Abstract

Introduction: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the joints, which can lead to cartilage damage and disability. Not all standard medications for RA therapy are efficient for all patients and long-term use can cause serious side effects. Therefore, it is necessary to develop drugs for RA involving various approaches, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological. Method: This article review is based on references to several articles from online databases published nationally and internationally. Result: From the article search, there were 10 articles discussing RA drug development from various approaches. Conclusion: Based on the review of articles carried out, there is drug development using a pharmacological approach including the use of natural ingredients such as purslane tea, red betel leaf extract, secang plants and curcumin, nanotechnology-based innovations such as composite hydrogel and MTX nanocarriers, a drug repurposing approach to the discovery of new drugs alpha-linolenic acid and Belatacept as well as non-pharmacological approaches with complementary therapies such as red ginger and warm betel compresses. Abstract

Bahan alam merupakan bahan dari alam baik yang mengalami proses pengolahan ataupun tidak dengan untuk tujuan kesehatan, sumber alam yang digunakan bisa didapatkan dari tumbuhan, hewan, maupun mineral. Berdasarkan survey yang dilakukan oleh WHO diketahui bahwa sebesar 88% bahan alam digunakan sebagai obat. Sedangkan, di Indonesia menurut survey data Riskesdas, bahan alam yang digunakan sebagai obat pada tahun 2018 sebesar 48%. Bahan alam yang digunakan biasanya diolah menjadi produk granul. Review jurnal dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan beberapa sumber data primer yaitu artikel jurnal pada situs resmi PubMed dan Sinta. Formulasi yang banyak digunakan untuk membuat granul yaitu granulasi basah dan granulasi kering yang diformulasikan dengan penambahan bahan eksipien berupa pengisi, pemanis, pengikat, penghancur, pelicin (glidant, lubrikan dan antiadherent). Evaluasi yang dilakukan diantaranya uji kelembaban, organoleptik, laju alir, sudut istirahat, densitas dan kompresibilitas, distribusi ukuran partikel, uji disolusi, uji pH, uji volume tuang, uji volume guncang, uji waktu dispersi, uji kerapuhan, uji porositas, uji waktu larut, uji susut pengeringan granul, indeks kompresibilitas dan rasio Hausner.
