Abstract

Isu lingkungan yang terjadi disebabkan oleh salah satu faktor minimnya kesadaran dan pengetahun masyarakat terkait pengelolaan limbah rumah tangga. Dampak lingkungan yang tercemar dapat berpengaruh terhadap kondisi kesehatan, sosial dan ekonomi masyarakat. Pengelolaan limbah di kabupaten Halmahera Barat masih berupa pengelolaan open dumping. Pengelolaan limbah menggunakan sistem ini dapat mencemari lingkungan. Oleh karena itu perlu adanya upaya untuk mencegah dampak limbah terhadap lingkungan sebelum menyebabkan dampak yang lebih buruk. Salah satu upaya yang bisa dilakukan adalah membuat komposter dengan memanfaatkan pengurai berupa BSF (Black Soldier Fly) atau biasa dikenal dengan sebutan maggot. Perlu diadakan kegiatan pelatihan agar masyarakat mampu membuat komposter secara mandiri. Sehingga tujuan dari pelatihan ini yaitu tercipta masyarakat yang mandiri dan terampil dalam pemilahan limbah rumah tangga sesuai jenisnya dan dapat membuat komposter sederhana dari bahan limbah.

Abstract

Land use patterns are strongly influenced by human requirements; among the most important problems is deforestation. Particularly with deforestation, central Halmahera Regency has seen significant changes in land usage. We use Qgis software and remote sensing data, to seeks and identify the rate of deforestation in Central Halmahera Regency. from Global Forest Change, that satellite pictures data. According to this studies, Weda and Maba were the most impacted areas in Central Halmahera experiencing the worst deforestation between 2014 and 2017. The conversion of forest land into nickel mining sites caused notable destruction in several places. With an average annual loss of 1,435.43 hectares between 2001 and 2013, data showing varying rates of deforestation between 2001 and 2022 shows Rising during 2014 and 2015, the pace of deforestation peaked at 8,852.506 hectares but started to fall in 2016 and 2017.

Abstract

The use of Clove and Lemongrass NTFPs as essential oils by the Manyeku Book Forest Farmers Group on Hiri Island opens up business opportunities to increase farmers' income. The activity time is May 2024. Community Service Activities (PKM) are carried out in the Socialization and Essential Oil Refining Demonstration Stage. Community service activities can provide information to the community, especially farmer groups, to cultivate non-timber forest products as a source of livelihood. Activities carried out in the form of outreach and training have increased the insight and skills of farmer groups regarding raw materials and factors that influence the quality of essential oils in the production process to give information material in developing farming businesses. Abstract

North Maluku is an archipelagic province located in eastern Indonesia. However, the majority of its population lives on small islands surrounding the island of Halmahera. One of the small islands with a significant population concentration is Hiri Island. Similar to the communities on Ternate Island and other small islands in North Maluku Province, the people here also engage in land conversion activities, transforming forest land into agricultural land as one form of adaptation. This community service activity was carried out using a collaborative and participatory approach, involving various stakeholders such as academics from Unkhair, KUPS Bukumanyeku, KPH Ternate Tidore, and BPDAS Akemalamo. The stages carried out were socialization, training, and evaluation of activities. The ecotourism socialization activity went well. Through the FGD (Focus Group Discussion) model, Hiri Island has ecotourism destinations such as beaches, mountains, and culture. Additionally, the island also faces challenges for further development, including the Ternate port, accommodations, and transportation. The presence of the KUPS Bukumanyeku organization is a significant asset for optimizing ecotourism on the island. Therefore, to address these challenges, collaboration among relevant stakeholders, particularly the Ternate City Government and the North Maluku Provincial Government, is required.

Abstract

Indonesia has a high level of plant species diversity and can be utilized by the community. The utilization of these plants has not been widely used by the community in North Maluku, therefore it is important to socialize activities to the community in order to increase public knowledge about multipurpose plants. The service activity was carried out in May 2024. The service participants were community members from Bangko Hamlet, Dodinga Village, West Halmahera Regency. Service activities are carried out by presenting material and providing plant seeds to the community. There are seven types of multipurpose plants socialized, namely ginger (Zingiber officinale), turmeric (Curcuma domestica), lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus), galangal (Alpinia galanga), galangal (Kaempferia galanga), celery (Apium graveolens), and blustru (Luffa cylindrica). To determine the level of community knowledge about multipurpose plants, pre-test and post-test activities were carried out. The results of the community service activities are that the community recognizes and can plant multipurpose plants in the yard and yard, and can utilize them sustainably.

Abstract

Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) are biological forest products, both vegetable and animal and their derivatives originating from forests except wood. NTFPs have an important role for the community because they can increase household income, can improve the local economy, while still preserving forests. One of the NTFPs that people often use is medicinal plants. Community service activities are carried out by providing outreach to the community regarding the use of medicinal plants that can be used in daily life according to disease indications. The series of community service activities carried out are the delivery of Forestry Study Program activities, the delivery of material related to the use of medicinal plants, and the delivery of forestry books which can increase public information regarding the use of forests and forest products.

Abstract

Ternate City is a multi-island municipality characterized by diverse topographic and ecological conditions, exposing it to significant risks of surface runoff, inundation, and flash floods, consequences of its steep volcanic terrain and rapid land cover change. Flood regulation ecosystem services play a critical role in soil and water conservation and sustainable spatial planning. This study assessed the performance of flood regulation ecosystem services based on slope gradient (landform) and land cover across Ternate City using secondary spatial data from the 2022 Environmental Carrying and Assimilation Capacity Document (D3TLH), computed via the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method with a 1" × 1" grid system (approximately 30 m²). Results indicate that flood regulation service performance is dominated by the medium class (41.99%), followed by the high-to-very high class (32.78%), and the low-to-very low class (25.23%). Batang Dua and Ternate Barat sub-districts exhibit the highest ecosystem service performance, with high-to-very high coverage accounting for 13.66% and 6.58% of total area, respectively. Dry Land Forest is the primary contributor to the very high class (27.82%), while plantation land cover dominates the medium class (40.90%). The Mid Volcanic Slope (11.37%) and Tectonic Hills (7.97%) landform units are the largest contributors to the very high class. These findings highlight the urgency of prioritizing soil and water conservation efforts in forested volcanic slopes and tectonic hill areas to sustain long-term flood mitigation capacity.
