Abstract

This research explores the challenges faced in implementing edutainment in elementary schools as an alternative method for increasing student motivation and involvement and honing their problem-solving skills. This research is based on the increasing need to create an engaging and effective learning atmosphere and problems related to low student motivation and monotonous learning methods. The research method used is a qualitative approach with the type of case study research. Data collection techniques are carried out through in-depth interviews with teachers, direct observation in the classroom, and documentation of learning activities. The findings show that although edutainment succeeds in increasing student engagement, the main challenge is balancing the entertainment element and the educational objectives. In addition, efficient time management and selecting appropriate educational games are key in optimizing the benefits of edutainment. The contribution of this research is to provide insight into how the implementation of edutainment can be optimized at the elementary school level, as well as identify obstacles that need to be considered by educators. The recommendation of this study is to create the right balance between entertainment and learning and to provide training to teachers to choose and apply educational games that are relevant to the learning objectives.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the strategies of the madrasah principal in realizing a digital-based quality of academic service, which includes digital-based learning services, administrative services, and library services. The research method used is qualitative research with interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection methods. Data were analyzed using data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that the madrasah principal's strategy in implementing digital-based learning services is carried out by preparing digital devices, creating the integrated SMARD MAN 1 learning platform, and improving teachers' digital competencies in technology usage. Digital administrative services are realized through two services, namely personnel services and correspondence services. Digital-based library services are realized through the procurement of hardware and software, the digitization of book collections and learning materials, and the development of an integrated digital library portal with SMARD MAN 1.

Abstract

This study explores the configuration of cultural identity among professors of Islamic studies at state Islamic higher education institutions (PTKI) in the Mataraman region of East Java, Indonesia. Drawing on Clifford Geertz’s santri–priyayi–abangan framework, the research examines how professors negotiate their self-identities within Javanese socio-religious structures. Employing an interpretive ethnographic approach, this study is based on in-depth interviews with professors of Islamic studies from three PTKI—IAIN Kediri, UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, and IAIN Ponorogo—complemented by participatory observation of academic rituals, religious gatherings, and institutional practices, as well as analysis of relevant institutional documents. The findings reveal a dynamic interplay between academic professionalism and pesantren-based cultural heritage. While most informants identify primarily as professional Islamic intellectuals rather than traditional kyai or priyayi, many embody hybrid cultural affiliations. Their achieved status as state-recognized professors often contrasts with community perceptions rooted in religious authority and pesantren lineage. This identity configuration points to the emergence of a new social formation—the elite santri—characterized by academically sanctioned authority that remains culturally resonant. The study contributes to a nuanced understanding of contemporary Islamic academia and shifting patterns of religious authority in Javanese Muslim society.
