Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the use of slang in digital communication by TikTok Gen Z content creator, Nathalie Tresya. Slang as a form of language variation reflects social dynamics, generational identity, and popular culture trends that develop in the digital space. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a non-participatory observation method. Data were collected from a number of TikTok videos uploaded by Nathalie Tresya, focusing on verbal and textual speech containing slang elements. Analysis was conducted to identify the form, function, and context of slang use in the content studied. The results of the study show that Nathalie Tresya uses various forms of slang such as abbreviations, puns, foreign loanwords, and code mixing between Indonesian and English. This language is used as a communication strategy to build closeness with the audience, display identity as part of Gen Z, and increase the appeal of content on the TikTok platform. These findings confirm that social media, especially TikTok, is a medium that actively encourages the birth of new language forms that are worthy of being studied in the context of digital sociolinguistics.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application and deviation of conversational maxims in Grice's cooperative theory in the podcast "Sule and Rizwan". This podcast was chosen because it presents interactions full of humor, spontaneity, and communication dynamics that are interesting to study pragmatically. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with listening and note-taking techniques as data collection instruments. Data in the form of utterances containing maxims of quantity, quality, relevance, and method are analyzed based on Grice's cooperative principle. The results of the study show that the speakers in this podcast consciously or unconsciously apply the four Grice maxims, but also often deviate from them for the purpose of humor, satire, or dramatic effect. These deviations do not interfere with communication, but rather enrich the meaning and strengthen the appeal of the conversation. These findings indicate that violation of maxims in the context of entertainment is not a form of communication failure, but rather an effective pragmatic strategy.

Abstract

Lirik lagu merupakan bentuk ekspresi sastra yang sarat makna dan dapat dianalisis secara semantik untuk mengungkap nilai-nilai emosional serta budaya yang terkandung di dalamnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji makna denotatif dan konotatif pada lirik lagu “Bergema Sampai Selamanya” karya Nadhif Basalamah dengan pendekatan semiotik Roland Barthes. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, dengan data utama berupa lirik lagu yang dianalisis berdasarkan teori dua lapis makna: denotatif sebagai makna literal dan konotatif sebagai makna kultural yang dibentuk oleh konteks sosial. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui dokumentasi dan telaah literatur, sedangkan analisis dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi representasi makna pada setiap bait lagu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lirik lagu ini menggambarkan pengalaman kebersamaan, keintiman emosional, serta kesadaran akan kefanaan secara denotatif, dan pada saat yang sama menyiratkan makna konotatif berupa relasi yang tulus, sederhana, serta penuh refleksi terhadap waktu dan kehidupan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa lirik lagu tidak hanya bersifat estetis, tetapi juga menjadi medium representasi budaya dan sosial yang menggambarkan relasi emosional dalam masyarakat kontemporer.
