HisLab.

Abstract

Problem solving skills need to be developed so that students can compete with the rapid advances in technology and science.The purpose of this study was to find the improvement and response of students after the application of the STEM-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on Ecology and Biodiversity material on students' problem solving skills. The research method used is quantitative with quasi experiment. The research subjects were students of class VII G as the experimental class and class VII H as the control class. The results of the study were STEM-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) on ecology and biodiversity material proved effective in improving students' problem solving skills, based on the results of the Mann-Whitney test which showed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. The conclusion in this study is that the STEM-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) model effectively improves problem solving skills in ecology and biodiversity materials. Problem solving skills need to be developed so that students can compete with the rapid advances in technology and science.
