Abstract

This study aims to analyze the song “Bayar Bayar Bayar” using the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach based on Teun A. van Dijk’s model. The song was selected due to its explicit criticism of corruption and abuse of power within the Indonesian police institution. The analysis covers three main dimensions in Van Dijk’s theory: discourse structure (macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure), social cognition, and social context. The analysis reveals that thematically, the song represents the collective experience of society in facing bureaucratic injustice, particularly in the form of illegal levies by the authorities. Its repetitive and straightforward superstructure strengthens the main message. At the microstructural level, the use of direct language, punk-styled stylistics, and the rhetorical repetition of “bayar polisi” (pay the police) create a provocative effect and reinforce the social critique being delivered. In terms of social cognition, the song reflects the public's mental model of the police as an institution that perpetuates social inequality rather than acting as a neutral protector. From a social context perspective, the song emerges from the reality of unequal power relations between citizens and authorities, serving as a symbolic form of resistance against hegemonic power structures. “Bayar Bayar Bayar” is thus not only a musical work but also an ideological expression with critical discourse value in advocating for social justice.

Abstract

This article discusses the social phenomenon related to using Siger Lampung as one of the cultural attributes typical of the Lampung region. Currently, the use of Siger Lampung is increasingly varied, ranging from clothing, decoration, and public facilities to commercial places. Siger, which is currently more often used in the context of architecture and design, requires adjustments that some traditional and cultural figures may not approve of. This adjustment also requires a careful approach to ensure that the essence of its culture is not lost and can continue to survive. Given these obstacles and challenges, the community and government need to work together on the importance of maintaining Siger as an integral part of Lampung culture. Through support through education, promotion, and cultural initiatives, Siger can remain a symbol of recognition in this modern era. This study aims to analyze the role of Siger Lampung in preserving traditions and cultural adaptation in a multi-ethnic society. By understanding the dynamics of Siger use, this cultural symbol is expected to function as a uniform tool and collective identity in various communities.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah kegiatan lanjutan dari pengabdian sebelumnya oleh tim yang sama. Kegiatan lanjutan diperlukan untuk mandampingi para lansia di UPTD Tresna Werdha Natar Lampung Selatan. Hal ini dilakukan agar para lansia dapat memanfaatkan dan memelihara taman yang telah direhab sebelumnya oleh tim pengabdian ini.Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dalam bentuk pendampingan ini, berjalan selama 5 bulan sejak serah terima taman dilakukan. Pendampingan dilakukan secara berkala, dalam bentuk mendampingi dan terjun berpartisipasi di lapangan. Memelihara taman bersama, member makan ikan dan beberapa hewan piaraan, memetik herbal bersama dan memelihara tanaman TOGA secara bersama-sama dengan para lansia di UPTD Tresna Werdha Natar Lampung Selatan.Kegiatan ini telah bermanfaat meningkatkan tanggung jawab para lansia dalam turut berpartisipasi memelihara dan memanfaatkan fasilitas di dalam panti dengan senang hati. Pendampingan juga meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemanfaatan tanaman herbal/ TOGA untuk mengatasi gangguan kesehatan para lansia. Kegiatan pengabdian ini juga meningkatkan fungsi komunikasi rekreatif lansia, ketika mereka bermain, memelihara taman beserta hewan piaraan serta berjemur atau bermain di taman ini. Taman telah dimanfaatkan sebagai sarana komunikasi yang membahagiakan karena kebersamaan menyalurkan hobi berkebun dan memelihara ternak (ayam, burung, kelinci dan berbagai jenis ikan) dengan senang hati.
