Abstract

This study aimed to describe the pictorial and schematic representations of student understanding. The subjects were 31 students of grade VIII. The results of this study is two pictorial representations (right and wrong) and two schematic representation (right and wrong). Representation understanding of student described as follows: translational stage, students read the word problem to identify relational statements and quantity, then he transforms the mathematical idea into another form that is more easily understood. Integration stage, students identifying relational relationships between mathematical ideas to be organized into a scheme or image. Solution stage, students devise a solution based on the scheme or image that was created, and then perform calculations and check the answer.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mendeskripsikan proses berpikir siswa quitter dalam menyelesaikan masalah SPLDV. Pertama, dilakukan tes ARP (Adversity Response Profile) untuk mengetahui tipe adversity quotient dari masing-masing siswa. Selanjutnya, dipilih siswa dengan tipe quitter. Siswa diberikan tugas pemecahan masalah SPLDV dan wawancara berbasis tugas. Dalam pemecahan masalah ini, digunakan langkah-langkah pemecahan polya yaitu memahami masalah, menyusun rencana penyelesaian, menyelesaikan masalah sesuai perencanaan, dan memeriksa kembali hasil yang telah diperoleh. Hasilnya, siswa dengan tipe quitter melakukan asimilasi saat memahami masalah dan akomodasi pada langkah menyusun rencana penyelesaian, menyelesaikan masalah sesuai perencanaan, dan memeriksa kembali hasil yang telah diperoleh. Untuk masalah rumit, siswa dengan tipe quitter melakukan asimilasi salah (asimilasi yang memberikan hasil salah) ataupun akomodasi tidak sempurna karena informasi yang dimiliki kurang.

Abstract

Pemerintah Indonesia setiap tahun mengadakan Olimpiade Sains Nasional (OSN). Soal-soal yang dilombakan dalam OSN umumnya bersifat soal yang tidak rutin yang metode penyelesaiannya menuntut pemikiran produktif seseorang untuk menggunakan strategi, pendekatan atau teknik khusus. Namun demikian, soal-soal yang demikian jarang ditemui di buku sekolah. Hal ini mengakibatkan siswa perlu disiapkan secara matang untuk mengikuti lomba tersebut. Guru di sekolah juga harus menguasai materi olimpiade untuk mempersiapkan siswa-siswanya mengikuti OSN. Berdasarkan survey yang dilakukan kepada 46 guru matematika SMP di Kabupaten Blitar, kebanyakan guru tidak familiar dan tidak siap membina siswa dengan soal-soal OSN. Sebanyak 61% menyatakan bahwa tidak ada pembinaan olimpiade di sekolah. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, pelatihan pembinaan olimpiade matematika bagi guru sangat perlu dilakukan. Kegiatan pengabdian berupa pelatihan pembinaan olimpiade ini dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap, yaitu (1) pemantapan materi olimpiade matematika bagi guru SMP; (2) pendampingan untuk guru peserta pelatihan dalam pembinaan mandiri di sekolah masing-masing menggunakan buku pembinaan yang disusun oleh tim pengabdian; (3) tahap evaluasi, yaitu guru-guru peserta pelatihan menyampaikan kendala-kendala yang dihadapi ketika mengadakan pembinaan di sekolah masing-masing. Peserta juga diberikan pre-test dan post-test untuk melihat adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah OSN. Hasil dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah adanya peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam menyelesaian masalah dan peningkatan kepercayaan diri guru dalam membina siswanya di sekolah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the initial conception of prospective teachers about creative thinking in mathematics. This research used a qualitative research method. The Research was conducted at private universities in Semarang, held in the second semester of the academic year 2016/2017. The subjects were six students of the seventh semester. This research used two instruments; test to explore the concept of creative thinking and interview. This study provides findings that there are similarities in the concept of prospective teachers in mathematical creative thinking. The prospective teacher's conception of the creative thinking of mathematics leads to the emergence of new concepts or ideas in completing mathematical problems based on experience. The appearance of the new idea in question is to solve a different problem from the existing procedure and solve the problem with a different perspective that is still logical. The prospective teacher's said that it was necessary for prospective teachers to understand the concept of creative thinking in mathematics to solve mathematical problems from various perspectives based on his learning experience.

Abstract

Imitating performance is not a mediocre element, yet it is a unique ability possessed by humans. Researche concerning on imitating performance has been widely conducted in early childhood education and in adults educations. However, imitating performance studies related to elementary school context is rarely explored. This study was intended to figure out the imitating performance of 5th grade student. This study was analyzed qualitatively where the researcher involved in all stage of the research. The results of the research indicated that there were few imitating performance indicators that were not fullfiled. The students were not able to apply the examples in the new context, in other words the students had failed in applying the examples. Consequently, they faced difficulties in communicating the solutions of mathematical problems.  Instead of helping the students, the key words provide by a teachers make the students confuse in resolving different problems.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of explanations made by pre-service teachers in mathematics learning. In this research, the types of explanations are used to describe the explanatory trends used by pre-service teachers in mathematics teaching. The descriptive qualitative research was chosen in this research. The research subjects are pre-service teacher as the students of Mathematics Education of PGRI Madiun University and Madura University who are studying Field Experience Practice. Of the 105 mathematics student, five students with a cumulative grade achievement of more than 3.50 were observed during the teaching practice at the school for approximately five meetings. The research data was obtained from observation, video recording, and interview. Data analysis was done through data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion/verification focused on pre-service teacher explanation on mathematics learning activity. The research findings indicate that the explanation used by the pre-service teacher in the mathematics learning starting from the most frequently used is the descriptive explanation (51,7%), giving of reason (36,2%) and interpretative (12,1%). Descriptive explanations are used to describe mathematical procedures. The type of reason-giving explanation is used to explain reasons based on mathematical principles. Furthermore, the interpretative explanation is used to explain the concepts and facts of mathematics.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the misrepresentation of students with high mathematical ability in solving comparative problems. This type of research is descriptive research. The subjects in this study were one grade VIII J student at SMP Negeri 1 Ngunut Tulungagung. In this study, data collection techniques used were tests to solve problems of comparison and interviews with students. Comparative test sheets and interview guidelines were used as instruments in this study. The results of this study are students with high mathematical ability to make visual and verbal representational errors at the step of understanding a problem.At the step of devising a plan, carrying out the plan and looking back the symbol representation error.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang kesalahan representasi siswa berkemampuan matematika tinggi dalam menyelesaikan masalah perbandingan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah satu siswa kelas VIII J di SMP Negeri 1 Ngunut Tulungagung.Dalam penelitian ini, teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes menyelesaikan masalah perbandingan dan wawancara dengan siswa. Lembar tes soal perbandingan dan pedoman wawancara digunakan sebagai instrumen dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini adalah siswa yang berkemampuan matematika tinggi melakukan kesalahan representasi visual dan verbal pada tahap memahami masalah. Pada tahap merencanakan penyelesaian, melaksanakan rencana penyelesaian dan memeriksa kembali melakukan kesalahan representasi simbol.

Abstract

HIV berkembang menjadi Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) mengakibatkan kematian dengan melemahnya sistem imun dan mudahnya penyakit masuk ke dalam tubuh seseorang. Model matematika SJAT digunakan untuk menganalisis penyebaran AIDS dengan terdiri empat kelas yaitu kelas individu rentan, kelas individu terinfeksi HIV dengan gejala, kelas individu AIDS dan kelas individu mendapatkan pengobatan ARV. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu melihat dinamika penyebaran penyakit AIDS, melakukan simulasi model terhadap penyebaran penyait AIDS di Kecamatan Pujer Kabupaten Bondowoso. Tahap menganalisis model yaitu mencari titik kesetimbangan, menganalisa titik setimbang, mencari bilangan reproduksi dasar, dan melakukan simulasi model menggunakan maple17. Berdasarkan hasil analisa diperoleh 0,02222489365  Sehingga mempunyai titik setimbang bebas penyakit. Artinya, pada waktu lama proporsi individu akan menuju titik kesetimbangan dengan rata-rata penyakit AIDS dalam populasi sudah tidak menyebarHIV develops into Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) resulting in death by weakening the immune system and the ease with which diseases enter a person's body. The SJAT mathematical model is used to analyze the spread of AIDS and consists of four classes, namely a class of susceptible individuals, a class of HIV-infected individuals with symptoms, a class of AIDS individuals and a class of individuals receiving ARV treatment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the stability of the SJAT Epidemic Model Stability on the HIV/AIDS AIDS in Pujer District Bondowoso Regency. The stage of analyzing the model is to find the equilibrium point, analyze the equilibrium point, find the basic reproduction number, and simulate the model using maple17. Based on the analysis results obtained . So that it has a disease-free equilibrium point. This means that in a long time the proportion of individuals will come to a point of equilibrium with the average AIDS disease in the population has not spread

Abstract

Distance learning is a learning system that does not take place in one room and there is no face-to-faceinteraction between the teacher and the learner. This study aims to determine the impact of implementingdistance learning in Indonesia from a commognitive point of view. This research is a descriptive type ofresearch with a total of 543 participants who come from high school students in Pasuruan district, Indonesia.Data collection using a questionnaire. After the questionnaire is collected, it is analyzed using the Milesand Huberman method through reduction, display data, and conclusion, then it will be studied based on thecommognitive theory. The results show that based on commognitive studies, students are more likely to stillneed a visual mediator as a visible object to be used as a communication medium, its realization dependson the material context. Students need to communicate to ask questions related to material that has not beenunderstood. So it can be said that visual mediator is important during distance learning.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the mathematical reasoning process of students with high emotional intelligence. This research is a qualitative case study. The subject of this study was one student with high emotional intelligence. The instruments of this study are: emotional intelligence test, mathematical reasoning test, and interview guidelines. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that students who have high emotional intelligence do mathematical reasoning by submitting guesses, drawing conclusions from a statement, doing mathematical manipulation, and being able to check validity of an argument.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses penalaran matematis siswa SMP dengan kecerdasaan emosional tinggi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif jenis studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa dengan kecerdasan emosional tinggi. Instrumen penelitian ini yaitu: tes kecerdasan emosional, tes penalaran matematis, dan pedoman wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa siswa yang memiliki kecerdasan emosional tinggi melakukan penalaran matematis dengan cara mengajukan dugaan, menarik kesimpulanudari suatu pernyataan, melakukan manipulasi matematika, serta memeriksa kesahihan suatu argumen.
