Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer affecting women and often requires surgical management. Surgical procedures frequently cause anxiety in patients, which can impact the healing process and the effectiveness of treatment. High levels of preoperative anxiety may negatively affect patients’ physiological and psychological conditions. This study aims to describe the level of anxiety in breast cancer patients before undergoing surgery at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. This research is a descriptive categorical study using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 59 breast cancer patients scheduled for surgery at the Oncology Clinic & Inpatient Ward 1 Day Before Surgery at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instrument used was the APAIS (Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale) questionnaire. The majority of patients scheduled for surgery at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang were over 45 years old (76.3%), had completed senior high school (49.2%), were unemployed (71.2%), and most had never undergone surgery before (59.3%). Anxiety levels showed that 40.7% of patients experienced mild anxiety, 37.3% moderate anxiety, and 22% severe anxiety. No patients experienced very severe (panic-level) anxiety. Most breast cancer patients in the preoperative phase at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang experienced mild to moderate anxiety. These findings highlight the importance of providing education and psychological support to patients prior to surgery.

Abstract

Teenage pregnancy, which is a major public health problem for mothers and childrens, is often associated with adverse health impacts, especially on maternal and child health. This study aims to analyze the impact of teenage pregnancy on maternal and child health. This systematic review uses the PRISMA-P Protocol (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols). Studies were collected through searches on the Google Scholar data source, PubMed from 2019 to 2023. Searching for key data using the PICO-S (Population Intervention Compare Outcome - Study Design) technique, 1025 studies were found and nine studies were included in this research. From the nine studies reviewed, it was found that teenage pregnancy has an impact on maternal and child health such as obstetric complications (eclampsia, premature labor, anemia during childbirth, postpartum bleeding, hypertension in pregnancy, HELLP and LBW syndrome) and can have an impact stunting in children born. Teenage pregnancy has an impact on the health of the mother and child by causing various health complications.

Abstract

Melasma is a hyperpigmentation disorder that commonly affects women and is influenced by various factors, including ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure. Female street sweepers are a high-risk occupational group due to prolonged UV exposure during daily work activities, which may increase the incidence of melasma. To determine the relationship between ultraviolet (UV) exposure and the incidence of melasma in female street sweepers at the West Pasaman Regency Environmental Service in 2025, and to identify the characteristics of respondents based on age group, duration of working hours exposed to UV rays, length of work, level of UV exposure, and incidence of melasma. This study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 35 female street sweepers were included using total sampling technique. Melasma occurrence was assessed through clinical examination, while UV exposure levels were measured using a validated ultraviolet exposure questionnaire. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate statistical analyses (Chi-square). Melasma was found in 29 respondents (82.9%), while 6 respondents (17.1%) did not experience melasma. Most respondents had moderate UV exposure levels (57.1%), followed by high exposure levels (42.9%). Bivariate analysis demonstrated a statistically significant association between ultraviolet exposure and melasma occurrence (p-value = 0.02). Female street sweepers at the West Pasaman Regency Environmental Agency had predominantly moderate levels of ultraviolet (UV) exposure, with a high incidence of melasma. There was a significant relationship between ultraviolet (UV) exposure and melasma incidence among female street sweepers at the West Pasaman Regency Environmental Agency in 2025.
