Abstract

The purpose of the study was to analyze the impact of the crude palm oil export ban on the income of oil palm farming businesses in Danau Embat Village, Maro Sebo Ilir District. The study was conducted from January 2023 to August 2023. The types of data used were primary data and secondary data. The sample determination was carried out by simple random sampling. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. Quantitative analysis was carried out using the Paired Sample t Test (Test of two paired average differences). The results of the analysis of the two average differences test were significant for oil palm farming business income between before and after the CPO export ban, this can be seen from the significant value of 0.001 which is smaller than the probability value (α) of 0.05, which means that the impact of the CPO export ban has an effect on the decline in the income of oil palm farming businesses on smallholder plantations in Danau Embat Village. The CPO export ban should be reviewed because it will have an impact on the income of oil palm farmers.

Abstract

This research discusses the effect of coconut dregs compost (Cocos nucifera L.) on the growth and yield of tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum L.) cultivated using polybag media. This research is motivated by the importance of utilizing organic waste, especially coconut dregs, which has not been utilized optimally. Coconut dregs contain organic materials and nutrients that have the potential to increase soil fertility and improve the structure of the planting medium, so it is expected to support the vegetative and generative growth of tomato plants. The research design used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with six treatments and four replications. The treatments given were different doses of coconut dregs compost, namely P0 (control without compost), P1 (100 g/polybag), P2 (200 g/polybag), P3 (300 g/polybag), P4 (400 g/polybag), and P5 (500 g/polybag). The parameters observed included plant height, stem diameter, fresh weight, number of fruits per plant, root length, and estimated yield per hectare. The results showed that the application of coconut pulp compost significantly affected several growth parameters, such as plant height, stem diameter, and fresh weight. However, no significant effect was found on the number of fruits per plant or yield per hectare. The most prominent response was seen in the root length parameter, which showed a significant increase with increasing compost dosage. From the observations, the best treatment was at a dosage of 300 g/polybag (P3), which provided an optimal balance between vegetative growth and potential generative yield.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of different planting media on the growth and production of pakcoy plants (Brassica rapa L.) in the hydroponic system. The research design used a Group Random Design (RAK) with five treatments and five replicates. The treatment provided was in the form of wood charcoal planting media, rockwool, sponges, cocopeat, and burnt husks. The parameters observed included plant height, leaf width, number of leaves, total fresh weight, and the production of pakcoy plants. The results of the study show that the planting medium has a real influence on all growth and production parameters. The highest plant height reaches 20.99 cm, leaves width 8.96 cm, number of leaves 11.06 leaves, total fresh weight of 165.00 g, and production yield of 991.71 g. Rockwool and cocopeat planting media have proven to be the most effective in increasing the growth and production of pakcoy plants compared to other media. The advantage of rockwool lies in the ability to retain optimal moisture and aeration, while cocopeat has a good capacity to retain water and nutrients. Thus, the selection of the right planting medium is an important factor in the success of pakcoy cultivation in the hydroponic system, and can be used as a reference for farmers in increasing the productivity of horticultural crops in a sustainable manner.
