Abstract

Abstract

Chikungunya is a disease caused by a virus transmitted through the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. Vector control is a strategic step in preventing the spread of this disease. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a simple mosquito trap made from used plastic bottles with a brown sugar and yeast solution in Dusun Suruh, Kopen Village, Teras District, Boyolali Regency, Central Java Province. The research method included the construction and placement of traps in several strategic locations and the observation of the number of mosquitoes captured over a specific period. The results showed that this trap was effective in attracting and capturing mosquitoes, with effectiveness influenced by environmental factors and the composition of the solution. Mosquito traps made from use plastic bottles with a brown sugar and yeast solution can serve as an affordable, eco-friendly, and easily applicable alternative for community-based vector control against chikungunya

Abstract

The community service carried out in Dusun Karangasem, Desa Kopen, Kecamatan Teras, Kabupaten Boyolali, Central Java, aimed to empower local farmers and producers of rambak crackers by transforming the waste from garlic peel, which is produced during the rambak cracker production, into an environmentally friendly natural pesticide. This activity was carried out through a series of events, starting with socialization on the importance of using natural materials in pest control, followed by a demonstration of how to make botanical pesticides, and practical training on applying the pesticide to local agricultural land. Through this activity, 85% of the participants were able to independently produce the pesticide using locally available materials. In addition, 75% of the participants reported a significant decrease in pest attacks on their plants after using the natural pesticide. This program not only successfully addressed pest problems but also raise community awareness about the importance of waste management and the application of sustainable, environmentally friendly farming practices. The success of this program also had a positive impact in terms of improving participants' skills and knowledge regarding more efficient and environmentally friendly agricultural management. Additionally, the active involvement of the community in the process of making and applying the natural pesticide demonstrated that this activity could inspire them to be more independent in addressing the challenges they face, especially in pest control without relying on chemical substances. This program is expected to serve as a model that can be applied in other areas to improve farmers' welfare, reduce dependence on chemical pesticides, and promote the concept of sustainable agriculture. Furthermore, the success of using a natural pesticide made from garlic peel waste opens up opportunities for further research to explore the potential of other natural materials in addressing various agricultural challenges in the future

Abstract

Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) has been used over decades due to its excellent dielectric, arc quenching and heat transfer properties, but has tremendous global warming potential. It is therefore mandatory to find more environmentally friendly alternatives by designing of future eco-friendly hybrid insulation (solid and gas) system that require a thorough understanding of the evolution of electric field in such structure. A numerical model was developed using finite element method (FEM) of a commercial software Comsol® Multiphysics. Using electrostatic equations, the 2D model stability, 2D boundary model and  voltages are varied in order to identify their influence on the electric field distribution. Numerical simulations show that maximum electric fields will vary significantly according to distances of point-dielectric (gap). The maximum electric field increases if the gap (electrode tip-planar) size is shorter. Additionally, the electric field is not linearly spread in solid dielectric material and more concentrated around the edges of solid dielectric.

Abstract

This research presents the design and development of a mathematical model for a vehicle steering system guided by the Antilock Braking System (ABS) with integrated automatic control. The purpose of this study is to enhance vehicle stability and steering performance, particularly under critical braking conditions where loss of traction and directional control commonly occur. The proposed model integrates ABS dynamics with an automatic steering control algorithm to simulate real-time responses of the vehicle under various road and driving scenarios. The mathematical formulation is based on vehicle kinematics and dynamics, incorporating nonlinear tire characteristics, braking force distribution, and steering angle adjustments. A control system utilizing PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) component is embedded into the model to optimize the coordination between braking and steering operations. Simulation results using MATLAB show that the integrated system significantly improves steering accuracy, reduces stopping distance, and maintains vehicle stability during sudden braking and turning maneuvers. The findings suggest that combining ABS with intelligent steering control contributes to safer driving, especially on slippery or uneven surfaces. This research serves as a foundational step toward the development of more advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and contributes to the ongoing efforts in automotive safety engineering.

Abstract

The company's profitability will reflect the company's financial performance. Good financial performance can increase the value of the company, which will be reflected in the market price of its shares and increase the prosperity of shareholders (stakeholders). Profitability is also a factor that makes management free and flexible in disclosing corporate social responsibility to shareholders. Thus, the higher the level of company profitability, the greater the disclosure of information. So, this study intends to see how profitability affects firm value and whether corporate social responsibility and good corporate governance effectively moderate profitability's effect on manufacturing companies’ value in the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII). Therefore, this study is important and serves as material for investors and potential investors to consider and reference in selecting companies. Various theories support this study, as the grand theory is the agency theory and the signaling theory. The middle theory of this research is contract theory, and the applied theory is firm value theory. This theory is to measure the company's selling value or growth value for shareholders, the company's value, which will be reflected in the market price of its shares. This research was conducted using a quantitative method, which will be carried out in 2021 at a manufacturing company registered on the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII). The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with twenty-four companies listed on the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII). Considering that the model in this study is a causality model for several manufacturing companies, to test the hypothesis, cross-sectional data is used with the structural equation modeling (SEM) approach using the partial least squares program (PLS 4.0). The results of the profitability direct effect test do not directly affect firm value; the direct effect test results of CSR moderation do not directly affect firm value; and so do the GCG direct effect test results, which do not affect firm value.
