Abstract

This research aimed to discover the difference in the increase of students' mathematical concepts understanding using Lasswell communication model and conventional model. This was quasi-experimental research. Data were collected through a test of mathematical concepts understanding. The sample of this research was Public High School 4, where class X.1 and class X. 2 as an experiment and control class respectively. Inferential statistics was used to analyze the data. The findings showed that the increase of average of students' mathematical concepts understanding ability of experimental class was 0.733, while in the control class was 0.550. Furthermore, the results of the analysis of the t-test with significance level were 5%, showed that t score>T-table, meaning H0 was rejected. The conclusion was that there was a difference in the increment of students' mathematical concepts understanding using Lasswell Communication model and conventional model. Therefore, increasing the students' ability of mathematical concepts understanding using the Lasswell Communication Model was better than the conventional model.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of use technology-based Pancasila Education learning media can stimulate students in learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity and practicality of the developed media. This type of research is development research (Research and Development) with the ADDIE model. The results of the validity test on Smart Apps Creator media obtained a percentage 96.66% with a very valid category, the results of the material validity test 90.76% with a very valid category, and the results of the media validity test were 96% with a very valid category. While the results of the practicality test in the trial school obtained a percentage of 92.85% with a very practical category for the teacher response questionnaire and 94.46% for the student response questionnaire with a very practical category. The results of the practicality test in the research school 96.42% with a very practical category for the teacher response questionnaire and 93.06% with a very practical category for the student response questionnaire. It can be concluded that the Smart Apps Creator learning media on the material of Pancasila as a way of life in class IV integrated elementary school has been valid and practical.

Abstract

The Effectiveness of Differentiated instruction in Elementary School Subject: Teachers’ Perceptions. Objectives: This study aims to explore teachers’ perceptions of differentiated instruction in the Pancasila Education subject in Elementary Schools and its impacts, benefits, and challenges. Methods: The data collection was conducted by using a survey method by distributing the questionnaires to 801 respondents followed by semi-structured interviews. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by using the quantitative descriptive analysis techniques and Spearman correlation tests to determine the relationship between the implementation of differentiated instruction and the aspects of teachers’ perceptions. Meanwhile, the results of the interviews were analyzed by using a descriptive qualitative approach. The elementary school subject referred to in this study is Pancasila Education. Findings: The results of the study indicated that the teachers have implemented the differentiated instruction in the Pancasila Education subject through differentiation of content, process, and product. Furthermore, the differentiated instruction was able to meet the students’ learning needs and improve motivation, participation, and learning outcomes in the Pancasila Education subject in Elementary Schools. The teachers overcame the problems in adopting differentiated instruction, including lack of understanding of this approach, difficulty in conducting diagnostic testing and high number of students. Conclusion: The differentiated instruction in teachers' perceptions can help improve the students' motivation, participation, and learning outcomes. In addition, it also helps teachers in meeting their students' learning needs. Keywords: perception, differentiated learning, pancasila education, elementary school.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024121
