Abstract

Run optimally. The calculation of the need for health workers is usually based on several things, such as the type of disease that is widely encountered in the community, the number and burden of services that must be handled, the availability of health facilities, and certain ratios or standards that have been set. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of reinforcement, competence and workload on the performance of health workers at the Karang Rejo Health Center, Tarakan City. The design of this study is an observational quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The total population was 146 respondents while the sample of 107 respondents was taken using the Simple Random Sampling technique. Based on the results of the Ordinal Regression analysis, it is known that the variables of reinforcement, competence, and workload partially have a significant influence on the performance of health workers at the Karang Rejo Health Center, Tarakan City, which is shown by the p-value of 0.016 for reinforcement, 0.007 for competence, and 0.016 for workload (p < 0.05), so that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. These findings show that the better the implementation of reinforcement provided by the leadership, the higher the level of competence that health workers have, and the more appropriate the workload management, the performance of health workers tends to increase. Thus, the performance of health workers is not only influenced by individual factors such as competence, but also by organizational factors in the form of reinforcement and workload, which together play an important role in supporting the improvement of the quality of health services at the Karang Rejo Health Center, Tarakan City.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS remains a serious problem in Indonesia, with cases increasing year after year. People living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) are potentially exposed to high levels of stress, so they must have family support and effective coping mechanisms. This study aims to determine the effect of family support on coping mechanisms among PLHIV at the Pesantren I Community Health Center in Kediri City. This study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. A simple random sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of 200 respondents. The study consisted of two variables the independent variable of family support and the dependent variable of coping mechanisms of PLHIV. The research instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. The statistical test used was Spearman's Rho to determine the influence between variables. The study found that 94 respondents (47%) had high levels of family support and 129 respondents (65%) had good coping mechanisms. The analysis showed no significant effect between family support and coping mechanisms of PLHIV at the Pesantren I Community Health Center in Kediri City, with a p-value of 0.481 > 0.05. Coping mechanisms can be influenced by various factors, not just family support. Further research is needed to demonstrate this using the same subjects but different variables, so that new findings can be obtained.

Abstract

Patriarchal culture shapes gender roles in childcare, often restricting fathers’ involvement and placing the main caregiving responsibility on mothers. Such conditions may contribute to child health problems, particularly stunting, which remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, especially in East Nusa Tenggara. This study aimed to explore husbands’ behaviour in caring for children with stunting from the perspective of patriarchal culture in Tarus Village, Kupang Regency. A qualitative exploratory research with an ethnographic approach was conducted through in-depth semi-structured interviews involving eight participants (four husbands and four wives) who met the inclusion criteria. Data were analysed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The analysis generated five major themes: (1) dominance of patriarchal culture, (2) limited involvement of husbands, (3) gender-based affection and stimulation, (4) emotional challenges in managing stunting, and (5) hope and resilience. These findings demonstrate how patriarchal norms restrict the father’s role and reinforce the mother’s primary responsibility in childcare. Patriarchal values significantly influence childcare practices, resulting in minimal paternal involvement in preventing stunting. To address this, gender-sensitive interventions are required, including father-focused training, public awareness campaigns, and family-supportive policies to strengthen paternal roles and reduce stunting prevalence.

Abstract

Introduction: Anemia among adolescent girls continues to be a significant public health concern with long-term consequences for reproductive health, productivity, and human resource quality. Poor dietary quality, skipping breakfast, low physical activity, and poor adherence to iron tablet supplementation are key contributing factors. Objective: The Aksi Bergizi Program was developed as a promotive and preventive strategy to improve adolescents’ nutritional behaviors through school- and boarding school-based interventions. Methods: This community service activity applied an educational and participatory approach in a boarding school setting, involving 150 adolescent girls at Boarding School Kediri Regency. The program was implemented from June to July 2025 through an integrated Aksi Bergizi package consisting of nutrition and anemia education, group physical activity, communal breakfast, and collective iron tablet (TTD) consumption. Program evaluation was conducted through observation and descriptive assessment of anemia prevention behaviors. Results: The findings showed that 56% of participants demonstrated positive anemia prevention behaviors. The implementation of group physical activity was categorized as good in 83.3% of participants, communal breakfast in 70%, collective iron tablet consumption in 87.3%, and nutrition and anemia education in 67.3%. Collective iron tablet consumption was the component with the highest level of participation. Conclusion: The Aksi Bergizi Program was effective in improving anemia prevention behaviors among adolescent girls in an Islamic boarding school setting. A collaborative and collective behavior-building approach supports program sustainability and highlights the potential of Aksi Bergizi as a community-based strategy to improve adolescent nutritional status and prevent anemia.
