Abstract

This research explored the representation of the childfree lifestyle in the novel Ours by Adrindia Ryandisza through the lens of Jean-Paul Sartre's existentialism The novel narrates the story of a protagonist who consciously chooses not to have children and illustrates how this decision impacts her relationships with her partner, family, and social environment. This research focused on two main issues: (1) the portrayal of childfree decisions in relation to the concept of human freedom, and (2) the perspective of alienation. It employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through close reading and note-taking, followed by stages of identification, classification, analysis, description, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that the decision to be childfree reflects individual freedom, emphasizing awareness, responsibility, and control over one's own life However, this freedom also leads to feelings of alienation rooted in societal norms and stigmatization. This research concluded that Ours offers a clear representation of how the childfree choice is an existential act of freedom that demands full responsibility, while also highlighting the challenges faced by individuals whose life choices deviate from social conventions.

Abstract

Moralitas merupakan suatu perbuatan atau tindakan yang dilakukan oleh seseorang dan situasi tertentu berdasarkan norma atau kaidah yang telah ditetapkan. Perilaku seperti itu terdapat pula dalam karya sastra novel. Oleh sebab itu, permasalahan dalam novel ini adalah (1) Bagaimanakah hubungan manusia dengan dirinya sendiri dalam novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu karya J.S Khairen? (2) Bagaimanakah hubungan manusia dengan manusia dalam lingkup sosial dalam novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu karya J.S Khairen? (3) Bagaimanakah hubungan manusia dengan tuhannya dalam novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu karya J.S Khairen? Adapun yang melandasi penelitian ini yaitu teori nilai moral yang dikemukakan oleh Burhan Nurgiantoro. Burhan Nurgiantoro, Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini merupakan bentuk nilai moral dalam novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu karya J.S Khairen. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini bersumber dari kutipan-kutipan cerita dalam novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu karya J.S Khairen. Teknik analisi data dilakukan dengan cara membaca secara keseluruhan, mengklasifikasikan, menganalisis, menguraikan dan menyimpulkan hasil analisis data penelitian. Hasil penelitian dan pembahasan menunjukan bahwa bentuk-bentuk nilai moral tokoh dalam novel terdiri lima yaitu, (1) pantang menyerah, rela berkorban. (2) menghargai orang lain, tolong menolong, peduli terhadap orang lain. (3) spritual. Simpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah moralitas dalam novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu karya J.S Khairen yang diwujudkan melalui sikap pantang menyerah, rela berkorban, menghargai orang lain, tolong menolong, dan sikap spiritual. Kata kunci: moralitas, tokoh, novel

Abstract

This study aims to identify the forms of cultural symbols, symbolic meanings, and mythic narratives found in the traditional games of the Gorontalo community in Sukamaju Village, Boalemo Regency. The research focuses on understanding these games as a system of signs that reflects local worldviews, social values, and cultural identity. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study design was used, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of surviving games such as mongawuta, mokainje, mopondi, and mokalari. The analysis employs Roland Barthes’s semiotic theory, which categorizes meaning into denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings show that cultural symbols appear in natural materials used in the games, rules, movement patterns, and social interactions among players. Abstract

Hard skills and soft skills training for people with disabilities in Gorontalo City aims to improve skills and open up employment or entrepreneurship opportunities. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which is an approach whose process aims at learning in overcoming problems and meeting the practical needs of society, as well as the production of knowledge, and the process of religiousness change. The results obtained from this community service activity are hard skills training focused on introducing computer networks through Google Classroom and narrative videos on YouTube, covering material such as IP Addresses, TCP/IP, OSI 7 Layer, Routing, and DNS. Soft skills training includes communication skills, information literacy, critical thinking, and independent learning, which are relevant to increasing information accessibility, social participation, and employment opportunities.
