Abstract

Khiyar 'aib is the buyer's right to cancel a transaction if a defect is found in the purchased product. This study investigates the practice of khiyar 'aib in the sale and purchase of Muslim fashion products at Butik Inayah, located in Serang City. The study is motivated by findings that the seller does not take responsibility for defective products returned by consumers, arguing that the product's condition no longer meets store standards, despite the hangtag remaining attached. The objective of this research is to examine the implementation, legal conditions, and Islamic legal review of khiyar 'aib in transactions involving Muslim fashion products at Butik Inayah. A qualitative approach was employed using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of khiyar 'aib at Butik Inayah does not fully align with the principles of Islamic law. The seller does not offer a refund or replacement for defective goods, based on reasons that do not meet the valid conditions of khiyar 'aib. From the perspective of Islamic law, such practices do not reflect proper consumer protection as mandated by the sharia.  Keywords: Implementation, Khiyar ‘Aib, Sales Transactions, Butik Inayah, Islamic Law.

Abstract

This study explores the role of zakat in reducing poverty in rural areas, particularly in Pandeglang Regency, where socioeconomic disparities remain prominent. Despite its potential to improve community welfare, the actual impact of zakat on poverty alleviation in rural contexts is still underexplored. This research aims to identify the contribution of zakat in enhancing the quality of life for the poor and examine the factors that support or hinder zakat program implementation. A qualitative method was used, involving four purposively selected informants: an amil (zakat administrator), a muzakki (zakat donor), and two mustahik (zakat recipients). Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically. The study adopts the Theory of Community Empowerment and the Maqashid Shariah framework to interpret the findings. Results show that zakat contributes positively to basic needs fulfillment and temporary financial relief. However, challenges such as limited program resources, uneven distribution, lack of monitoring, and beneficiary dependence reduce long-term effectiveness. The study concludes that improving zakat management, professionalizing amil roles, enhancing public outreach, and integrating technology for transparency are crucial for maximizing impact. The research offers theoretical and practical implications, and suggests further exploration of zakat’s synergy with digital-based rural development programs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the economic potential of cash waqf as a social finance instrument for poverty reduction in Indonesia, with particular attention to governance structures and integration into economic empowerment strategies. The research employs a qualitative library research approach by reviewing peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, and institutional reports related to cash waqf, Islamic social finance, and poverty alleviation. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to synthesize conceptual and empirical insights from both Indonesian and comparative international contexts. The findings indicate that cash waqf in Indonesia has a large untapped economic potential, estimated at approximately IDR 180 trillion annually, with realization remaining below 10 percent. Effective implementation is closely associated with transparent governance, professional management, and institutional credibility. Furthermore, cash waqf demonstrates stronger and more sustainable poverty reduction outcomes when integrated into productive economic activities such as entrepreneurship development, microfinance, and social enterprises. The study discusses these findings through the lenses of social finance theory, institutional economics, and inclusive development. It argues that reframing cash waqf as a structured social finance instrument enhances its relevance for business-oriented policy discourse and strengthens its role in sustainable and inclusive economic development.

Abstract

This study uses satisfaction as an intervening variable in BAZNAS Banten Province to examine the influence of institutional reputation, financial literacy, and accountability on the trust of muzakki (payers of zakat). The phenomenon of many muzakki choosing to distribute zakat independently rather than through official institutions indicates that the level of public trust in zakat management institutions is still low, which is the main reason for conducting this study. This study combines quantitative methods with descriptive-verification strategies. A sample of 100 respondents was selected using purposive sampling, and data were collected through questionnaires. Analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression and mediation tests using the Baron & Kenny and Sobel Test techniques. The research findings indicate that zakat payers' satisfaction is significantly influenced by institutional reputation, financial knowledge, and accountability. Only financial knowledge and satisfaction were found to have a significant influence on zakat payers' trust in the second model; reputation and accountability did not show a significant influence. Furthermore, the relationship between financial literacy and zakat payers' trust is strengthened by zakat payers' satisfaction, which acts as an intermediary variable. Overall, this study suggests that the primary strategy in building zakat payers' trust at BAZNAS Banten Province is improving financial knowledge and service quality, which fosters satisfaction. These results can be used as a basis for developing zakat management regulations that are more accountable, transparent, and focused on the needs of zakat payers.
