Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of population size, Human Development Index (HDI), and Open Unemployment Rate (OUR) on poverty levels in regencies/cities of Special Region of Yogyakarta during 2018-2023 period. The research employed quantitative design with panel data regression analysis approach across five regencies/cities in DIY. Secondary data were obtained from official publications of Statistics Indonesia Yogyakarta Province and analyzed using Fixed Effect Model and Random Effect Model with Stata 17 software. The research findings indicate that HDI has negative and significant effect on poverty level, suggesting that improvement in human resource quality effectively reduces poverty. OUR proved to have positive and significant effect on poverty, confirming that increased unemployment raises poverty levels. Conversely, population size shows no significant influence on poverty in DIY. These findings provide strategic implications for local government to prioritize investment in education and health sectors as well as job creation programs in poverty alleviation efforts. High inter-regional heterogeneity indicates the necessity for policy approaches tailored to specific characteristics of each regency/city in DIY.

Abstract

This study analyzes the determinants of tourism revenue in six cities across Central Java (2015-2023) using fixed-effects panel regression with robust standard errors. Results indicate that tourist visits significantly boost revenue (β=255,540.34; p=0.002), while GRDP and destination quantity show statistically insignificant effects. Spatial disparities dominate, with 76.6% of variance attributed to city-specific heterogeneity (ρ=0.766). The model explains 65.74% of within-city revenue variation (R²_within=0.6574). Policy recommendations prioritize digital promotion, infrastructure equity, and GRDP-tourism synergy. Findings challenge conventional assumptions about short-term macroeconomic impacts on regional tourism.

The implementation methods include socialization, technical training on creating and managing business profiles on Google Maps, direct mentoring, and evaluation of platform utilization. The activity was attended by 30 SME operators with diverse business backgrounds. The results showed an increase in participants' skills in creating business profiles, uploading product photos, updating information, and responding to customer reviews. Post-activity evaluations showed an increase in the online reach of business information, as indicated by an increase in the number of searches and visits to business locations. In conclusion, digital navigation literacy based on Google Maps can be an effective strategy to support promotion and expand the market for SMEs in rural areas.
