Abstract

Indonesia’s long historical ties with the Netherlands have produced a diverse diaspora whose organizations shape cross-border relations, yet their concrete roles and mechanisms remain underexplored. This study asks how the Indonesian Diaspora Network-Netherlands (IDN-NL) helps form and sustain a transnational social space linking communities in the Netherlands with Indonesia. Using a library-based design, it analyzes documentary sources from 2013 to 2025, including organizational materials and secondary studies, to map actors, programs, events, and policy linkages. The findings show that IDN-NL coordinates thematic task forces in arts and culture, culinary, health, environment and sustainability, liveable cities, tourism, migrant workers, and My Roots. These units organize cultural-culinary events and community associations that enable regular interaction, support Indonesian business activity and remittances that reinforce economic ties, use digital platforms for routine coordination, and pursue advocacy on issues such as visa facilities and dual citizenship. Taken together, these activities integrate event-based nodes, online coordination, and policy support, transforming dispersed initiatives into a more organized and durable transnational social space. The article contributes an empirically grounded account of how a diaspora organization functions as an institutional connector, while indicating areas for improved documentation and capacity building in future research.

Abstract

Penurunan skor Global Peace Index menegaskan urgensi pendidikan kewarganegaraan global untuk mendorong sikap toleransi dan cinta damai. Program pengabdian ini dirancang untuk menginternalisasikan Global Citizenship Education di SMK Assalam Bantur, Kabupaten Malang, guna memperkuat karakter siswa yang inklusif, toleran, dan berorientasi pada perdamaian. Intervensi dilakukan melalui pembelajaran yang mengombinasikan sosialisasi dan workshop, pemutaran film dokumenter bertema kerukunan dan toleransi serta diikuti diskusi reflektif. Peserta berjumlah 30 siswa. Evaluasi menggunakan desain pre-test dan post-test, observasi partisipatif, serta umpan balik terstruktur dari siswa. Kegiatan ini memperkaya praktik pendidikan perdamaian di lingkungan sekolah berbasis pesantren dengan memadukan pendekatan kognitif, afektif, dan ekspresif yang relevan dengan konteks lokal. Luaran yang ditargetkan meliputi peningkatan pengetahuan dan sikap toleran siswa, materi ajar, dokumentasi kegiatan, serta diseminasi ke media online dan artikel jurnal pengabdian. Program ini sejalan dengan prioritas Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Brawijaya dalam penguatan inovasi kelembagaan dan kebijakan. Kegiatan ini juga mendukung SDG 16 tentang perdamaian, keadilan, dan kelembagaan yang tangguh, sekaligus memperkaya praktik pendidikan perdamaian di sekolah mitra.

Abstract

This study analyzed the strategic modernization of Pituffik Space Base within the context of deteriorating Arctic geopolitics and the emergence of hypersonic threats. Utilizing Stephen Krasner’s framework of Organized Hypocrisy, the research examined the contradiction between the formal recognition of Danish sovereignty and the actual strategic behavior of the United States between 2020-2026. A qualitative analysis of defense agreements, diplomatic documents, and infrastructure projects was conducted to identify discrepancies between stated norms and operational realities. The results demonstrated that the United States maintained de jure sovereignty through symbolic acts, such as renaming the facility, while simultaneously executing unilateral military expansion and political intervention. The findings indicated that this decoupling allowed for a sovereignty of permissions, where the host nation retained legal title while the external power secured total operational access. The study concluded that this arrangement minimized transaction costs for the great power while preserving the diplomatic legitimacy of the semi-sovereign territory.

Abstract

This article examines how Law No. 17 of 2023 translates International Health Regulations (IHR) obligations into Indonesia’s disease surveillance governance. The article uses Global Health Governance and the idea of global governance as state transformation to explain how international standards become operational through domestic legal and institutional change. Methodologically, the article adopts a qualitative single-case study design and uses a structured desk review of Law No. 17 of 2023, WHO assessments, Indonesian policy documents, surveillance evaluations, and relevant academic literature. The findings show that Law No. 17 of 2023 strengthens Indonesia’s formal surveillance architecture by embedding screening and surveillance within primary health care, clarifying central and regional government responsibilities, supporting laboratory-based detection, integrating health information systems, linking surveillance with outbreak preparedness and emergency response, and recognizing multisectoral coordination for communicable disease control. However, the law’s practical effect remains constrained by decentralization, unequal subnational capacity, weak infrastructure in remote areas, fragmented data systems, limited interoperability, workforce shortages, and coordination problems across sectors and levels of government. The article implies that Law No. 17 of 2023 represents an important domestic legal translation of IHR obligations, but legal formalization alone is insufficient to ensure surveillance performance. Stronger operational consolidation is still needed so that surveillance can function consistently across Indonesia’s institutions, territories, and sectors
