Abstract

Abstract: Background. The Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) is an essential program designed to facilitate the transition of freshmen into university life, equipping them with the skills and values required to succeed in higher education. Aims. This article discusses the implementation of PKKMB at the University of Papua, held on August 20–22, 2025, with 1,999 participants across three campuses: Manokwari, Sorong, and Waisai Raja Ampat. In the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0, PKKMB plays a strategic role in preparing students to adapt to rapid technological changes while upholding national values. Methods. The program emphasizes academic readiness, character development, disaster preparedness, and the cultivation of 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and lifelong learning. The opening ceremony was symbolically marked by the Rector of the University of Papua with the pinning of participant badges. Conclusion. The outcomes highlight the importance of strengthening student resilience, national identity, and global competencies to face the challenges of future education and societal demands.

Abstract

Background. Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem caused by prolonged inadequate nutrient intake, leading to impaired child growth where height falls below the age-standard. One effective intervention is dairy consumption, which provides protein, calcium, vitamin D, and other essential micronutrients. However, public awareness of its benefits is still limited, necessitating continuous education. Aims. To enhance public knowledge and awareness regarding stunting, its impact on child growth and development, and to promote the role of milk consumption as a nutritional intervention to support optimal growth and prevent stunting. Methods. This community service program (PKM) was carried out in Kampung Meyes, North Manokwari District, on May 12, 2025, involving 40 participants, including children and parents. The program used an educational campaign method through leaflet distribution, interactive discussions, and free milk distribution for children. The results showed a positive response: children were enthusiastic about milk consumption, community leaders expressed gratitude, and parents acknowledged the importance of nutrition education. Conclusion. Educational campaigns are effective in raising awareness and promoting behavioral change in the community. Regular follow-up programs and collaborative efforts among academics, local government, and the private sector are recommended to strengthen stunting prevention and improve child nutrition in rural communities.

Abstract

Demand analysis is essential for providing information that serves as a reference in formulating government policies for managing livestock products. This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing the demand for chicken eggs in Manokwari Regency. Secondary data covering the period 2013–2022 were obtained from the Manokwari Class II Agricultural Quarantine Station and several agencies in West Papua Province, including the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Fisheries and Marine Affairs, and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health. The data were analyzed using linear regression with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. The results showed that the demand for chicken eggs in Manokwari Regency was influenced by the price of chicken eggs, the price of free-range chicken eggs, the price of duck eggs, the price of beef, the price of rice, the price of tempeh, and the population size.

Abstract

Abstract  In Kabupaten Kepulauan Yapen, more broiler chickens still need to be produced. Once the variables that affect production are known, optimal production can be carried out. This research aims to examine the variables that affect broiler chicken productivity. A descriptive methodology combined with a case study technique was used to perform the study. Six respondents who grew broiler chickens throughout four production cycles were interviewed and observed during the data collection. The factors affecting production are identified using multiple linear regression. The findings revealed that the number of birds at harvest, average body weight at harvest, depletion, farmer's education, farmer's age, and the number of family members were the factors that influenced (P>0.05) the output of broiler chickens. Breeders should take note of these characteristics in order to boost broiler production. Keywords: Broiler; Production; Yapen islands   Abstrak  Produksi ayam ras pedaging di Kabupaten Kepulauan Yapen masih perlu ditingkatkan.
