Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the influence of work motivation, competence, and affective commitment on the performance of civil servants at the Indonesian Army's Center for Artillery Forces (PUSSENARMED) in Cimahi. Research Methodology: This research employs multiple linear regression analysis to examine the relationships among these variables. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 33 civil servant respondents at PUSSENARMED. Results: The findings indicate that work motivation has a significant positive influence on PNS performance; the higher the motivation, the better their performance. Competence shows a relatively low negative influence on performance, while affective commitment has a significant positive influence. Simultaneously, all three independent variables provide a significant influence on PNS performance, explaining about 51.4% of the variation in performance Limitations: This study is limited to one institution, namely PUSSENARMED in Cimahi, so the results may not be generalizable to other institutions. Contribution: These findings can be utilized to enhance human resource management in the public sector, particularly within the military context, with a focus on improving work motivation and employee affective commitment.

Abstract

Zakat is the main instrument in the Islamic economic system which plays an important role in the equitable distribution of social welfare. However, the level of public compliance in paying zakat is still a challenge, especially in the aspects of awareness and ease of access. This study aims to analyze strategies to increase public compliance in paying zakat through digitalization, by highlighting the factors that affect the use of zakat digital platforms. The research method used is a quantitative and qualitative approach through surveys to muzakki (zakat payers) and interviews with managers of zakat institutions and Islamic economic experts. The results of the study show that zakat digitization has a significant role in increasing community compliance, especially through ease of transactions, transparency of fund management, and increasing zakat literacy. The main factors that affect include trust in digital platforms, ease of use of applications, and education about zakat obligations. Therefore, more innovative strategies are needed, such as collaboration between the government, zakat institutions, and sharia fintech providers in increasing public accessibility and trust in the digital zakat system. The implications of this study are expected to provide recommendations for policy makers in optimizing the role of digitalization to increase zakat compliance to support the welfare of the people.

Abstract

This study examines the role of management control system (MCS) design as a determinant of successful strategy implementation in firms. Strategy execution failures are commonly attributed to weaknesses in strategy formulation, yet contemporary literature indicates that the primary cause lies in poorly designed control systems that fail to translate strategy into measurable, monitored, and adaptable operational actions. Using a narrative literature review method that synthesizes classical control theories with contemporary empirical studies published between 2020 and 2025, this article examines how management control system design functions as a determinant of strategy implementation success. The review identifies four interrelated dimensions of MCS design that determine implementation success: strategic alignment, performance-risk integration, the balance between formal and informal controls, and the system's adaptive capacity to environmental change. Imbalance in any of these dimensions can create misalignment that gradually leads to implementation failure, even when the underlying strategy is conceptually sound. This article proposes a conceptual model of MCS design as a determinant of strategy implementation success that can serve as a basis for further empirical testing as well as a diagnostic framework for practitioners.
