Abstract

This study aims to recognize and compare the vocabulary used in Serang Javanese and Betawi language in the YouTube Version of Si Doel Movie in Season 1 and 2. The approach used is descriptive qualitative by using contrastive analysis technique. Data were obtained by observing the dialog in the movie, as well as conducting interviews with native speakers of both languages. The findings of this study show that there are vocabularies that have the same form and meaning (10 vocabularies), similar forms but the same meaning (9 vocabularies), and different forms but the same meaning (45 vocabularies). This difference shows the characteristics of each regional language, even though they are geographically located in close proximity. This study emphasizes the importance of maintaining local languages and understanding vocabulary variation in inter-dialect communication.

Abstract

This study examines the lexical meaning and illocutionary acts in the lyrics of Panji Sakti, which are filled with emotion and metaphor. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach and note-taking techniques to analyze each line of the lyrics based on lexical categories such as metaphor, hyponymy, hypernymy, synonymy, ambiguity, and collocation. In addition, the classification of illocutionary acts is carried out based on Searle's theory. The findings show that metaphors dominate, especially the image of the soul as a "flower" which symbolizes vulnerability and the spiritual side. Collocation phrases such as "didera hujan" (rain) and "dihempas angin" (wind) create images of trials, while ambiguity is seen in the expression "dicekam cerita" (stranglehold on story). Hyponymy and hypernymy are found in "bunga frangipani" (fringe flower) and "semesta" (semesta), while synonymy is found in the word "mengingat" (remembering), which has the same meaning as "mengenang" (reminiscent). The illocutionary analysis shows that assertive speech acts, expressive in the context of love, longing, and spiritual devotion dominate, and there are also commissive acts related to the commitment to remember. The combination of lexical and illocutionary analysis shows the speaker's inner journey revealed through rich language and pragmatic functions.

This study aims to explain the various types of taboos and their functions in the lives of the local indigenous community. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method to collect data through various techniques such as interviews, observation, document collection, note-taking, recording, and listening. The findings of this study indicate that taboos in the Jalawastu Traditional Village encompass prohibitions related to infrastructure, animal husbandry, farming, playing musical instruments, dress codes, and entering areas considered sacred. Pamali are not only viewed as inherited traditions but also serve as mechanisms of social control, guidelines for behavior, and efforts to preserve culture and the environment. The community’s adherence to pamali signifies that traditional values and local wisdom are still preserved to this day amidst modern progress.
