Abstract

Escherichia coli is a bacteria that inhabitant in the cattle or human intestine. Raw beef sold in the traditional markets is easily to contaminated by E. coli. It’s because the markets is one of the vulnerable and the risk is high enough against contamination. The goal of this research is to detect E. coli contamination in the fresh raw beef at several markets in Pekanbaru. This research used 100 gr fresh raw beef purchased from the six traditional markets in Pekanbaru. The study begins with a Most probable Number (MPN) test, than isolation and identification of the media ECB and L-EMB, initially with IMViC test (Indol, Methyl Red, Voges Praskauer and Citrate). Results of MPN test showed that all raw beef were contaminated E.coli with MPN varying value.

Abstract

The research aims to study the effect of the provision interaction Trichokompos of oil palm empty bunches (OPEB) formulated and potassium fertilizer, the main effect of both the growth and production and K nutrient uptake by plants red onion (Allium ascalonicum L.) on peat land. The study was conducted experimentally in the form of 4 x 3 factorial prepared using a completely randomized design (CRD). Trichokompos OPEB formulated as the first factor consisted of 4 levels (15, 20, 25 and 30 ton / ha) and potassium as the second factor consists of three levels (50, 100 and 150 kg K₂O / ha). The observed parameters include the number of tillers, fresh weight of tuber per m², K nutrient uptake and clump of dry weight tubers per sample red onion crop. The results showed that the 25 ton / ha Trichokompos OPEB formulated and 100 kg K₂O / ha increased fresh weight of tuber per m² until 1.7 times (71.3%), K uptake by 2.8 times (185%) and dry weight clump of tubers per sample by 2.5 times (154.5%) compared to the provision of 15 tons / ha at the same doses of potassium fertilizer (100 kg K₂O / ha). Enhancement of doses Trichokompos OPEB formulated from 15 to 25 tonnes / ha increased fresh weight of tuber per m², K uptake and dry weight of tuber per sample. Enhancement of doses to 30 tonnes / ha still affect the increase in all parameters observed. Enhancement of doses potassium from 50 to 100 and 150 kg K₂O / ha did not affect all parameters observed.

Abstract

Actinomycetes endophytes are bacteria that live in plant tissues and are known as secondary metabolites that have activity as an antibacterial. This study was conducted to isolate Actinomycetes endophytes from vetiver plant tissue (Vetiveria zizanioides) and test for the activity of antibacterial compounds againstStaphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli by using diffusion method. Actinomycetes endophytes successfully isolated were isolates of RTP-1, RTP-2 and RTP-3. The results of antibacterial compound activity test showed that the three Actinomycetes endophytic isolates were able to inhibit the growth of S. aureus and E. coli bacteria. The best inhibitory ability against E. coli bacteria with a drag zone diameter of 20 mm while the largest inhibitory zone diameter against S. aureus bacteria was 9 mm.

Abstract

Jamur tiram secara alami tumbuh pada batang-batang kayu yang telah mengalami pelapukan. Jamur tiram dapat tumbuh pada media serbuk kayu, jerami padi, alang-alang, sisa kertas, ampas tebu, kulit kacang, dan bahan media lainnnya. Penelitian dilaksanakan secara eksperimen menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), yang disusun secara faktorial yang terdiri dari satu faktor dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan yaitu P0: konsentrasi serbuk kayu 100 % dan bagas 0% (kontrol), P1: konsentrasi serbuk kayu 75% dan bagas 25%, P2: konsentrasi serbuk kayu 50% dan bagas 50%, P3: konsentrasi serbuk kayu 25% dan bagas 75%, dan P4: konsentrasi bagas 100%. Untuk menganalisis pertumbuhan jamur tiram putih, digunakananalisis varian (Anova) taraf 5% yang dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata jumlah tubuh buah berturut-turut yaitu P0 5,33 buah, P1 8,00 buah, P2 8,33 buah, P3 10,33 buah dan P4 18,00 buah. Jumlah tubuh buah tertinggi diperoleh pada perlakuan P4 yaitu 18,00. Sedangkan rata-rata berat basah jamur berturut-turut yaitu P0 33,33gr, P1 66,67gr, P2 66,67gr, P3 80,00gr dan P4 96,67gr. Berat basah jamur tertinggi diperoleh pada perlakuan P4 yaitu 96,67gr. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian bagas sebagai media pertumbuhan jamur tiram putih dapat meningkatkan jumlah tubuh buah dan berat basah jamur tiram putih.

Abstract

Gas karbon dioksida (CO2) adalah salah satu gas rumah kaca yang berpotensi menyebabkan pemanasan global. Emisi gas tersebut yang berasal dari sisa pembakaran kegiatan transportasi, permukiman, dan industri saat ini cenderung meningkat. Salah satu cara untuk menguranginya adalah dengan memanfaatkan tumbuhan untuk menyerapnya. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan analisa Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) eksisting di Kota Pekanbaru dalam menyerap emisi CO2. Untuk mengetahui kemampuan RTH dalam menyerap CO2 direncanakan dua skenario, yakni mengoptimalkan luas pepohonan pada RTH eksisting serta gabungan pengelolaan RTH yang belum dikelola pemerintah dan penambahan RTH baru. Abstract

Endophytic fungi are microorganisms living in healthy tissue of their host plants without causing disease. Endophytic fungi live in every plant, including Vetiveria zizanioides L. medicinal plant intracellulary and/or intercellulary. This plant was screened pharmacologically for antibacterial, antifungal, anticataleptic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory, rheumatism, anti oxidant and anti arthritic activity. This research aimed to isolation endophytic fungi from V. zizanioides L. and to screening their antimicrobial potency against microflora Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans. Endophytic fungi isolation from V. zizanioides L. was done by surface sterilization method. A total of 33 isolates were recovered from 88 leaves and 88 root segments. Based on antimicrobial activitytest, most of the fungal extracts showed in vitro inhibition of microbes growth.

Abstract

This research aimed to isolate and select endophytic fungi that potentially as antimicrobial from betadin plants (Jatropha multifida L.). Isolation of endophytic fungi was carried out using surface sterilization and selection of endophytic fungi using well diffusion method. A total of 13 isolates of endophytic fungi were obtained from J. multifida L. From a total of 13 isolates, 11 isolates were able to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans, 11 isolate was able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and 10 isolates were able to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri isolat aktinomisetes yang telah diisolasi dari tanah Hutan Larangan Adat Ghimbo Potai, Kabupaten Kampar, Provinsi Riau. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan April sampai dengan Juli tahun 2016. Uji aktivitas dilakukan menggunakan metode difusi agar terhadap 2 bakteri uji yaitu Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Hasil uji aktivitas isolat aktinomisetes NA-1 dan NA-2 menunjukkan bahwa hanya isolat NA-1 yang memiliki kemampuan menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus dengan diameter zona penghambatan sebesar 7 mm.

Abstract

Partners in the Stimulus Community Partnership Program (PKMS) are RT 08 RW 02 Pantai Raja Village, Perhentian Raja District, Kampar Regency. This partner group has a business as a catfish breeder (Clarias sp.). Catfish hatchery efforts in Pantai Raja Village have started 8 years ago. However, there are problems faced by catfish farmers, namely catfish attacked by diseases and death such as fungal diseases, white spots on the body of the fish. This is thought to be caused by water quality that is not good (poisonous) as well as a lot of residual fish residue at the bottom of the pond. Based on this, the team from the Stimulus Community Partnership Program (PKMS) Muhammadiyah University of Riau (UMRI) has conducted mentoring and monitoring activities to help resolve problems from partners. The forms of activities that have been carried out are socialization and training in aquaponics making. Based on discussions with participants during the socialization and training, it can be seen that participants' knowledge of good aquaponics is felt to be very lacking.

Abstract

Limbah organik rumah tangga yang dihasilkan cukup banyak dan belum dimanfaatkan,maka perlu upaya pemanfaataan limbah organik rumah tangga secara tepat agar tidakmenimbulkan masalah bagi lingkungan sekitarnya. Penanganan limbah organik rumahtangga yang baik dapat mengurangi dampak lingkungan sekaligus membantu mengatasimasalah pemenuhan kebutuhan pupuk organik. Oleh karena itu langkah awal yang perludilakukan adalah bagaimana mengolah limbah organik rumah tangga untukmenghasilkan starter/EM dan pupuk bokashi serta meningkatkan keterampilanmasyarakat Kelurahan Tuah Karya dalam mengolah limbah organik rumah tangga yangnantinya bisa dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sebagai pupuk bagi tanaman dalampolybag/pot yang mereka tanam.
