Abstract

Buya Sangkot Lubis memilih cara mengembangkan ajaran agama Islam dengan cara mendirikan suatu lembaga Pendidikan pondok pesantren yang bernama Bahrul Ulum yang berada di kampung padang Alai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Bagaimana latar belakang, Kiprah dan cara buya Sangkot Lubis dalam menyebarkan ajaran Islam di Padang Alai. Untuk membahas masalah ini penulis menggunakan penelitian lapangan (field research) dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif, dalam penelitian ini penulis memperoleh sumber data dari keluarga Buya Sangkot Lubis, Alumni Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum dan Tokoh Masyarakat Padang Alai untuk memperkuat hasil wawancara penulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan melalui pondok pesantren bahrul ulum yang didirikannya, banyak kegiatan agama yang dapat dilaksanakan seperti: pengajian Yasinan kaum ibu, Memperingati Hari-Hari Besar Islam, Maulid Nabi, Isra’mi’raj dan Nuzul Qur’an. Berbuka Bersama Anak Yatim dan Fakir Miskin Pada Bulan Suci Ramadhan dan Menyebarkan Tarekat Syattariyah sebagai ajaran pokok Buya Sangkot Lubis dalam Menyebarkan Agama Islam di Padang Alai

Abstract

Haji Abdul Latif was an important figure in Islamic reform in the 20th century. In the matter of education, he views that education is the right of every human being according to the needs of human development itself without differentiation of gender and knowledge. This article aims to explain the thoughts of Haji Abdul Latif Syakur in the field of education. The primary data of this research is a manuscript by Haji Abdul Latif Syakur. The manuscript is read with historical and sociological approaches. The results of data analysis show that Haji Abdul Latif Syakur was the first ulama to reform education by modernizing the learning system and curriculum, namely in 1906, three years before Islamic modernists. In addition, since he first taught Islam in 1904, he has taught and involved women in the learning process.

Abstract

Babuai dance is one of the traditional Minangkabau dances that developed at the Singo Barantai Padang Traditional Arts School. This dance is one of the unique traditional dances. Because the movements of this dance depict agility, softness, firmness and sharpness. In every movement is full of accents (movement jerks) besides that there is also acceleration and deceleration. This dance is used for body exercise for a silat athlete before they carry out silat training. The object of this research uses Dance as its formal object, "Babuai Dance" as its material object. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach. This research was conducted at a silat school, namely the Singo Barantai Padang City Traditional Arts School, which is located in Lubuk Leetah, Kuranji District, Padang. Singo Barantai Traditional Arts College is one of the non-formal educational institutions engaged in the field of arts and culture, where the activities or materials taught at this College include traditional martial arts with the SilekPauh flow, randai, traditional dance, traditional Minangkabau music, and traditional pasambahan speeches. This journal examines the tradition of challenging change in the study of dance aesthetics. Babuai dance is viewed using aesthetic studies with the aim of revealing and exploring in depth everything related to the beauty of the Babuai Dance and changes in the development of the babuai dance at the Singo Barantai Traditional Arts College. In this study, the author was actively involved in the Singo Barantai Traditional Arts College, namely as a participant observer, which means that the author directly enters and is involved in the membership of the Singo Barantai College
