Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the forms and strategies of politeness used by KMP UNM students in daily conversations at the secretariat. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, recording, and note-taking of interactions between students. Analysis was conducted with reference to Brown and Levinson's politeness theory and Leech's politeness principles. The results show that students use positive politeness strategies in interactions with peers, while negative politeness strategies appear in conversations with seniors or organizational administrators. In addition, off-record strategies are used in situations that require caution. These findings indicate that students' politeness is influenced by social relations, conversational situations, and the familial culture of regional communities. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bentuk dan strategi kesantunan berbahasa yang digunakan mahasiswa KMP UNM dalam percakapan sehari-hari di sekretariat. Menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, perekaman, dan pencatatan terhadap interaksi antar mahasiswa. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengacu pada teori kesantunan Brown dan Levinson serta prinsip kesantunan Leech. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa menggunakan strategi kesantunan positif dalam interaksi dengan teman sebaya, sedangkan strategi kesantunan negatif muncul dalam percakapan dengan senior atau pengurus organisasi. Selain itu, strategi off record digunakan pada situasi yang memerlukan kehati-hatian. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kesantunan berbahasa mahasiswa dipengaruhi relasi sosial, situasi percakapan, dan budaya kekeluargaan Organisasi kedaerahan. Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Edpuzzle media in improving fantasy story listening skills in seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 22 Makassar. Using a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design, the study involved 40 students divided into an experimental class (using Edpuzzle) and a control class (using YouTube). The results of the independent sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.007 < 0.05, proving a significant difference between the two groups. The posttest average for the experimental class (90.15) was higher than that of the control class (88.15). These findings confirm that Edpuzzle, with its interactive features such as integrated questions and anti-skip, effectively increases students' cognitive engagement and comprehension of oral literary texts. This research provides a practical contribution to the development of digital learning media in Indonesian language education.
