Abstract

This study aims to develop a tajweed learning video in the Qur’an Hadith subject, specifically on mad reading rules (Mad Thabi’i, Mad Wajib Muttashil, and Mad Jaiz Munfashil), and to evaluate its feasibility and effectiveness in enhancing students’ understanding. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method, including expert validation and limited trials involving seventh-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah. The results indicate that the developed video is both feasible and effective for tajweed learning. Its integrated visual and auditory approach helps students grasp tajweed concepts both theoretically and practically. Expert validation scored above 85%, while student responses were highly positive in terms of comprehension, engagement, and content clarity.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the role of kiai in implementing prophetic educational values at the Nahdhatut Ta'limiyah Islamic Boarding School, Pamekasan Regency, and analyze the function of kiai as a cultural broker in maintaining a balance between religion, local culture, and the demands of modernity. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods in the form of participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results show that KH. M. Musleh Adnan applies prophetic educational leadership based on three main pillars, namely humanization (amar ma'ruf), liberation (nahi munkar), and transcendence (faith in Allah). These three pillars are internalized through educational strategies that include exemplary behavior (uswah hasanah), habituation (ta'wid), and continuous mentoring (muraqabah). In practice, kiai not only act as educators and spiritual leaders, but also as cultural mediators capable of integrating Islamic teachings with local Madurese traditions, such as tahlilan (religious gatherings), haul (haul), and public religious studies (pengajian). This integration demonstrates a contextual form of prophetic education, where local culture is positioned as a medium for da'wah (Islamic preaching) and a means of character formation for students. Furthermore, KH. M. Musleh Adnan encourages students to have a critical, adaptive, and open attitude towards technological developments and social change, without losing the foundation of Islamic spiritual and moral values. With this approach, the Nahdhatut Ta'limiyah Islamic Boarding School has developed as a humanistic, transformative, and moderate educational space, and functions as a center for the culturalization of prophetic values relevant to the context of contemporary society.

Abstract

This study analyzes the contextualization strategy of Islamic Religious Education learning at the Nahdlatut Ta'miliyah Islamic Boarding School through the use of social media and its role in enhancing community religious understanding. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through observation of social media content, in-depth interviews with pesantren caretakers and administrators, and analysis of audience interactions on digital platforms. The findings reveal that social media particularly YouTube and Instagram functions as a primary infrastructure for da‘wah and learning rather than merely a supplementary medium. Classical Islamic texts (yellow books) are presented in a communicative, applicable, and contextual format, reflecting efforts to preserve the authenticity of traditional Islamic scholarship while adapting it to contemporary social, cultural, and technological contexts. The learning strategy emphasizes the use of everyday life examples, humor, and two-way interaction, aligning with the principles of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Islamic educational psychology. This approach effectively increases audience engagement and strengthens the understanding and internalization of Islamic values. Furthermore, social media provides a dialogical space that enables direct feedback, allowing pesantren to adjust da‘wah content to actual community needs. Nonetheless, the study identifies challenges related to maintaining a balance between contextualization and theoretical depth, as well as the need to diversify content formats to reach broader and younger audiences. Overall, the study confirms that social media-based contextualization of Islamic education requires pedagogical competence, media literacy, and contextual sensitivity to ensure relevance and impact in the digital era.

Abstract

This literature study aims to comprehensively map the problems of implementing the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum in public schools and madrasas in Indonesia. This research uses a literature review approach by examining various scientific articles, policy reports, and relevant previous research results. The results of the study indicate that the challenges of implementing the PAI curriculum can be classified into three main levels: policy or curriculum design, classroom implementation, and evaluation and assessment systems. The research findings reveal differences in the pattern of problems between public schools and madrasas. In public schools, PAI tends to be marginalized due to limited time allocation and its position within the Independent Curriculum, resulting in shallow learning and solely cognitive-oriented learning. Meanwhile, madrasas face the complex problem of curriculum dualism between the national curriculum and the religious curriculum, which has the potential to burden students and reduce the depth of understanding of the material. On the other hand, both educational institutions face relatively similar challenges in implementation and evaluation aspects, such as the dominance of lecture methods, limited teacher pedagogical competence, difficulties in measuring affective and spiritual aspects, and weak integration of Islamic values with the dynamics of the digital era and Society 5.0. This situation has hampered the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping the character, morals, and spirituality of students. Therefore, solutions are needed to develop a contextual, holistic, and systemic Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum, taking into account the specific characteristics, needs, and challenges of each educational institution.
