Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has brought significant changes to education, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This article aims to examine the transformation of PAI learning strategies in the digital era through a literature study, focusing on challenges, various effective strategies, as well as evaluation and implications of their implementation. The findings show that integrating traditional methods with digital technology, such as blended learning, flipped classroom, and interactive media, can enhance students’ motivation, engagement, and understanding of religious values. However, the success of these strategies depends on teachers’ readiness, infrastructure availability, and policy support. This article recommends improving teachers’ digital literacy, developing adaptive curricula, equalizing technology access, and utilizing interactive digital media to realize contextual and character-based PAI learning in the digital era.

Abstract

The learning process is conducted to achieve specific predetermined objectives. To ensure that this process stays on the right track, continuous assessment is essential. However, stagnant and unsustained assessment often occurs in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning. The purpose of this study is to understand the role of formative assessment in Islamic Religious Education learning and to find out the role of formative assessment in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed. Data collection techniques included participatory observation, structured interviews, and documentation, all aimed at obtaining in-depth information regarding formative assessment in IRE. The main informants in this study were three Islamic Religious Education teachers at SD IT Anak Sholeh. The findings reveal that formative assessment serves as a vital tool for educators to continuously monitor students' progress, refine teaching methods, and enhance overall learning outcomes. This assessment is conducted through various activities, including short quizzes, class discussions, and targeted assignments designed to evaluate students' understanding of newly introduced concepts. Within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum, formative assessment empowers students to engage in self-evaluation of their skills and knowledge retention. Despite certain challenges, the implementation of formative assessment at SD IT Anak Sholeh has proven effective, serving not only as an evaluation tool but also as a strategic approach to ensuring that Islamic Religious Education plays a key role in shaping students’ character in alignment with Islamic values.

Abstract

Writing skills are increasingly marginalized in the rise of digital literacy practices. The rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has not yet been accompanied by a well-established cyber-pedagogical framework capable of maintaining students’ independent writing competencies. This study aims to explore the lived experiences of Arabic Language Education students in utilizing AI within maharah al-kitabah learning and to analyze its implications for writing proficiency and academic ethics. A qualitative phenomenological approach was applied through semi-structured interviews with 23 students actively using AI-based applications in Arabic writing activities. The findings reveal that AI is perceived as a cognitive support tool that assists students in generating ideas, improving grammatical structures, enriching vocabulary, and enhancing coherence and writing fluency. However, students also acknowledge the risks of dependency and reduced critical thinking if AI is used without proper pedagogical guidance. These results underline the need for a reflective and ethically grounded integration of AI in maharah al-kitabah instruction to ensure sustainable development of independent writing skills.
