Abstract

Teman Abadi Farmers Group is one of the farmer groups in Jambi City. Some members of the farmer group have a goat farming business with a semi-intensive maintenance system with semi-permanent pen buildings. Members of the farmer group have implemented pen sanitation but still use chemicals that can have other impacts on the health of livestock and farmers. Therefore, a solution was sought by utilizing natural disinfectants that are safe for livestock and humans, namely, eco enzymes. This Community Service Activity (PPM) is a form of knowledge and skills transfer to overcome the problem of implementing pen sanitation based on the use of eco-enzymes. This PPM activity uses the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method, which actively involves the community through focus group discussions (FGD), counseling, mentoring, and the practice of making eco enzymes as natural disinfectants. The evaluation was conducted by distributing questionnaires to determine the perceptions of farmer group members towards the implementation of PPM activities. PPM. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in knowledge of farmer group members about the manufacture and use of eco enzyme as a disinfectant for cage sanitation. It was concluded that members of the Teman Abadi farmer group in Mudung Laut sub-district, Jambi City, already understand and practice using eco enzyme as a disinfectant for cage sanitation.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve partners' knowledge and skills in composting using Starbo-AFE. Partners' problems are limited raw materials for composting and the slowness of the composting process. Therefore, it is necessary to disseminate compost processing technology using Starbo-AFE. This activity is carried out in 5 stages: socialization, training, application of the Starbo-AFE technology, assistance with production equipment, and mentoring and evaluation. The socialization activity began with a discussion with farmer groups, PPL, and village officials to determine the action plan. The training was attended by 30 people, who received technical materials on composting and the use of Starbo-AFE as an activator. The technology is applied using the Starbo-AFE activator in compost production, with rice husks and chicken feces as compost materials. Mentoring and evaluation are carried out by implementing the agreed production process. The assessment results from the questionnaire indicate that partner perceptions were above 4, with a range of 4.23–4.69. This means the community service activity is well-suited to the group's needs. This community service activity concludes that it has gone according to plan, from socialization and training to assistance with production support equipment and the compost production process.

Abstract

Modernization is the process through which societies transform from traditional structures to modern systems, involving economic, political, social, and cultural change. The military, as one of the most organized and disciplined institutions, often serves as a vehicle for modernization by introducing technological innovations, fostering national unity, developing infrastructure, and promoting education and skills. However, military-led modernization faces challenges, including lack of democratic legitimacy, overcentralization of power, inequality, cultural conflicts, and sustainability issues. This research explores the concept and nature of modernization, examines the role of the military in facilitating societal change, and provides a balanced perspective on the limitations and potential of military-driven modernization. The study highlights that while the military can accelerate modernization, sustainable and inclusive development requires cooperation with civilian institutions and democratic governance.
