Abstract

ABSTRAK: Dalam konteks pengajaran dan pembelajaran di lingkungan akademis, novel Habibie & Ainun menawarkan peluang yang substansial untuk menganalisis kompleksitas hubungan personal, sejarah, dan konteks sosial-politik yang memengaruhi kehidupan kedua tokoh utama. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi respons serta tanggapan mahasiswa terhadap novel "Habibie & Ainun" sebagai bagian integral dari pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa serta sastra Indonesia di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan mixed method desain eksplanatori yang mengintegrasikan elemen kuantitatif dan kualitatif, bertujuan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif mengenai respons mahasiswa. Mayoritas responden memiliki ekspektasi sebelum membaca novel Habibie & Ainun dan merasa terhubung dengan karakter utama, menunjukkan pengaruh penggambaran tokoh. Latar dan konteks waktu dalam novel mempengaruhi pemahaman mahasiswa, sementara pemahaman bahasa memfasilitasi keterlibatan mereka. Alasan penerimaan mahasiswa membaca novel ini adalah dampak emosional, daya tarik pesan inspiratif, dan relevansi sejarah, sementara horizon pembaca mencakup dedikasi, pandangan hidup, dan pengaruh positif. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam pengembangan pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia dengan mengungkap cara mahasiswa merespons dan mengaitkan karya sastra dengan realitas sejarah dan sosial, memberikan wawasan tentang efektivitas pengajaran sastra dalam membentuk pemahaman budaya dan sejarah, serta menawarkan pandangan tentang peningkatan pendekatan tersebut sesuai dengan kebutuhan mahasiswa di era kontemporer.KATA KUNCI: Mahasiswa; Novel Habibie & Ainun; Pengajaran Sastra; Resepsi Sastra; Respons Pembaca> RECEPTION OF INDONESIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE STUDENTS MAKASSAR STATE UNIVERSITY TOWARDS THE NOVEL HABIBIE & AINUN ABSTRACT: In the context of teaching and learning in an academic environment, the novel Habibie & Ainun offers substantial opportunities to analyze the complexity of personal relationships, history, and socio-political contexts that influence the lives of the two main characters. This research aims to evaluate students' responses to the novel "Habibie & Ainun" as an integral part of teaching and learning the Indonesian language and literature in a university environment. The method used in this research is a mixed-method approach to explanatory design, which integrates quantitative and qualitative elements, aiming to gain a more comprehensive understanding of student responses. The majority of respondents had expectations before reading the novel Habibie & Ainun and felt connected to the main character, showing the influence of the character's depiction. The setting and time context in the novel influence students' understanding, while understanding the language facilitates their engagement. The reasons for accepting students to read this novel are the emotional impact, the appeal of the inspirational message, and historical relevance. At the same time, the reader's horizon includes dedication, outlook on life, and positive influence. This research makes an essential contribution to the development of higher education in Indonesia by revealing how students respond to and linking literary works with historical and social realities, providing insight into the effectiveness of literature teaching in forming cultural and historical understanding, and offering views on improving this approach according to student needs in the contemporary era.KEYWORDS: Student; Novel Habibie & Ainun; Literature Teaching; Literary Reception; Reader Response.

Abstract

The background of this research is to identify or determine the ability to analyze the character analysis of the characters in the film translation Split by M. Night Shymalayan in Semester VI Students of Indonesian Language Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in the 2022/2023 academic year. The number of samples in this study is 27 people, class B consisted of 24 girls and 6 boys. Data collection was used, namely test sheets and observation sheets. Then, the data analysis used in this study was the Quantitative Description technique, because the data studied were in the form of technical figures for student learning outcomes by identifying or determining the characters in the Split translation film by M. Night Shymalayan by using a certain formula. The results showed that the students' ability to analyze the characters of M. Night Shymalayan's Split translation film character in sixth-semester students of Indonesian language education experienced differences in every aspect that was assessed. The results of data analysis show that the average score obtained or achieved by class B students in the sixth semester of Indonesian language education obtained an average score of 69.26% with a total percentage of 2.57% in the good category. This means that the split translation film media helps students to identify the character analysis skills of M. Night Shymalayan's split translation film characters.
