Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Arabic language learning using modules based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in enhancing the higher-order thinking abilities of fifth-grade students at MIN 2 Palembang. Employing a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, the research began with the collection and analysis of quantitative data through pre-tests and post-tests, followed by qualitative data obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that prior to the implementation of the HOTS-based module, learning was still conventional and teacher-centered, which limited the development of students' critical and creative thinking skills. After the module was implemented, there was a notable increase in the average learning outcomes, from 74.83 to 80.17. Furthermore, interviews with teachers and students confirmed that this approach was more engaging, challenging, and encouraged active cognitive involvement. Therefore, Arabic language learning based on HOTS has proven effective in improving both student achievement and higher-order thinking skills. This research contributes to the development of innovative teaching strategies in madrasahs, particularly in strengthening higher-order thinking literacy within Arabic language education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of the Project-Based Learning(PjBL) method in Arabic language learning at the secondary school level. Thisqualitative research uses a case study approach involving several teachers andstudents who apply PjBL in Arabic language classes. Data were collected throughin-depth interviews with teachers, classroom observations, and analysis ofstudents project documents. The findings of the study indicate that theimplementation of PjBL has a positive impact on improving students speaking, writing, and cultural understanding skills in Arabic. In addition, students becomemore active, creative, and engaged in the learning process. However, thechallenges faced include time and resource limitations, as well as the need forteacher training to effectively implement this method. This study suggests thatPjBL should be more widely applied in Arabic language learning, with moreintensive training support for teachers.

Abstract

This research discusses the implementation of kitabah learning based on the scientific approach with picture media at Islamic Junior High School (MTs) Darussa'adah, Muara Enim. The purpose of the research is to analyze the planning, implementation, evaluation, and challenges in implementing this innovative learning model. The learning process follows five main stages, namely observing, questioning, trying, reasoning, and communicating. Picture media is used as a stimulus to increase students' imagination and vocabulary, thus supporting the development of writing skills. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that this approach was effective in improving students' writing skills, critical thinking, and learning motivation. Evaluation was carried out by assessing aspects of attitude, knowledge and skills through formative and summative methods that also involved self-reflection and feedback from peers. Obstacles faced include limited learning resources, teacher preparation time, and the need for ongoing training. However, collaboration between teachers and adaptation of learning media are solutions to overcome these obstacles. In conclusion, the integration of the scientific approach and picture media is able to enrich Arabic language learning, especially writing skills and can be a reference for other madrasahs in developing more creative and effective learning strategies.
