Abstract

The activity focuses on fostering independence and personal development among inmates at the Women's Correctional Facility Class IIa Malang through entrepreneurial skills training. This training will equip inmates with basic entrepreneurial skills, including identifying business opportunities, business planning, marketing strategies, and managing small business operations. Additionally, it teaches practical techniques for starting and running sustainable businesses. The entrepreneurial training is conducted through interactive discussions and the presentation of best practices over two days. It involves 50 selected inmates based on their interest in entrepreneurship and nearing release dates. Data analysis is carried out using a qualitative descriptive method. The training results show that the food and beverage sector is the primary choice among participants, with 60% interested in starting businesses in this field. Participants are also deemed to have acquired the skills to identify market opportunities, design effective business plans, and implement operational and marketing strategies. This training is expected to have a significant positive impact on the inmates, helping them build a better future and reducing the risk of recidivism.

Abstract

Ear, nose, and throat disorders are a significant health problem, especially in children. This article discusses the development of an expert system as a diagnosis tool for ENT disorders in children by applying the forward chaining method. The system development was carried out using the waterfall method and built based on android using Kodular. The system can diagnose 36 disorders with 42 symptoms obtained by literature study technique from the book First Aid in Your Home written by Dr Tony Smith and Dr Sue Davidson. The result of this system is able to help the process of diagnosing ENT disorders in children accurately based on knowledge from experts through android applications.

Abstract

Mathematics olympiads require higher-order thinking skills, logical reasoning, and mastery of non-routine material, one of which is combinatorics, a topic often considered difficult by students. Limitations in face-to-face coaching have encouraged the need for structured independent learning media that align with the characteristics of olympiad problems. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Math Universe application on students’ conceptual understanding of combinatorics in mathematics olympiads. The study employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pre-test–post-test design. The research subjects consisted of 40 students who were members of the Komunitas Pecinta Matematika (KPM). The research instrument was an olympiad-level combinatorics test administered before and after the use of the Math Universe application. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant difference in learning outcomes before and after the use of the Math Universe application. These findings indicate that Math Universe is effective in improving combinatorics learning outcomes through independent learning based on self-directed learning and mobile learning. This application has the potential to serve as a supporting medium for mathematics olympiad training, particularly for materials with a high level of complexity.
